Has there been another release yet? I don't remember seeing one.

Yeah, wasn't expecting miracles here either. I'll prob be getting a new gfx card soon anyways. :)
No good, still get a total lock up including mouse cursor after
Checking now... btw, if DeskScapes is supposed to use the GPU instead of your CPU, why would I be seeing 10-15% usage on one of my cores when running something like a waterfall-loop? Shouldn't it be almost 0?
Nvidia 8800? May be Nvidia's buggy drivers: https://forums.stardock.com/373211
Ahh, interesting, I'll have to send a complaint. Thanks (I did manage to find a short term solution using 'Actual Window Manager' but not sure I wanna pay $50 just to fix this stupid issue for basically a bug.)
I know this is a long shot, but assuming there isn't anything that can help with this annoyance (in say Tweak7, etc), perhaps someone at Stardock will think this sounds like a good feature to include somewhere. :) I run screen savers and I tend to have a lot of windows up--some maximized, and some 'docked' to the left or right half of the monitor using the Windows 7 'drag to side' feature. After a screen saver exits, since they run at much lower resolutions, any windowed/maximiz
EDIT: Bugger, bugger, bugger! Now I get a DIFFERENT crash! The screen turns freezes, or it turns black and THEN freezes!
Bugger indeed. Now it sounds completely identical to my symptoms using driver 195.62. (Except for the 'done with Deskscapes' part, I'll wait for a hardware upgrade, driver patch (har), or just get by with non-video dreams for now.)
Mannn Nvidia you SUCK! :) Yeah I guess it is card specific, I have the same type of issue (only worse since I'm on Win7 so it locks up the whole PC, probably because of the whole Aero-3d UI thing?) where I can only run non-movie based dreams, with a 8800GTX (rather than GTS), 768mb. (For the record I guess it's 8800's of any type.)
Nice public support, stardock.
How many companies do you know that have ANY of their people on forums routinely answering questions for free? There are some but even in those cases it's not the norm to get help from someone at the company. Stardock support has to be one of the best out there!
pinkall's description of the problem is identical to my own, minus the sound stuttering issue, but I suspect that'd happen too based on the 'stuttery' behavior of the mouse cursor. Something else I notice often when this happens is that it's a slow death. Sometimes the screen will just blank out suddenly, but I've seen the PC *massively* lag (even the mouse cursor movement lags, and that almost never happens when a simple application is blowing up) and it gets progressively wors
@Shirley Sounds good. Not a huge complaint, just reporting it as a bug so it can be fixed some time. Thanks!
I'd like to do the same, but see this: https://forums.stardock.com/380920 I imagine we'll need that ready to make it happen. Should be fun to play with when it's ready!
Hehe, try Desktop Earth. I've decided to switch to that one for now since well, it's hot out. :) DE is working fine for me, for over a day. But I do believe that's a 'programmatic' dream rather than video-based. So now we just need to figure out why video-based dreams are blowing up.
Woohoo! (And here I figured someone was going to reply with a "look here, dummy" and a link to some well documented online API. [e digicons]:D[/e] )
Weird, because for me both of those options drop the files outside of all fences. But at least it can be reproduced in one case. Does this mean it can/will be fixed in a later version of Fences?
I think it's the "video based dreams" that eventually lock me up, based on this quote from Neil: "Does the same thing happen if you use a non video based dream such as Vintage dream or winter snow?" I believe Desktop Earth does work fine (I can try that for a day to see), I've only had problems with the looping video dreams such as waterfall loops and such. It's a little hard to test well since sometimes like others reported it takes a few hours before it locks up
Found this: "Dynamic Content" is only created by Stardock Design in creating Dynamic Dreams which require programming." Aww - I figured there would be some way for us lamer users (with development experience) to compile dlls for this, but I guess not? Any plans on eventually changing that and releasing some kind of user API or whatever else we'd need to create these? Edit: Actually browsing the list of dreams available, many of them don't
Oh, cool, that explains a lot!
Snow is also a filter for dreams. Make sure this is not on.
Interesting, didn't know that was an effect. But no, I mean I'm still intentionally seeing flakes because I'm stuck using "Winter Snow"--it's one of the only working dreams for me. I tend to switch backgrounds (well now preferably, dreams) with the seasons.
I had that service running, but no more. :) Not sure when I'll feel like testing whether that fixes this issue, though. (Screen lockups are kinda scary.)
Yes, I think so. When I right click on the "temp" fence: Organize->Place all new items in this folder by default But it no worky with 7-zip ! [e digicons]X([/e]
Could your graphics card be overheating? My 8800 GT had the fan speed set at 30% by default, resulting in high temps. I use THIS to set it to 100% and the temps come down to a reasonable level. You can set it to whatever level you feel comfortable with. You have to register to download it but it's well worth it.
This may be a problem with the above theory. I don't know if he's around to confirm but i
Bah, this isn't cool. DeskScapes is half the reason I purchased OD. I was fine with a snowy background for the winter but now we're well into the spring and I'm still seeing flakes! [e digicons]X([/e]
