I have attempted the following fixes with no luck: 1. Removing the dll in question from system32 and running the direct x online updater. 2. Removing the dll in question and trying the offline updater. 3. Copying the dll from my other 64 bit system (which the game works on). I'm running out of ideas.

Vid card drivers are current. How do i reinstall directx without getting the "The current version on this machine is up to date error"? I've tried changing the version number if the registry to no avail. Any ideas?
C:\Windows\system32\d3dx9_41.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. I get that message when trying to run Fallen Enchantress. I get a similiar message when trying to run SWTOR but i click ok and that program runs just fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Edit: Whoops for
Sounds pretty awesome Frogboy. The re-populating/leveling monsters/bandits really adds an organic feel to the game. The one complaint i've always had with the Civ series is that the bandits in that game are irrelevant after ~100 turns. Its good to see that emphasized.
Frogboy, You mentioned a few times that you play the game on a 2560x1440 monitor. I am considering getting one of these monitors. Could you make a recommendation? Thanks

If one was destroyed, another got automatically made. You weren't supposed to have to retrain another caravan. This is fixed (or should be) in FE.
Thats good to hear. Can we assign guards to them?

In all fairness, part of Frogboy's AI could be different flavors. He could be testing the "base" flavor (balanced game approach) versus an aggressive Ai or turtler etc.

Although I won't be able to play on my netbook any more, I much prefer a better experience when I play on my real rig.
Ironically, I will still be able to on mine. MUHAHAHAHAH 2 years ago I found a blank (no OS) netbook for 400 bucks on newegg that had a 4650 Radeon card.
In many 4x games, the higher difficulties give free stuff to the computer. In most cases, I don't mind the computer getting free cash or units. However, when there is TC, I do not like difficulties to buff the computer. In E:Wom, the higher difficulties did buff extra hit points to enemy units, which resulted in some peasants having 40+ health (when I have 5). While it does make the game more difficult, it is also far more frustrating. Could we have
If you folks do release the beta near turkey day, could you try to do it by the wednesday before? I will have a long break from graduate school so i could have a nice sit down with it.

I think the most important question is Kestral2040's portrait photoshopped? If its not, that dog is AWESOME.
That's one of the biggest problems with these digital distribution systems (impulse and steam) is that when you download a game, its always the latest. While in most cases that is what the user wants there are a few (like yourself) who like the classic version. I'm having the same frustration with Mount and Blade on Steam. I need 1.134 to run a mod I want but Steam automatically updates it to the latest (and if you reinstall it, its going to be the latest).
How does intelligence affect spell casting. I read through the PDF and there was a spell that added to INT and reduced to CON. After reading the description, it appears that INT will not affect damage or effects. Does it reduce magical defense Does it make effects more likely to stack. If so, some spellbooks do not need high int (Fire) where as others will depend upon it (Death).
Champions teleporting i don't mind. But large groups of soldiers I thought it to be a lil unrealistic. Now if a faction as part of this specialization had teleporting in a manner similar to what the OP suggested, that would be cool.
The new food/housing concept sounded nice. I also like the trophy idea.
While extra attacks for extra members does make since in some scenarios, it doesn't make since in all. For example, if I am a hero fighting 100 enemies in melee, all 100 enemies cannot attack me at once. I think there could be a simple solution to this. Max Soldier Attacks = TargetNumSoldierSize + 1; So if the unit sizes are 1, 4, 8 and 12 (i think that used to be the largest, never got past 4 myself), then a

Honestly I just don't think that Brad and most of Stardock are very good at balance... Fortunately from what I have seen this is an area that Derek excels(pun not intended). I believe that Brad did mention that balance fixes would be one of the last things to be done in the beta,
wow, so this seems to be a polarizing issue. I noticed yesterday when going through some xml, that about 1/3-1/2 of the old spells have been removed in the current version (since 1.09?). A lot of these were summons. It would be nice if there was a patch to dramatically increase unit health (20 or so base). and to re-add in these spells (and maybe a handful more) so magic is viable.
well I for one would prefer Frogboy to work on FE's AI. It would be nice if some improvements were made in TCAI before beta so we can hold onto our hopes and dreams.
And don't start with such a low number scale unless you are going to allow decimal points. So, for example, if you have a cudgel with an attack strength of 20 points, then make a staff 23 points but just add a slight defensive bonus. Spears could be 30 points, War staff could be 35 points with a slight defensive bonus. Daggers could also be low, say 25 points with a combat speed bonus, swords going up slightly with the best weapon in the late game at say around 70 points. <br
+ Only 1 study for a level 1 settlement. +2 more for level 2. +3 for level 3 and so on.
Played F for a little bit today. Once I got to a level 2 city I could only build 1 more workshop/study etc. Level 3 was the same. As currently implemented, the amount of studies/workshops is == city level.
