Tell me if I'm wrong, but aren't console games a higher price at release ($60) than PC games ($50) since the consoles, as frogboy says, are a closed market and can take a piece of the profits while PC games are an open market? Isn't Civ V a step in that direction, ie you HAVE to use steamworks while running the game?

Personally, i would like to see magic more appoached as art form than as cookbook where you only need the right ingredients. I would personally like to see EWoM use something different, maybe where spells give you a little tweaking room or there's a small random factor in using magic, not necessarily bad, but simply different. Maybe your channeler can have his or her own flavor or style of doing things, like you can opt to switch spell elements on the fly, or add an additional eff
putting too much decision-making power into the Big Roulette Wheel In The Sky is a surefire way to unbalance the game.....
I think you might have this wrong, RNG in the case of infinite research here would not unbalance the game over much. Each player should have a roughly equal chance at getting something nice, something they need, or something totally worthless. Besides, this model would more accurately re

Well, a couple of the fantasy authors I've read recently, Steven Brust and Ursula Le Guin were pretty awesome. Steven Brust's Dragaeran novels are vey entertaining and the wolrd seems very fleshed out, especially in the Khaavren series, and I hope Elemental can have worlds like that, where you can get some cool named provinces carved out fo the map, with lots of action taking place on them, like bandit attacks on passing merchants and whatnot. Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea books are
Check out the Dev post titled "Countdown to Beta Zero - Spells, Spells, and more Spells!" I think it was response #12 where Boogiebac stated and I quote: "Most of the editors will be used outside of the main game, though I would like to find a way to make them gameplay features (Item Editor becomes a 'Item Crafting' feature, Spell Editor for 'Spell Crafting'), but we probably wont have time for those " If you kn

Hmm, I think I would also like to play a never-ending sand-box fantasy TBS game, where your channeller eventualy becomes a being like the Witch King or Cirdan the Shipwright from LoTR, with a rich history behind him or her. Especially if there are interesting random events and quests to do. But, back to borders, I think they are important to this game, but I would like to see a break from culture or influence defining your borders, but allow diplomacy to make a difference as wel

Well, I dont know about anyone else here, but I don't exactly play a 4x game for the reason that all the female characters have nipples on them. If E:WoM is going to be as easy to mod as has been stated, this shouldn't exactly be a problem for those of you who absolutely want them in the game. But for the larger discussion about the ESRB, I think that a rating system is a good thing, although I would agree with what has been said here, that it all depends on what is rated and ho

When I first heard about SW:TOR, I was ecstatic about the game, I loved both the kotors and I wanted to see what the post-kotor 2 republic would be like. Then I looked at the game and found out it was an MMO[e digicons]:'([/e] . I hope this game flops so bioware will actually make a kotor 3.
On topic: do you think that little outcropping of rocks left and a little up from the shard tower is some kind of ore deposit? And up and to the right of that there's a bright spot half covered by a rock that almost looks like it could be a crater or something...
I definately think that the ore looking rocks are some sort of resource, but I think that the crater covered by the rock might just be some extra terrain pi
Balancing player skill without universal fudge factors like "so-and-so's taxes always collect 10% more than everyone else's", or "so-and-so's armies always do +1 damage", etc. This would ensure we'd have a sporting chance when going up against Stardock devs, for example.
Could also help to stregnthen the AI to make the game more challenging on the most difficult levels instead of giving them some of that free stuff (see above).

The white structure appears to be castle ruins to me so probably a dungeon, and the red borders might be something like land that can be built on. Also, any ideas on what the bottom numbers could be, one says 1000 and the other says 11 I think, maybe gold and population?

Don't know about anyone else, but I loved Dawn of War (not Soul Storm or Dawn of War II) because it had incredibly awesome battles. I also enjoy a more recent game, Mount and Blade a lot. And last but not the least, I liked the harvest moon game for the N64.
Not necessarily, I think I read on a gamespot preview that using your channeller in battle is risky because if your channeller dies, it was essentially game over. So, even if your channeller was extremely powerful, there would be still be a risk of losing him/her in battle and getting knocked out from the g

And what makes you think the Covenant will have their shields dropped long enough for you to pop in and fire an antimatter torpedo? If you can take out their shields and you have them sure. And also, what makes you think that their shields can withstand the power of a Covenant ship? Did you not read the part where they glassed the surface of a planet? The only chance they will ever have of firing an Antimatter torpedo will be when they come into first contact with a Covenant when they don't t

I don't think that late gmae essence hoarders will be a huge problem, they liekly will have very few cities and armies, and consequentially their research and production and everything like that would be extremely curtailed. A large empire with multitudes of armies could probably just continually throw men at essence hoarding channellers until they die from attrition. Additionally, there seem to be enough victory conditions in the game to make one dominant strategy appear. <p

I dont have the time to read all 19 pages of this thread, but here's my piece. Camp 1 sounds like it could end up being a nightmare unless a good deal of time is spent on it to implement it well. Camp 2 sounds a little too dumbed down and, personally, if Elemental ships with Camp 2, I would be disappointed knowing that the game could have had Camp 1. I like the sound of Camp 3, it rings a beel with the way heroes worked in Majesty, but I can see the same problems happeni
Instead of receiving more tiles to build on as your city grows, you would be allowed to construct an additional building. The map will be a grid and you will need to find space for your building to fit. Here is an example image:
I disagree with this part. I always disliked arbitrary limits on how big cities could be. Instead of making an arbitrary limit on city size and making the player build puzzle-like

Alright, this is my first post here on the forums, but the reason I'm doing this right now is that I was inspired by the whole "wild spaces" concept to write this. I enjoy the entire process of building civilizations, but I think this would be fun to do as well. Does anyone else think it would be fun to play as simply a very powerful single hero type guy the length of the game, investing your essence into yourself instead of building an enitre empire? I doubt the
