Poor equipment balance is something I have been pointing out since the game came out. It has improved a bit but then the beta messed it up even more. Honestly I just don't think that Brad and most of Stardock are very good at balance... Fortunately from what I have seen this is an area that Derek excels(pun not intended). I believe that Brad did mention that balance fixes would be one of the last things to be done in the
Fallen Enchantress will be the biggest challenge of my AI career as I believe (perhaps incorrectly as I’m biased) the ability of the AI monsters and AI players to make intelligent use of their special abilities in battle will be crucial to the overall enjoyment of the game. So a great deal of my time will be spent having the AI learn to not just cast spells but to treat their abilities and magical powers as a cohesive whole – to build micro strategies with them.
Wow people need to stop putting words in my mouth.... I was replying to the specific argument "times are harsh so I don't want to have children", obviously in the end it's a personal decision I was just saying that times are always harsh. It's not popular to have children in the western world because they cost allot of time and money that people are unwilling to spend for no real economic gain. In say a pre-industrial agricultural society extra children meant more farm han
DsRaider - To your contribution, I can say only this - you are absolutely, utterly ignorant of the practical problems of energy production. Why do you think nations wage bloody wars for every oil well that can be found? Because the most important matter, EROI and concentration of the resource, matter very much.
Basically, we have one Earth, of a fixed size, and no matter how we try, we will never be able to produce an infinite amount of energy and food from a finite resource. So sooner or later, unless we drastically cut population growth right away (which looks extremely unlikely) we will have a population crash. Simple as that.
Overpopulation is only a problem in the developing world, it's established scientific fact that once a c

There is nothing wrong with fast combat, it makes a lot of sense. However excuse me while I be more than a little critical.
As it is FE tactical combat is about bringing the right army to the battle, and about using the right ability at the right time.
Bringing right unit to battle = 100% strategic, and actually has nothing to do with tactical combat at all. May as well autocalc it. Which means that combat is a
Hahah if modding support for FE is anything like it was for WoM, I doubt there will be much of a modding community at all honestly.
Indeed you are pretty much limited to adding new variations of things that already exist. Want to add some new weapons, spells or traits, no problem. Want to make even to slightest change to how the game actually plays, get real. Basically you can add new content or rebalance things but you can't chan
Sadly, most crucial ability of fortifications is lacking from pretty much all games. Castles were used more to hold off the enemy then anything else. An advantage in combat is nice but I would really like castles to have the ability to delay combat until reinforcements arrive. It takes a very long time to siege a well fortified city and instantaneous combat doesn't do the reality justice. Armies should have to sit outside the city walls for multiple turns before combat starts. Perha
I support this thread.
Heavenfall and I had a discussion on using the new event code to mod events like what you mentioned above in. Everything you mentioned above is possible to do but there are some limitations as discussed in the link. https://forums.elementalgame.com/409494
I agree with Kamamura_CZ. The recent developments with OPEC and the IEA are a sure sign that oil production has been mostly maxed out. Countries like Russia and Canada could increase production a fair bit but I don't see that happening to a significant degree due to environmental and economic reasons.
while Saudi Arabia, as an obedient US puppet regime agreed to the increase
ummm ya sure... If anyone has the p
Except In Elemental a spider and a black widow are different monster types. One doesn't have to sound like the other. Ravenous Harridan is synonymous with black widows not giant spiders. The problem with confusing and descriptive names affects every monster in the game practically anyway. What's a Darkling, Shrill, or an Umberdoth? Ravenous Harridan is far more descriptive then any of those names. It's hard to come up with monster names that are that 100% descriptive and yet still
Yes, you need the faction trait egalitarianism . Tarth is the only provided faction with it, but you can design your own. Then I believe that everytime you design a new unit type there will be a %50 chance of them being female. Play around with unit design to get it right,
Wow another journal already! Your really churning them out now. Traits and encumbrance really seem like they transform the bland unit design from WoM into something cool and interesting to use.
Harridan: A woman regarded as scolding and vicious. Ravenous: Extremely hungry; voracious. Rapacious; predatory. Greedy for gratification It's a giant Black Widow not a just a spider. Black Widows are predominately female because the females are known for eating the males after mating,
A few thoughts on city spam reduction. The number one problem with city building has been how cheap and effective those spammable buildings are.... Even early game the only real constraint on them is build time, late game they cheaper then dirt. Or simply put.... ----> As you advance through the game improvement production rises steadly but costs do not! 1. A simple boost to high level buildings w
I don't like the idea of magical names. They aren't descriptive enough and if some names are magical it makes very little sense for all names not to be magical then. When choosing traits I would rather have simple and descriptive names, not have to choose between a dozen traits named Fajingifs Fury or Ghostlittles Sound Economic Sense. You can always add a explanatory backstory if you want to explain why your champion has certain traits. Having magical names would actual
Once or twice a powerful AI sov with an army would attack me and take a city. Then they would attack the next city only to lose. Which in the old system would mean my cities disappeared....
Fixing the AI does not solve the glass cannon issue. Fixing the equipment tiers partially solves the glass cannon issue. Simultaneous combat mostly solves the glass cannon issue. I can't explain it better than that. Maybe Frogboy will allow modders to turn TC back to the way it was for you power gaming folks. Personally I've always preferred more realistic combat.
I believe I directly state
I agree. Not only is Simultaneous combat more realistic, it certainly doesn't remove complexity but in a way adds more. If you are no longer guaranteed to be safe from combat, better decisions will have to be made by the player.
You mean because smart unit placement and thus first strike isn't as important your no longer safe from bad AI in combat? How does that allow better decisions? I mean what options are players
Except it all is caused by poor balance, and adjusting stats would fix it all. While yes simultaneous combat helps the AI and works around the glass cannon problem, it does so by removing complexity and strategy to make up for dumb AI and poor balance. With simultaneous combat why would I ever bother do tactical combat, except to spam magic. Tactical combat has taken a large step closer to becoming pointless window dressing that lacks any strategy or meaning whatsoever, but ya the AI has less
