Indeed. A lot of the espionage detractors claim that military force is always a good alternative. This is simply not the case, and a military-only option exacerbates the problem of exponential growth, where empires that are a little bit bigger become much bigger, and steamroll the game. An espionage/diplo system (that is done well) allows you to stay small, yet be powerful at the same time. Bad starting location? Don't sweat it: go for a spymaster victory!
Meh its ok, I hope they do more focus on objects and less on people.
Well, the last episode really resonated with me, but that might just be beacuse it so resembled some of the stuff I have written..... the previews for the next show seemed to indicate that there will be some sort of robot involved......
You know I'm going to have to ask this: Is Elemental part of the same timeline as GC(2)? I've recieved conflicting hints and information about it...... solid facts, please!
MoMer, huh? I for one don't see why you should be forced to take a militaristic stance when you can try alternate ways of winning, which in my opinion are much more fun. This is a TBS, not an FPS: there's more to life than shooting (or swordplay in this case), and the game should reflect that.

I think he's referring to the oft-mentioned idea that Elemental and GC2 share the same timeline, with EWOM taking place in Altaria's version of the Middle Ages. Personally, I think there are too many inconsistencies and Brad's just re-using names and concepts (which he does a lot- there was some ancient game of his that had all the major GalCiv races, but wasn't connected in any way).
True, but that's MoM. In EWOM, shields will in all liklihood be equipment for customizable units, so I imagine that an EWOM shield system would have to either be a spell or something like "armored hide" (and before anyone says that armored hide is out of the question because the only two races are essentially humanl, remember that all thaty magic zipping around during the Cataclysm could easily have caused some.... "minor" alterations).
Well, there's Sadists : Their morale improves as the enemy's declines (for Fallen, of course), Woods/Desert/Mountain/[insert whatever terrein tile you want in here] Master: Immune to any penalties of the chosen tile, and gains speed, defense, and sight range. .... and I actually can't think of any more right now.
As for "going gandalf" that point is silly. A: Ignoring city building to go learn flare is mind-numbingly stupid, B: Using your channeler in battle is risky and unnecessary, and C: You have heros to learn stuff in the field, your channeler should be safe at home.
A: That's why I said you should have conventional research. Because giving up city-building to learn Flare is mind-numbingly stupid, and if that was the only way to learn spells, it would make the g

I'm not entirely sure if I like the "magic as manupulation of energy" approach. Even though I've only actually seen it used in one place, it seems..... overdone somehow. I was thinking of something more like this: All inanimate matter is composed of four elements in various combinations: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. In order of inanimite matter to become animate, it must recieve the fifth Element, Essance. Essance is broken down into two distinct polarities,
Skip the science, it's the worst thing that ever happened to Star Wars. It already sucks the fun out of life, lets keep magic free from it.
Although your claim that science "sucks the fun out of everything" strikes me as a bit odd being posted on an electronic forum, I agree that sceince and magic generally do not play well together. There are some exceptions, as there are for everything, but I most definately want Elemental to stay purely as a magical game. That being
