kk, im writing this as i read so i wont have read all the posts at this point. Orlean Knight i wastnt refering to you when i critisised the blunt/slash/peircing, i was talking bout WarlokLord, make an effort to read every post please. :P DatonKallandor, warcraft 3 needed lots of decision making skill, and RTS' always need APM but in some decision making has more emphasis, have u ever played COH, that needed lots of decision making not micro. TheBigOne is soooo right, l

I disagree wholeheartedly with WarlokLords presumptioin that distiguishing between inexperienced and experienced players is not important. Where would games like Starcraft and CS be if players of diferent skills didnt make diferent choices and it is easy to tell in both thes games how good someone is by the choices they make. Also i disagree with his sugestions for weather effects, they dont make the game deeper, just more convoluted. A Slash/Blunt/Pierce or Fire/Earth/Water system of

I like Annatar11's idea, an effect that is active and so can be used with skill that is significantly stronger against certain demigods or more importantly certain builds by using effects such as next spell has no effect or a temporary trueshot aura. In DotA if you go PotM then the most common build is probably Treads, Linkens and Mjollnir but linkens in this build is commonly changed for BF or even Bloodstone if the enemy team lacks casters or disables. The resolutions that you are r

It's hard to express how much i hate the idea of Demigod specific items or Anti-Demigod items. They dont add to the game they reduce the game: they damage the strategy of the item game, stop inventive builds and turn the game into a rock-paper-scissors counter system. You need a wide variety of inventive and fundamentally different items, if you do that then people will figure out counters themselves.
Good RTS don't have counters like "unit a beats unit b" (for

I rekon that TheBigOne hit it right on the head. Although its Terran not Terra.
I doubt you even have to specifically balance for this it just happens because more options is better than having the same options twice.
The only thing i disagree with in his post is the tem that allows you to sell with less penalty or repick skills. In my opinion if you have to repick skills and rebuy items then thats because you built your demigod badly.
Yes, make

I dislike the idea of items that can only be used for or against Demigods at all, items can and should be made with specific demigods in mind but to make it ony be efective vs 1 type almost appears to be cheating and reduces the depth of strategic choice. To use OrleanKnight's rook point, i would greatly prefer an item that reduces armor on attack, too any Demigod. Restricting it reduces the depth of that item. In DotA the items are all (or mostly) geared with specific types of Demigo

The trick is to stay back far enough that ur vision allows u to kill him before he kills u. If ur uber TB then u just have to be able to hit first, which u can do if u see him early enough

Very impressive roundup Yer, Oak looks strong but the wave attack looks kinda weak from what i saw in the vid.

Yer, 8 demigods at release, another soon after, i think i read that somewhere too, and the smart money is on oculus as the extra

He either needs to be brought up to speed with the others in terms of abilities (mildly better snipe and way better normal mines) or the items that made him unbeatable brought back in. Also i rekon his slow should last slightly longer and his sinpe scope should add a minor damage bonus. I agree that he isnt as bad as he origionally looked, but he still needs buffing

Spartan, nice job on the news. This game has a sweet art style, and i like the fact that you are making a turn based strat in a gaming environment where RTS' roam like giant dinasaurs across the arid environment of PC gaming shelves, dominant without strong resistance. Not that i dislike RTS' :). But no one is making any good turn based starts anymore

No, i got an asomely new comp, it could probs run some of the things but gameplay is millions of times more important than graphics. Dead minions staying is EPICLY draining.

OK, u guys are all taking a fantastical "what i would like to see" without thinking about it, weather effect are epicly draining on processor power and hard to do, they are kinda cool but they are the things that they shouldnt be working on or thinking about until the game is incredibly polished already, other things are more important. The evil/good thing is good IF that is the intention of the two sides, which i dont think it is, i think it is just names for the two teams. T

OK, u are asking alot of huge things here, lots of which sound cool on paper but are either impractical or not so good when thought about. The idea i like the most of yours is the good/evil counterparts, BUT only if that is what is meant by the good evil thing, from the lore i thought that they were just labels fort eh 2 sides, not actually about a 'good' side and a 'bad' side. OK are u attacking morrowind?!?!?!? cause i love that game. The towers could do with some spicing up

There are problems with a full RTS control of units: it will make the characters feel segmented and broken compared to each other, it will be hard to balance and the items will also feel segmented and broken. But a system where buying makes computer controlled creeps follow the pre-designated path would be boring and it will probably be hard to make legitimately useful. I feel the most interesting answer will be somewhere inbetween, but ill be buggered if i know what it is
