Units are very useful and great... Late game.
... I'm not so sure it did ;) Can't recall any historical bow on melee duals off the top of my head anyway.
Absolutely wonderful post, and one that expresses my feelings exactly. Here's a couple simple solutions that really haven't been suggested yet for each issue: Champion SoD: This is simply a problem with balance. Really the easiest one to fix. Champions are too powerful mid game. Simply adjust their XP curve to begin really ramping up around the middle levels (probably starting at 7 or so). End game this is not a problem,
Can we confirm that tags are working again? I'm not going to test until they are. Seems pointless.
Yeah, I think this is a great way to really bring the lore of the world into play. It makes things much more interesting as well.
Then in yesterday's market you shouldn't have spent a penny under any circumstances. Games better. Not good enough for a demo. It might be okay by 1.2 (which is in beta now), if they make a couple of important adjustments. Ask for one in a month or two.
... You don't really understand the purpose of a beta, do you? It's not just balance testing, you know?
So the Arcane Weapon thing is a bug. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but there is now a popout menu when you cast a spell on a stack that has multiple valid recipients. Unfortunately, if there is only one valid recipient, it automaticcally targets the first unit in the stack instead of the remaining valid recipient. There's still one valid recipient, so you can do it again, and again...
Yeah. I'm actually thinking about playing a game against normal opponents with auto-resolve and no champions/sit at home sovereign. That would be more like playing with the same restrictions the AI has.
I think it has more to do with the number of people having bugs and issues. I personally have more CTD on my laptop on Civ5 than on Elemental, but that's a very rare case.
Then again, with the title. "Why should I buy the game?" seems a little harsh, it should be rephrased "Should I buy the game?" I think you should not get the game and wait. Again, you buy a game because you want to, not because you have to. Other wise you will have a mess like Civ V where critics say "You should buy the game" which is completely wrong.
I was following up until you made a snipe about Civ5. I understand pe
On a plus note, the AI is way better at building up than I am. Even on hard they have better armies, better tech, etc. Unforunately they suck very very very very very badly in tactical battles, so I can defeat a disproportionally powerful opponent with no losses at all, which kind of ruins the point. The current algorithm seems to pick out a primary target, and makes every unit target this primary target (who can then run around kiting opponents). This is really really really really r
joeball, I suggested the degrading armor idea as well, and I completely support it as a possible solution. Other solutions include: Making armor resist a percentage of damage which softcaps out (similar to MMOs such as WoW) Adding an armor piercing mechanic available on certain weapons or certain troops. Lowering the effectiveness of armor (I personally hate this one, since it leads directly to the one shot kill gameplay of pre 1.1) Making

Every aspect of the game is pretty much an exploit that guarantees a win, so there's no actual gameplay. Hence, it is unplayable from a gameplay perspective. Oh, give me a break. Granted, Elemental has its problems, but it's not even close to what you describe, and this kind of gross exaggeration really doesn't give anybody a compell

Unfortunately armor will be super weak vs same-tier weapons if it gets a one tier drop. A group of 12 with strong weapons will bring the metagame back to high attack, large groups, first hit = victory. And we know that the AI will never get the first hit. It would make more sense to have each armor type give a percentage of absorbtion (balanced so that fully maxxed defensive gear reduces damage to 25% or so). In regards to gold, numbers need to be normalized drastically. A couple of f
Warning: this is a long post, potentially off-topic, but from my perspective. Part of the problem with Elemental was that Stardock promised more then what they were capable of delivering, which is why the game came out in the state it did. Stardock was overambitious, which can result in bad design even with the best intentions. It was unreasonable to expect a small studio to produce a game as good as M
Why make your sovereign smart? You get more damage from a warrior sov and can cast all spells with 5 int anyway.
But... wouldn't you need an army strong enough to destroy the city in order to siege them? And then, why not just capture the city?

Don't agree at all that 1.1 is a complete game. Working, yes. Complete? No. Any game with broken/not working mechanics is not complete. End of story. I understand if people don't like Civ5. They gutted a lot of stuff with the thought in mind that a game can have simplified mechanics without losing strategy. I hold to this idea as well, but it's debatable whether or not they succeeded. I do think a lot of the hate for Civ5 comes from long time fans who mistake complexity for strategy,

If you could only see what my puppy is capable of. I love my puppy unconditionally, which is why it's the best.
