I have the same problem. I have triplets of two characters. This makes the campaign much easier since they have duplicate gear as well. The problem comes later on when you cannot get rid of the duplicates from your army and you are forced to take additional characters that progress the story. Once you fill your army and technically overflow when you battle, it kills off the extra characters until after the battle is complete. Those characters will suffer death penalties and also not gai
