Perhaps titan could be used in some way, but it implies a largeness of some sort ! In power or otherwise. Also if you read the bit of about the fallen again, i rather get the impression that the "powers" are something quite different than humans.. Plus they would be more interesting than if they were powerful humans..

Medieval total war 2 perhaps ? .. or Empire Total war when that comes out next year.

Like the one with one being some big evil power facing several lesser powers who combined might be strong enough to hold the enemy back.. of course, other things might complicate the whole deal [e digicons]*_*[/e] Betrayal and what not.. and who knows, that big alliance might require sacrifices, and along the road might be temptations, temptations of power making you as powerful as the big evil power.. Oh the possiblities ! .. really hope they think about this as a mode..<

Some of these powers selected men of cunning, brutality and might. They created an “improved” or “idealized” version of men that came to be known as the Fallen. To be honest, the only battles i can imagine lasting longer than one day would be sieges, and usually after the attacker has been bloodily repelled, yet not broken by the defender.

None is really better than the other i suppose, it all comes down to personal preferences, personally i prefer HoMM V, a great game that became even greater with the expansions. So personally i would suggest that.

He's got a point, at this moment it is looking rather rough and probably needs some more shine before they show it off, just my two cents, no point in advertising like a madman if nothing is really there to be seen.

Drow ? As far as i can see these are former humans, selected for some traits and then empowered in different ways, so while they are physically stronger, they are a bunch of bastards not able to work well together :P Not sure if there is something to compare them to.

Some might have had it from birth, others might have gained them from a crystal shard and others might have stumbled upon ancient texts telling them how to. And i am sure there are many others as well, though i am not sure how this will play into the rpg and strategy elements, i mean in what way is it ? Why should i be worried ? I know next to nothing except that it will be akin to Total War, so large scale real times battles as far as i know. There probably are some screenshots showing it off.. just hard to find them.. In any case they would be early representatives of something that can still change.. So this might just be me, but isn't this worrying about nothing ? Until they give us something solid, we really can't say anything about it.

Isn't it more how it is used than the magic itself that is evil ? I mean some spells might inherently be bad, stuff like soul sucking.. and possibly raising the dead. But in the end, why limit one school of magic to one side ? A few spells, sure, but whole schools seems a bit dull and restrictive.

Not really. Makes it more intereting and makes it more important to use your wizard wisely, otherwise i could imagine safeguards, though they would require a lot of work, stuff like phylacteries akin to D&D liches i suppose, i mean this is a fantasy setting, so might as well use it to it's fullest.

Well this definately is starting to sound like a very interesting game without a doubt. Of course the question is to what extend this goes to, i mean what unit.. types i suppose one would call it since there aren't any specific units anymore ;) Will there be magic wielding units ? or will that be beholden to Heroes and the Leader ? and this training, what benefits could be granted from that than beyond just making them tougher in combat ? Could it be used to create engi
