Hey everyone Perhaps its me completely missing something... I've been attempting to download the update, but I havent found a location to do so. Unlike previous times (Since patch 1.01) where the game has directed me upon starting to update, unfortunately it has yet to do so. Running into this, I've been logging in to Impulse both from the game itself and from the website. The game allows me all of the usual choices (chat, friends, etc)....but no usable up

Raven is correct on this. The one issue is that the player might not know which city "Isuuthma" is, given the randomness of names. As the map is uncontrollable at this point of time, a player can easily forget which town is being leveled up, for any number of reasons. Without seeing the details, one is left making a random decision.

Can appreciate the concept. It would certainly give Heroes a greater non-combat use (as some of them are specifically meant for). A problem that would arise from teaching the peasants would be the numbers/ micromanagement issue. Not to say it wouldn't work. Perhaps what could work in a similar manner is that a hero essentially "invests" his time in the city. Being selected as Governor, each turn with him being so would contribute to an overall percentage relating to hi

[quote who="Troggie87" reply="14" id="2758638"] Wow, post explosion. Sorry, I think a couple of you misunderstand the core of what I am driving at, so I'll try and distill it down without examples. 1.)Forcing the main character to give significantly of himself to integrate magic into an army violates the cardinal rule of RPG design: always make the player feel like their character is growing. Currently Elemental treats the sovereign's essence like any other resource, except th

Indeed. I've run into the problem where the turn wont end unless I literally watch the animations proceed on screen. Where is that switch when you need it?

Completely agree with the first part. Second idea is, at very least, good consideration. Of course there would be technical issues that would come up (like subduing a level 69 dragon), but with that left to the side, it would be very feasible to introduce a type of unit that could 'pacify' animal creatures, if not made as a spell in its own right.

Agreed with the necromancy and concept of Golem armies. Magic in the game is certainly going to be given an overhaul, and adding these additions would give a natural variety, if of course they are balanced with regular combat units.

Adventurers So adventure creatures really dont feel terribly different from any other creature in the game other than appearance, name, etc. It would be a wonderful thing to have some way of influencing/ encouraging Adventurers to do something beyond stand/ shuffle around the map much like the other creatures in the world. After all, for anyone who has played dnd or a role playing game, we know very well how these adventurers would be acting. Since Many of the Tech tre

Agreed. With every store stocking every item upon being researched, there is something that feels off. The idea of different items being in separate stores seems important, to give the game a more "role playing" feel. For instance, one turn after plopping my town down far away from its fellow cities, it can sell legendary armor and create powerful units (limited only by number of citizens). Though it would change the gameplay, I'd like to see a more realistic developmen

Agreed. On several occasions I've begun the game when exploring out a few tiles, and BAM! Spiders spawn next to my Sovereign and attack. I can't imagine a more epic conclusion. Seriously though, the creatures do feel a tad bit overwhelming in an annoying sort of way. It would be more story like for the game to initiate spawn points via Bandit Camps, Spider's Nests, etc - cut down on creature numbers through cleansing the region, and also stop the random spawning. <

Started new game with latest patch, and the number of times I've been declared war upon officially doubled when two empires did so back to back! They did not like my viking style razing action though : )

Wow! Kept hearing no update would be out this week (at least from my end) and yet here is one to catch everyone by their nose! Love Stardock!

So the game has been out for nearly a week! Some love the game, some hate it. But one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that there is both a need and want to see more added to Elemental. As most of us are aware, Stardock is one of the few developers out there who participate with their clientele in designing their games - They will probably read and possibly might even contribute to this thread. As such, that gives us a great opportunity to see our ideas implemented into the ga

This little bit would only solve the Barren look of the game, but... There was one point where some opponent was studying adventure immensely, and so all across the board are towers and dungeons and huts and.. I thought to myself, now thats cool! This looks like a real fantasy world. Then I realized that upon completion they would disappear. That said, I didn't even explore the places in order to add umph to the map. Now the performance issu

Agreed. In all likelihood there will be notable additions to the tech tree, especially with future efforts for game balancing. Someone mentioned about rushing and they are completely right. Excluding AI issues, I've played several games now where I've moved quickly through the tech trees at a quick speed, with warfare having the most diversity, civil have a moderate some, while the rest feel paltry in comparison. Since Magic will need a good overhaul in some form, perha

Not that there are terrible problems on my end, but indeed a bit of irony. Had a three year old laptop that I loaded the game onto which was technically below minimum requirement, and have to admit I was impressed. Then it died on me. So today I went and got a sturdy desktop with quad processor, decent graphics, big chunk of ram...and the game now runs slower. No big deal, still playable. Yet if only every game out there could act like thi

I came across this game randomly two days before its release date, and have been paying attention to the forums ever since, though not being able to contribute. So its time for me to say a big thank you! Im not a developer to any degree, yet have waited for nearly ten years for a substantial merging between rpg and strategy; Stardock, your the first Ive seen successfully pull it off. The crazy thing is, it doesnt even feel like the game has reached a fraction of its po
