Believe me, I'm not hating on tactical battles altogether, I like them very much under most circumstances...like a war strategy game. But in a 4X, war is only one of several ways to play and win. I'd love to see as much work and thought put into the economic, trade, and diplomatic systems (not that those things are lacking in Elemental). So how, specifically, would you all improve tactical battles, then...? I see someone mentioned giving units m
You didn't do anything wrong--that should work. If you have a savegame that you can try this again from, it may help us resolve the issue faster.
I don't have the save game unfortunately. I would say that would be a relevant point if in Elemental you would prepare your armies and watch them battle it out in an awesome cinematic battle....but that
Elemental isn't just a turn based game, it's a 4x game. 4x games are about world building, they are not about tactical combat . Think for a moment about how horrible GC2 would be with tactical battles. As it is now, you prepare a fleet and send it against your opponents fleet and watch them fight in an awesome cinematic battle. Imagine instead if you went into the battle and saw a little line of ships on your side, and a little line of s
ok if you actually played masters of magic that would mean your atleast 30 so you should have enough brain power to figure stuff out. right now the tactical battles are super simple, posess zero challenge. its not even close to the games strong suit its its weakest link.
Listen, this is a turn based strategy game. So, I sent one caravan between two of my cities, and voila, a nice road appeared and the caravan did it's thing back and forth. I made another caravan, and sent it to another of my cities--albeit much farther away--and although the caravan and it's guards disappeared, no road was made and the caravan was never seen again. What are the rules regarding caravans?
some folks prefer squares, some folks prefer hexes. They guy who made this game, however ...likes squares. When you make a strategy game, you can make whatever grid type you want. This is a silly thing to complain about.
I haven't tracked it yet, but you could find out by seeing how many turns it takes for your kids to grow up one year.
I wish it was right at the top of the screen. Like GC2 starts on Jan. 1, 2277...and each turn moves the calendar one week. That kind of thing adds a lot to the game.

Like, how do I know when a month, or a year has passed in the game?
Nobody? How do you know how much time is passing in the 'game world'?
Not crazy about it. I like a big, detailed manual...The one for Galciv 2 is about 75 pages or so, and is pretty good. The Elemental manual is about 35 pages. It's good for what it is, but I love this game and want to know as much as I can about it. I think the manual could have been 2 or 3 times as large and gone into better detail about the elements of the game.
Finally I have been able to sit for several hours and play a bit of Elemental. And I have to say I am very very surprised. I feel like "Where are all the problems people are talking about?" Sure, there are many things that could be improved (and I hope they get improved) and the AI is easy to win, but the game feels very far from incomplete. Many different structures, buildings, spells and techs, who se number are in par with what similar games have. We
Yes, there are minor factions when you play. Their cities usually sit by a unique creature improvement, so if you capture the city you can build that creature. For example, in my game I captured a city that gave me access to Bone Ogres (and thus made the rest of the game hilariously easy, but alas..)
cool. thanks. :)
There seems to be, I see some small kingdoms that I don't remember in the set-up screen...
who cares really? Games like this are made for sandbox mode, not the campaign. No one complains about a lack of campaigns in Civ, I always wonder why people complain about it in Stardock games...
Yes, I've been checking that screen out. And it has a little info, but is nothing like the civ manager screen in galciv. For one thing, it doesn't show your progress over time compared to all of the other kingdoms...
