Eh i'm a bit torn. It makes sense not to have an instant upgrade button availble. But at same time, having the "Retrain" option and having it take a few turns to teach them the new wepaons/armor....meh. Overall though, no units is ever useless as long as you are using archers. The Great Horned Rat teaches us that even the lowliest unit has great value!...As long as you can use their death to kill the opponent >.> tehehe

o.o Personally i've only built cities near resources and seen no absolutely no benefit to building it with nothing nearby. just doesn't seem worth the cost to manage cities that don't give you anything.
I can't seem to find a big tech/troop tree for the races, and i really don't feel like trying out all 10=p I've played as a kingdom and an empire and saw the different tech lines... But i'm a bit curious if theres any difference troop wise within the 5 empires. / 5 kingdoms (i understand that kingdoms and empires get different troops). Or is the only difference just their racial traits?
So far I'm having a ton of fun. UI can always be improved, but compared to MoM it's much better. Personally, there are a couple things from MoM I miss, the BIGGEST being my Undead armies: I love that magic/unit line! Trying to hit enemy units carefully so the zombie can get the last hit and make another zombie is a lot of fun. Will this spell/unit ever be added in? Oh yeah, are there mercenaries in this? I haven't seen any. I'd love to r
One thing I've never liked about stardock games is how you immediately take control of all of a city/planet's influence when you capture it. They need to take a page from civ4's book and track each player's influence in a city separately, forcing you to start at the minimum value when you freshly capture a city but letting the original owner get all the influence back if he retakes it. I hated a lot of things about conquest in civ4 (revolt times, building destruction) but they g
Mmhmm its alot of fun, my only. Only. Grievance i have has just been crashes every few hours, the autosave system has been having issues on my system apparently, so its just been painful >.
Top right has a turn counter. Sounds like a minor kingdom, they are a little strong at start.
Wow thats on normal? My first thought seeing that picture was "So you put it on ridiculous and the monsters was ridiculous?" On normal though...omg. I experienced something similar on Challenging, all i did was run into monters and more monsters..and more monsters...
This is why i love Paypal, and the fact stardock lets me use paypal. Tried walmart? they should carry it.
tried using it anyways? i know with archers it says you can't, but i've been able to fire twice with them anyways lol
I think we'll need champions/sovs able to survive more then 1 shot from a 12 group of archers before we can really worry about their benefits to the armies haha. God i'm terrified to put a champion in an army right now.
The OP is right... they totally lied with the "1000's of units!" line and then this is what we get... This isn't epic. This feels incredibly dull. Wishing I hadn't bought it TBH...
Out of curiosity, how would having 10x the units with everything else the exact same, make a big difference in a positive way? I understand the complaint..i just don't see with the current gameplay set
Normal is very laid back and easy. The enemies still have some half decent armies, but they don't attack very much.
This is what I thought they were going for: This is what they delivered?
Uh, Last i checked you could build massive armies if you so chose to do so, but if you rahter play with only 6 men thats up to you. I'm still working on a strategy, but i'm really liking swarms of unarmored peasants with a good weapon with a few archers and a group of heavily armored troops. &
Quoting Scfs123, reply 5I've been having same issue, i started new game, my first spell i tried to cast was "natures bounty +1 food to city" and it won't cast on the city. You need to stand outside the city (not stationed inside) and in close proximity to it (at least 3 tiles). Hover your cursor over any city tile until the field turns green, then click.
thats..Going to be annoying xD Thank you sir.</

In normal game, i'm trying to cast natures bounty on my city, i have the spell, i have the 10 mana on my hero for it, but it just won't cast it >. Halp?
Just FYI, clicking "load" and selecting the top map when clicking new game, is quite the amusement. You get to play the campaign map!
Eh i've always been a big fan of full version demo's that last for a few hours then you have to buy them. Games just cost way to much to buy them without knowing what they are. S'why i'm such a console game hater heh. Least with PC most games have demos/betas you can play in to get an idea of the game before getting it. I sympathize with some pirates though, the ones in countries that don't exactly have good currencies and are only able to get games online. 50-60
lol i don't understand why "Wizard did it" is not a fitting answer! They have teleport spells >.> and apparently know whats going on everywhere in the kingdom at every given time... Sooooo "teleports tobed chamber, oh noes we's been ambushed! /teleports back"
Sethfc hits nail on the head pretty much. Everythings been destroyed, the world is in chaos, and the current "Empires and kingdoms" are just small groups that are slowly retaking land. Although i totally agree on heros/champions/summons needing to be fixed.
I don't know how people could stand a 6+ player MP game with tactical battles always being used o.o Age of wonders was pretty rough with just waiting on one other person to do tactical battles, let alone 6 heh
