.86 is a huge improvement over .85. That said, I noticed the AI spams a ton of units at you- often of marginal quality. It's almost farming for XP. Reminded me of GalCiv II some.
i dunno what game you played but in my game this wasnt even remotely true ai sent to me very good army it basically prevent my attacks for a long time since i
Ya an annoying flaw AI armies always have scouts and pioneers in them
wasnt like that for me tbh all armies were good balanced usually 1 2 champions with 2 3 archer and couple of melee so id say nearly perfect
AI only ever has a mage Sov, all champions are warriors. Lack of good mages makes em weak too
yeah i agree on this, the ma

i think its fine tbh its not like you research new armors and then buy them all in 1 turn otherwise money would be meaningless also dont forget you sell old stuff so in the end i think its perfect for now, you resarch, then buy few upgrades but cant afford them all

last game i played i actually had fun with my champions, leveling is fine imo, i could reach lvl 10 with most of them b4 the game ended the most annoying part was that ai was really farming hard quests and monsters leaving not much to me :(
Agree, i dont use fireball anymore either - actually it also leaves your mage useless, and you cannot adapt to what's going on/ cast another spell. Fire darts is the way to go.
again... single target spells do nothing when you are fighting a war since you often get attacked by stacks of 4 5 archer only fireball is viable or archers will wipe ur army (ofc you can have lot

Several times I have cast fireball or blizzard only to have the battle finish before the spell goes off.
you cant agree on something already proved wrong you probably lack the basic knowledge of the actual game or you are talking about very early game when champions are not customized enough to do what th

its not just get a lot more initiative on caster and it can do it on first turn there are lot more items in game for casters now in my last game i had an air mage buff bitch with tons of initiative, he could cast it 3 times b4 anyone else could move next turn its my fire mage and with haste he can insta fireball against 90% of enemies fireball is still op against multi figures

there is some flaw in the critical calculation when using lightning bow i was doing 15 20 dmg normal attacks and that is fine but every time i critted i was doing like 80 90, thats way too high even if i had the first trait for criticals

its already enough bad to have resist tbh and you want a rng on counterspell too? random things are not strategic nor fun, just frustrating but yeah i sort of agree that the actual system make counterspell too strong sometimes on the other hand aoe spell are very very strong so i think its overall balanced that way, if you fight a good army followed by a couple of mages you just cant aoe burn down them

well it need to be changed yet what need to be changed is that it should be a choice if you want to be stronger early or late right now its not cause the trait will pop at lvl 3 4 making nearly as good as other traits and just better as levels come

28 Replies 11,062 Views

its the same if there are good reasons to not attack then your opponent "should" know it and so know its not much worth for you to attack and so he would have no need to pay you its a binary situation, you either can or cannot defeat him its also different from civ since civ is trying to similate the real world where civilizations declaring war are not loved by others

im talking about the change about all champions now being able to cast and the removal of imbuing them well i do like the change first of all but after playing i still see a few flaws: 1) lack of uniqueness, since all champions cast and since the traits are the same basically they are too similar, and the gameplay will also follow the main traits, if you have a fire lvl 2 you will cast a lot of bolts whatever stats/equip/other traits that champion

well game is not fully balanced yet i think the idea should be when the war is in balance and you cant break through those bonuses might help

tbh i think its pointless if you are stronger than ai why wiould you want to receive a % reward than you would get just attacking it? thats also some deep philosophy question about diplomacy in any war game why would anyone want to do anything else but war? truth is the strongest army should just attack always and everyone else either ally each other or try to get peace in the en

yeah i found many situations like this ai at this stage REALLY overvalues buffs and debuffs most fights AI lose just cause even if in good shape it waste lots of turns to cast useless crap slow and stoneskin and curse and stuff and when it actually start attacking i already halved their army with fireball and dmg spells well this would deserve another topic i think anyway its not about ranged vs melee

1 Replies 3,179 Views

i dont see the problem first 40 50 turns you just explore/hire champions and party with all of them together cause its more profitable and safe then you decide what to do ie in 1 game i had 2 champions quite weak with traits for towns so after the initial exploration phase ended there was nothing easy to do and they had couple of levels each so i just parked them in town with 20% bonus to build etc and i kept going on hard t

well they are still top notch but way less OP imo in all my games (4 5 till mid game or so) i never ever got any close to raise champs lvl 15 20 like b4 i think i only had 1 champions reach lvl 10 if i recall well might need some tuning i agree but they dont look so op anymore

28 Replies 11,062 Views

dunno in my game i could both cast and buy even if i was going under zero and even after that, i could still cast and pay tributes from negative values (couldnt hire ppl though when i had neg money)

0 Replies 1,111 Views

yeah its impossible to have a real "measure" of the party strength anyway i think the actual system show well how it is, just need to take a good look at it if it has very high dmg and very low hp and defense means its a numerous party with lot of stuff but easy to take down with aoe, ranged etc if it has high def, hp and medium dmg with few count means its some big beast who is very strong and hard to take down and so on

7 Replies 2,202 Views

thats totally normal.... why would defense stack? its not like having 50 men with 1 defense will make the group have 50 defense ie they would take the dmg they take against 1 def instead if you have 50 men with 1 attack IT IS lke having 50 attack because if all 50 attack they will do "50" dmg
It forces you to split your champions up before it's truly viable to do, meaning the early game is a lot slower.
