I also think snipe needs to be changed to require some skill to use, but that's perhaps a bit much to ask at this point.
Well when a General can kick an Assassins butt without even relying on their army of units for assistance there are definately balance issues. Why play an inferior hero?
This is a misconception really. Generals were originally supposed to need their minions to get things done, but then the developers decided this would be too difficult to accomplish and now the Generals can essentially be played like Ass
QoT is very tough to kill if you play her right, but she's also probably the weakest Demigod in terms of killing opponents. She has very low weapon damage and even her offensive abilities lend themselves more to helping others kill (-armor and snare) than actually killing opponents herself. With Bramble shield she's a great supporter, and with Mulch and Shamblers she can keep herself alive even longer, but you could hardly ever call her a "WTF" Demigod. In fact, at t
Yeah, kill them once early, don't let them get to the point where they have that many.
Well, I think he meant that with all of the various abilities / hero types in DotA, the only place the devs really need to look for inspiration is DotA. That doesn't mean they should copy DotA, but that there are a lot of really cool abilities and basic hero ideas in DotA that would work well, with some tweaking, in Demigod.
I have a question about the pirate users: I realize this game doesn't use DRM, but doesn't it do a CD Key check when you log into online? That seems like a no-brainer when it comes to protection against the sort of problems you're having. Sure, people can make a CD Key generator or something eventually, but I'm sure having a unique CD Key check would at least prevent the 80k plus pirates you have playing the game online days after release.
Yeah, if the purpose of reviews is to give consumers advice about buying a game or not, the review should be based on how the game is at the time of the review. As such, it would have been irresponsible for Gamespot to give the game a positive review given the current problems. That said, Gamespot should check back again in another couple weeks, month or so at most and try reviewing it again. But unless GPG adds a significant amount of content from now until
I think they were a bit harsh, but you know, I think at the same time that it's kind of fair. They're totally right. Demigod has a GREAT foundation, with awesome visuals and sounds. The gameplay is simple yet has an element of complexity (which can easily be built upon) and is definitely addictive. The problem? There's not much else to it. Pick any other game that you pay $40-60 dollars for and you'll get a lot more content. Sure, I'm
I agree, I think she lends naturally towards defense and support but you need good team mates or it won't matter much. If you find any good damage builds, let me know.
Personally I've found if you focus on Ground Spikes and the other aimed spike attack (forget the name) and get bramble shield / stat boost on in-between levels, you can be pretty effective offensively. You just need to tak

AI enemies / allies have no place in ranked / recorded multiplayer matches. It's absurd that they are included in release.
Frost TB's damage was significantly decreased in the last patch before release. I've only tried him once since then, but he definitely isn't nearly as powerful as he was in beta. Now the benefit in playing frost TB is the debuffs that his skills apply, and I really think that with the new changes, frost is definitely an assist path that, hopefully, helps out more in a group battle.
This is the way it should
oh boy, i have a feeling dredging this up was a bad idea....
You are right though, every game has it's bad people but from my experience DoTA has had the highest amount of jerks in comparison to nice people. I tried for a week to play regular DoTA games at different times and maybe I had bad luck but no matter how much I tried to be helpful / tried to get good, I was still rewarded with the most horrible people i've ever met on the internet. If i'm greeted by the same in demi-god I still will thi
smiter, rampaging, scourge, apocalypse, godlike...i think there are a couple others in between oh my demigod was pretty nice. i miss "wicked sick!" and "holy shit" from DotA, "killing spree" was nice too.
You're basically condemning the game and saying it will fail because it isn't a clone. The same garbage that people have been complaining about since the game was announced.
That's not what he said at all. I agree with the original poster; this game will be successful because it is fun and accessible, but it's not going to steal away a significant portion of the DotA / AoS p
Most people will be playing Rook. There'll be a lot of Regulus too. Generals will be least common. I'll probably play Sedna or Erebus, maybe QoT if she's a bit better than previously.
I believe the uneven teams are a function of the game thinking you are that awesome though , but I can't be 100% sure. This is true. The higher you are ranked, the more likely you are to land yourself in a one-man-team. ... And vice versa.
That's silly, the matchmaking system should never give you uneven matches. I don't think skill gives you so much an advantage that you can really beat a 3v1 team
The best way to prevent people from pirating games is to include ongoing content and other online features that require a certified cd-key. Demigod has both of those things, so I'm not too worried about a lot of people pirating it. In any case, I think that the vast majority of the time, the people who pirate games wouldn't have bought the game anyway if they couldn't have downloaded it for free, so it's not a huge deal. That's not to say it's acceptab
Starcraft is so interesting to watch and play because the counters are not very hard. They're a lot harder than the counters in WC3, though, which I think takes soft-counter balance too far. I've enjoyed games with hard counter systems (like the Age of Empires games), but I find that battles in games with softer systems are usually a lot more exciting because it's more about how you use your units and less about which units you have. Of course this is all
Will depend on what schoolwork I have that day. These days tend to be pretty busy for me. Nevertheless, I'll try to get some games in as soon as the game launches. I'm tempted to try out the new Erebus, but I'll probably end up playing Oak, Sedna, or maybe QoT. The noobs will be playing the Assassins and I'm hoping with the day 0 changes the infamous trifecta won't be auto-win anymore.
Yeah, I'd really like it if there were a way for players to create their own maps, or at the very least edit the ones currently available somehow. Most RTS are kept alive in the long run by the ability of players to mod / create things, especially maps.
With snares capped at 33% Regulus will be MUCH more manageable. Only thing left is to change Snipe so that it requires more skill and is therefore less abusable, especially in team games. I really like the idea of forcing players to actually aim snipes. Leading targets would be awesome.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that completly. In both HOSK and DoTA Heroes were obviously far more powerful than creeps, especially as time went by. But never were they something you could just ignore and never did there have to be a tower nearby before you worried about them. Seeing a soft, delectable caster hiding among a group of creeps and knowing that jumping in meant certain death made the game deeper. You could lead the
