OOOOOOhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! So many tidbits:
The maximum amount of mana a channeler can accumulate is based on their essence. At the beginning of the game, a channeler currently starts out with 20 essence points by default (though this number will change during the beta and will depend on how you construct your faction). When channelers gain levels, their essence increases. However, channelers can also (and as a practical matter must also) imbue things with their essence

Well, true AI is inevitible, but the only reason an intelligent machine would have to wipe out all of humanity would be if we were in danger of destroying the would ourselves (maybe not even then), so the point is rather moot.

Warehouse 13 is a rather odd show that comes on Tuesdays at 9:00 EST on the SciFi channel (or whatever it's calling itself these days). I think there might be reruns on Thursday, but I'm not sure of the time. It details a pair of Secret Service agents assigned to this wierd facility in South Dakota where various pseudoscientifc and/or mystical objects and devices are stored: hypnotic sound recordings, Tesla stunguns, haunted paintings, and the like. They are sent all over the country looking
Nowadays, (or at least in my experience) every self-professed feminist I've met or seen or heard of has been an extremist, women-are-always-right, there's-no-mental-difference-betweeen-male-and-female, we're-always-the-victim type. And frankly, I just find that to be a less than realistic view.
Then they don't deserve to be called feminists. Those people would best be described as "victemists", although I called them "self-anomalizers" somewhere above.

Ugh! I thought we were going to get another survey. Of course, things could be worse...... he could have created a new accout with the name Frogboy (that's Frogboy, followed by a space so as not to show up as taken), then posted that.....

I am familiar with the concept of the many-worlds theory, but I feel it makes more sense if the worlds diverge when the state is set, as opposed to when it is observed. I also understand the idea of the observer's paradox, but I somewhat doubt that it exists: statistical math in an infinite multiverse dictates that somebody, somehwere must be "ob

Some people like salt, but don't like getting wet. [e digicons]:P[/e] I'm one of the anti-RT"S" "old gaurd" (even though I actually heard of the genre very recently). It just saddens me to see a great game idea like Sins ruined by this fad.

Well, best to keep all of our options open, for the modders if nothing else. I realize that the GC2 ethics system is screwed, but the idea of snap choices that can effect the outcome of the entire game has always been appealing to me.
The world needs exactly 0 feminists. Exactly the same amount than needed chauvinistics (I think thats the proper word, sorry if it isn't, just think the opposite of feminism). Where is equalitarism when you need it?
Well, since there are a ton of cheuvenists (that we can't really do anything about- it's not like you can just kill them), you would need a ton of feminists to cancel them out.

175 Replies 645,074 Views

Well, there are some events that you need to take specific action against. From GC2, there were plagues that would slowply depopulate everybody until they researched a tech. The AI would have to know to research that tech. There was also an event that caused super-powerful "dread lords" to appear and attack everybody: the AI would need to know to join forces with people and take them out.

I for one do not see why you shoudln't be happy to be a feminist. In my opinion, the world needs more feminists. A lot more. I also agree with SoFFacet that these "guilt-trip" women are as annoying as the guys who enable them, including Campeighner (who is generally much..... less unreasonable than this).
Perhaps you might have civics (like in civ 4) where you have to choose how you govern your civilization in multiple categories. For instance, for Elemental we could have a civic category called slavery (or maybe even better name, labour) where you could choose "light slavery", "heavy slavery", "no slaves", or even "free the slaves" policy. You would have to pick one (unless contraditions are allowed, but that would be another topic), and you could always research more later.
</p
I'd say if humanity can manage to not destroy itself, nothing will stop us. Nothing.
Not quite true yet. There are some cosmic events (star collisions, vegabond black holes, and the like) that we don't really have any ability to stop. Granted, we'd know about them a long time in advance, but I dn't think that we could develop even the most basic generation ships fast enough...... although if we had a few hundred years warning (which seems reasonable, given telescopes th
