I could not more disagree with these folks. Maybe they have played too many games and they are burned out, maybe they don't like fantasy 4x games,.. I'm not sure. Elemental has flaws but, some of the concepts of the design are brilliant. I's too bad they can't see that.
An addendum to my earlier post concerning the "lair / dungeon" idea. I have no idea if you ever played the old games Breach2 and Rules of Engagement but, those were two seperate games that had an interlocking aspect to them in that during the games of Rules of Engagement it was possible to have your ships get close enough to engage the opposing ship via boarding parties. This portion of the game was normally played out in a purely
Removal of Overlord and Teleportation modification: WOW, I never thought about how big a change in play that those two things in tandum would create. I have to 're-learn' my early game. And, it worries me about how I will defend my empire effectively when it gets really big. I have yet to see mana totals beyond 24ish, and it takes me a while to get to 24 mana with the approach I use. It's going to take me a few game
Okay, Maybe the problem is I don't know what is "early" game and "mid" game etc. Here is the scenario: Large map, all opponents selected on Hard, notable locations and quests are off, I'm playing Empire, Magnar, w/homegrown Sovereign with Brilliance and Meditation and Royalty.
Wow, playing without quests and notable locations... that's a really big part of this game.
The lands around me
Honestly, I can't imagine this game in multiplayer... probably won't play it. Maybe if tactical combat changes dramatically I might change my mind.
Organized going away..hmmmmm .. .. After a few minutes of thought, I think it's a good decision.
I kind of like option #1 seems more realistic(in context)... we can research to reduce the price.
I have only had 2 crashes out of hours and hours of play .. I seem to be one of the lucky ones with the right setup.
So, anyway, I purchased this game as Digital Download only. Now, I would really love to get a a copy of the game on DvD, as it was released, so that I can choose what level of patching I want. Am I going to have to repurchase or can Stardock or does Stardock supply physical copies for a reduced fee? Thanks for your feedback.
It's too much effort for too little reward. Unless there's some sort of automation, this is simply not an option
Reward is subjective... IMO, getting double movement from roads after they are finished is completely worth it, even if I never send another caravan. So, anyway I guess I'm done here.
Some feedback: Have you thought about ESCORTING your caravans? You really don't expect the drover and one mule to be able to fight off all those raging spiders alone do you? Seriously, design a unit..call it Caravan Guard... send it out with all your caravans and they should get where they are going safely enough ..if not, well, add more guards.
I am still on the fence about the economy. In V1.07 I found initial monster income to help a lot, but didn't really give me so much gil as to produce everything I wanted that takes money. I also discovered that trying to make every city a big gildar producer usually failed and cost my economy more than it made. What did seem to work was having specialized cities ... Gildar producers, Food producers,...etc,. I made sure to add the one per faction type resource

I so love the main idea this game is built around... being able to fool your opponent into attacking fake positions, etc. I refuse to buy this game however as I do not agree with the buisness model. Whether or not I am allowed to play the game I bought rests solely in the hands of the publisher... I dont freakin think so. Great game concepts but they can keep it.
I wouldn't mind seeing a mod that: 1. Alters the name generator 2. Provides hero's, champions or units with special abilities. I also wouldn't mind seeing something that alters the AI of units in tactical battles... this is not a real biggie here, as I think you mentioned working on something that will let us mod the AI through python, but I am guessing you are not ready for that yet.
The best thing to do is simple, don't buy games with ridiculous forms of DRM. I absolutely LOVE the concepts behind RUSE, but I will never buy it because of the draconian requirements to play the game. Same goes for Wings of liberty, no internet no play .. OK no buy. If we don't feed them, they will die... the companies will just fail. That is the only solution .. that or make you own games.
From the article... "So, to recap: EULAs are binding, they can control just about everything you might dream up, and only Congress can change the situation." So what about EULA's that can't be read until after opening the software package? Are the courts prepared to over turn store policies prohibiting refund for anything short of product fail? "We hold today that a software user is a l
The economy can be a struggle, but I wouldnt call that broken. Sometimes, as others have said, you just dont get what resources you want. If that is the case, may I suggest taking the resources you want from your opponents.. it is a war game after all. Also, putting your city bonuses in the right places makes a big difference. Having high gildar bonuses on a city that produces mostly tech knowledge is counter-productive. I haven't really had much trouble stayin
Well, I will eventually post a screenshot ... as soon as I have a place to host the images. from what i am seeing here you guys dont let people upload images to posts.. at least i cant find a way to.
Ok so, I have this town down near roslyn territory named eravon. They declare war and eventually move a stack of units into position to attack eravon. I think np, I have a son in a major city with three units of what I call heavy swords 11attack 19defense so I teleport my son and the three units of heavy swords down to eravon to add to the defenses already there. They attack, on the tactical battle field I see the full array of their force, 3 BIG units of spearman with 42a

Hrmmmn... Well, I have gotten 600gildar from long lost forgotten ruins recently rediscovered by my trusty scholars. I have yet to get that much from wandering critters in the wastes... maybe 150 ish I really do like the wandering critters as well as the ruins and lost towers, etc,. For me the money hasn't really been that much help... perhaps you could bump up your difficulty level?
