FlyGuy, you are blowing things way out of proportion. For one, Luckmann's entire post was basically a joke. Don't take it so seriously. Also, Stardock is not stupid. They aren't going to include something that has no place in the game regardless of how loud anyone is supporting it on the forums. Some sort of joke like this develops and pretty much all game forums. One of Stardock's other games (Sins of a Solar Empire) had a huge following of Space Ponies. In the end Star

[quote quoting="post"] Thankfully, the Pink Space Ponies "thing" from Sins of a Solar Empire hasn't carried over to Elemental. However, as I've been reading through the forums, I see more and more references to bear cavalry (and not just from one person). So, at least for now it seems like the Bear Cavalry is the new, official mascot of Elemental. Granted, the Beta hasn't even begun yet, but that's only a matter of time. Growl?

I think it would be pretty silly if they don't let us name hero units and towns. You should be able to name towns when you settle them and when you conquer them. Also something that might be fun to mess around with in terms of heroes is give the player the ability to give them their name, but any title or nickname would be assigned by the computer based on the traits/actions of the hero (like in that screenshot with Martin Longstrider, Martin would be the name, longstrider would be th

I agree with Luckmann. If they were to implement Chocobos as we know them from Final Fantasy, it would be terrible. But if they were to implement them in a way that they look like bad-ass meat-eating ostriches - that would be cool. And you know that people would still call them chocobos.

Yeah I hope they don't copy AoW:SM's method, unless they make some serious changes. A powerful channeler should be able to enable significantly smaller armies to defeat much bigger/better ones with little magical aid. This was largely mitigated in AoW:SM by limiting your mana use per turn so drastically especially by including overworld spells in that limit. It meant that the wizard's magic was very efficient in combat when two small armies were engaged (really hurting one unit is a b

I'd say it's worth just getting the digitial download only. When galciv 2 came out I bought digital download + box, and I have still never opened the box. It's packed away somewhere in storage still in the plastic wrap. Since then every time I've bought a game online I've gone for the digital download only. And with Impulse I don't feel like I'm just being allowed to borrow it. I feel like I own it, but the installation files are being safekept against loss and damage for me. I

I think there should be no fog of war within some range of population centers and watchtowers - like in galciv 2 (planets/starbases have an LoS). But I think it should be a pretty significant range. Could be explained away as travelers talking about what they saw, indirectly reaching your channeler's ears. It could even scale with population, to a limited extent (could be logarithmic growth, for example). That way a 1 million population city wouldn't be able to see half the world - in fact it

Redwall! I loved those books. They may be children's books but nonetheless some of the best fantasy out there. I'd also have to echo Tolkien (taken as a whole - Silmarillion, Hobbit, LoTR), George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, and the first trilogy Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant Chronicles. The second trilogy wasn't very good, and I strongly disliked what I've read of the 3rd trilogy. I also have to mention three series that I almost never hear any
