Anyone who is gunning down spearmen with helicopters in Civilization needs to turn up the difficulty. :)
This candor on a public forum is what separates Stardock from other publishers who would rather hide their head in the sand when it comes to complaints (both valid and trolls). I've enjoyed Elemental in spite of the bugs and I'm sure I'll like it even more when they are gone.
Hit f5 more often. They only leave the posts of complainers when they are poorly argued. Anyone who makes really good points gets modded.

Terraforming needs a overhaul atm anyway. Forrests should not be harder to clear than mountains!
Wait, there's a way to clear forests? Tell me please!

Any system that ties your game to an account that either requires online authentication (thus dependence on a server) or kills resale value is DRM in my opinion.
Yep. While it's true that stardock makes good games, it is a complete marketing myth that they make DRM-free games. Impulse might support my right to back up games, but it infringes on my right to resale games. It also uses needed updates as an incentive to l
Call me strange, but I don't think that games lacking polish should be excused due to lack of developer resources. It's called designing within your constraints, a lesson that any strategy gamer is forced to learn. And Elemental lacks polish. Period. You can't get around that fact. It's not some massive conspiracy to say that Elemental is less polished than SC2. That's just how it is right now. Attacking the strawman of the gami
I have played SC2, and the positive view of SC2 exists for precisely the reasons that Voqar posted: polish. Yeah, Terran is relatively imbalanced right now... but compare that level of "imbalance" with what passes for balance in elemental.
Polish costs money. Blizzard has huge budgets and masses of developers to throw at their projects. When they make a release, they can do so in confidence, because they know that the bought-and-paid-for gaming press will lavis
Critics love SC2 because it's an incredibly good game. Games don't need to be original to be amazing - they need to be well done, polished, have clean releases, and most of all, be FUN. People are digging SC2 because they are having a blast playing it. Period. Exclamation Point! (I've yet to try it, I just don't like RTS, and even with all the hoopla, I still can't see paying $60 to play some of the campaign that I'd most likely never finish sin

Yeah, normally you have the options of either expanding like crazy, building a strong army or teching up. In Elemental, you can do all three at the same time!

I just wish they'd add a "start game already married" option so i don't have to spend years I should be building up my kingdom scouring the wastes for a wife! Maybe at least let me propose on the spot so i don't have to immediately after paying her for her "services"! I feel like a dirty old man! :p

It's a sad day when games are proclaimed unfocused mish-mashes because they don't play or function like every other game in the genre. When a game that introduced zero innovation to the genre (SC2) gets praised and a game that is trying to shake up the genre (4X) is criticized for lack of "focus", how will game developers react? More innovation or more cookie-cutter crap? Game innovation is like stand up comedy, you gotta take risks and sometimes you just bomb. Sometimes you get heckled and y
Let me guess. Their motto is "Let's fuck up a good thing just because we have nothing better to do!" No, they are all just hired by EA to tear down a company that is opposing their DRM schemes.
Some in the gaming press (PC Gamer UK) might as well be on EA and Blizz's payroll.

So far, my kids have been the opposite - crappier than both parents. I wish I knew the formula to have badass kids (in Elemental).

I think it would be awesome if your sovereign were mortal and whenever she died in combat or old age, whichever kid was "next in line" would become the new sovereign. I haven't seen it myself, but I understand that is how it works for the NPC kingdoms. Then, there would be a real incentive to develop a dynasty.

This bugged me, as well. There's an option called "tact-battle threshold" that you can set to 0 to always have the option to choose tactical battles. I hope they make 0 the default, in the future, because the auto-resolver seems kinda dumb.

I agree with the essence of your post that gaming reviews are a total farce, but I really wish people would stop spewing this particular line of ignorance. Failing to frame limit is not the most optimal thing to do... You certainly don't "need" that umph for a menu. Still, this equates to "using hardware at 100% of it's potential caused it to fail". That is not a software flaw no matter how you spin it. Any card t

I can't stand this "feature". Hopefully, if day-0 doesn't fix that arbitrary 50 tile limit, there'll be an easy way to mod it out. If it must be kept for "balance", at least let us research it away in the "civilization" tech!
