well you have to consider expectations too, there arent many strategy games, its not the same talking about cod X or FF Y, surely fans care about it but "its just another [XYZ]" , ppl annoyed by cod will just play another of the 213421441 clones me and other strategy players dont really have much choice and i really dont like the idea of playing civilization for the next 5 years

ok but since i read many similar problems i thought i shouldnt flood the forum cause it was probably common, ill be sure to report next time :) as for the reply it was strange to read about what the thread started said since beta 2a was totally cool and i was very surprised (in a positive way) about it, thats it
"all of us"? The new build should, overall, feel a bit slower than previous builds as work was done to try out multi-core optimizations starting with quad core; unless you have quad core you will probably notice a significant slow down. As we go forward we will continue to refine performance. The map is also 4 times larger than beta 2a so that should also have a noticeable impact as well.
you are probably living in a different world, all of us have problem with new beta build, nothing to complain ofc but not even to be praised
since beta is a bit unstable i cant get to play a lot so i wanted to ask this first so i know what route to get to build cities we need essences but in this beta apparently we dont have many (maybe i used them to cast some spell dunno) how can i produce them? i just found crystals and shards exploring should i encounter essences too? or need some research?
He's not saying their shouldn't be a stats system, just that they should consider not showing it to the player during character creation. Big difference.
i dont think so i find unconfortable having to study my char on a site, would be just better to see in game same with elemental i rather see it there instead of having to open a web page maybe just put in in a separa
If you want sovereigns to be more interesting I really think that getting rid of the stats options on the creation page will help. No Attributes should be visible while making a character. Nothing shuts down the creative process like the urge to min/max. I am a former pen and paper game designer so I know a bit about this. Just have talents, professions, and skills available. What this does
MOM system was just perfect also we have to distinguish between MAP buffs and tactica combat buff its obvious a map buff MUST have some upkeep while on tactical combat a buff can just be a spell you cast paying something and that lasts for the duration of combat (or even N turns, depending )
very often after a windows (research/quests) i get this: ps also to note i still get sometimes the foggy graphics as described in my past thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/385189
true, but D&D magic system (the one for BG ) is also shit, totally not good for videogames in fact in dragon age they redesigned it from 0 to make the combat more fitting a videogame
I'm sure once the diplomacy tree is in it will be much more interesting.
like sacrificing my 3 virgin daughters to prevent my capital to be destroyed? yeah sounds cool :D
well in mom there was mana and skill power as limiting factor
Dynasty these needs more love its very primitive now the kids are boring nothing to choose no talents no stats from parents etc how to upgrade : the main problem is for me how do i choose a wife ? because shes blond or a chubby ? every champion , sovereign or hero should have a dynasty skill or talent or the profession at the sovereign creature should have a impact on
I don't know if I do or don't appreciate a mana drain. If we've got a "max" mana, then it may be a good idea to go the Dragon Age route of "taking one off" the max mana. Therefore, the more / bigger longterm spells you cast, the less spells you can "barrage" at one time. So, if a player's got a bunch of world enchantments up, they can't go shooting fireballs out of their wazoo. Then again, this all depends on whether spells are meant t
well some cost if needed, if not mana something else (reagents ? ) but its impossible to discuss till we can try this magic system
Hark Frogboy, and listen well to these game forum residents – you cannot possibly complete the game in time for release. Forum denizens know of what they speak. Indeed it may appear that your long time experience with PC games, including the production of a handful of the best PC games of all time, would mean you do know what you’re talking about - IT DOES NOT! Neither previous in depth explanations of what the beta is and w
We’re getting close Elemental will be released on August 24th. Our “gold” date is August 4th. Our goal is to have the "game” basically done by July 16th.
well with all due respect i dont see how the "game" can be done in 3 weeks with all the stuff to do and test but i hope to be wrong :) for the rest i agree with your points, and im looking forward to see that stuff in game
what game are you playing guys? i always have 5 6 heroes and few times i had 10+ without any problem
why speculating when its only few hours till the new beta comes out? lets just wait and see
cant be september, they already said that can only happen in august or in feb when they have some sort of slot scheduled
The early game is pretty slow right now, because it takes time until you can do the research to build (and pay for) troops of any real size or strength. And that's still pretty basic stuff. When you throw in 3 more tech trees to work through, it's going to be a long game. I'm hoping for an advanced start option, myself. That was the single greatest option in Civ 4.
yeah its slow to build an army
the game CAN last for long time, but nothing will prevent you to play a tiny fast map if you want as for the rest we have to see magic before we talk and compare to MOM surely it seems a bit a "diesel" from the beta but soon there will be magic and we will judge anyway right now the beta is pretty enjoyable soonish, you get quests, you go adventuring, fight very soon, get rewards and try to defeat stuff <
i have this bug happening few times the whole game is foggy: this is completely random, sometimes it goes away alt tabbing sometimes i have to restart the game it probably relies to the video option "advanced lighting" since when i have this problem if i disable it, it goes back to normal visual
even in civ you could build 42342342141 archers instead of axemen/cavalry etc but that just didnt work if there are archers AND cavalry it will NEVER be equal to have both and decide which one to build and have ONLY 1 option and be forced to build only those NEVER for the rest maybe giving everyone a bit of everything is not the right solution, i just came with that idea, but im pretty sure there are many others i ca
I don't think luck will necessarily decide games, since there are a lot of ways around certain problems. History is replete with examples of heavily armored cavalry dominating all before them because their enemies didn't know how to counter. However, once they figured out that a disciplined spearwall combined with archers/firearms could break a cavalry charge, the heavily armored knight was gradually phased out.
man t
