Yeah, this thread is in a playful spirit, hence the fact that nobody has said anything too negative about the game itself or the creators. That said I find the 7 gildar tyrant to be really funny... I had a lot of "beggars" in civ 4... civilizations that fell hoplessly behind but they kept demanding stuff. "Sure, I'll give you the compass... I mean everyone else has planes already" Have not run into anything too crazy on my other games except maybe the fact that I was "evil" (a

Happy to hear that... I'll give the game a few days before I jump in hardcore and start working on my review. The schedule we publish on is more informal than magazines/sites so that should help get a better feel for how this game is going to play.
3) Also if you want food you need to click on fertile ground (or some equivalent) within your borders and it will give you the option to build a farm. Yeah, I had to figure that one out by looking on the forum, it is not that elemental and playing the beta taught me to do things a different way. For gold you want gold mines, merchant npcs, tax houses or markets or any building that sounds money related. With houses, money and gold you can get real far. 4) I've seen a bit of saturation
One of my first ideas too, but I like the look of yours so I might be all set. [e digicons]^_^[/e] I am waiting a few play throughs before I use any mods though, I need to "review" the game for my site.
I guess in the final release he is not Warlord or Master... just Verga. Like Madona or Prince. Just you know... phallic.
Interesting, the patch focus mostly on crashes, not on gameplay, such as AI and balance. When are we going to see gameplay polish?
I think the zero day patch is all about polish, AI and that stuff.
Nice to see the ice spell updated, I was wondering why it did not have some added effect to make it stand out. Cant wait to play tomorrow with all the nice updates.
The bear kill is pretty awesome... take that you crazy homeless emperor. I kind of learned how to gain the system in medieval 2 with my assassins but I agree that sometimes it was hopeless. Still nothing like blasting a member of the royal family (total one in 100 shot) with a flaming ballista bolt in terms of pruning the royal family tree. I'm liking this forum btw, I feel like I can mention any strategy (especially war) game and people played it
I pre-purchased Civilization 5 and Elemental the same week, I'll play both to death. I do expect a lot of mixed opinions on this game though, it is pretty far off on a limb so I can see one group of people feeling like it was tailor made for them (I swear they snuck into my brain at night and made a game for me) while others will hate it (omg no rocket launcher!).
So I have not gotten to play much but I've got one goody already: So I've got Magnar for a neighbor and he is being surprisingly friendly given our alligiances, inviting me to send over caravans and all that. Of course once I do he decides to attack me, which is cool, let's call it deception. Good strategy. Well right about that time I had started construction of a team of 4 mace wielding, heavily armored warriors, but they would not be built in time to stop his armies... so h
For some reason I thought you meant pirates within the game, I was like "oh great, bandits attack my ships too?" Yeah, pirates get games way in advance through mysterious means, so I'm not shocked. Still Stardock has totally the right attitude, I rarely prepurchase a game but them letting me get into the beta and listening to the forums suggestions is a huge incentive to not only buy the game, but buy it at full price (instead of 6 months from now).
Perhaps those lowly peasants are only meant to be canon fodder... Actually it is sort of similar to Total War with its un-upgradeable units
Perhaps, but when I was playing the BETA for a while finding shortswords was a common reward so I had a dozen of those in my inventory that I wanted to give to my peasants rather than sell them. I probably would not give a peasant the best of the best but if I find a sharper stick than the
Also... use whatever unit you use to create towns (usually pioneers) to establish farms where your town cant reach but within your borders. Took me a while to figure it out in the beta, feel bad about the towns I starved while I figured that one out.
I'm glad to see that Tom Chick is playing the game, I used to love his articles back in the day... lots of great vs games for strategy games that did not get a ton of press otherwise. Either way bugs or no bugs the game is modable and Stardock is good about patches so it should be pretty smooth real soon. And of course here I am opining when I have not played it yet... I'm at work and I left it downloading right before leaving. Cant wait to put in an hour or two before going to bed wh
All I'm going to say is that custom races/factions really sold the game to my friends... so if you guy's want extra sales I think more custom options are better.
Glad to see people digging the graphics... so far I do too. Also I find that stylized graphics age a lot better than realistic ones...
The invalid registration thing should be temporary based on what a mod is posting. Scared me though, that is for sure.
Well the game is almost out... who else is looking forward to laying seige to their foes with Warlord Verga? I might have to create a campaign that is entirely themed around spanish cursewords.
Since it is no real taboo to mention Civ 4 on this forum I have to admit I love playing LAN games but when I play online with my friends (everyone at their own house) the chat just does not really work. I would love to see this game have a good chat system that integrates either into the announcements or in a tranlucent box that darkens when clicked. Maybe for a patch or something. That way people can enjoy this game online with a proper chat or even some good role playing. Any though
I'm sure somebody can mod it in, and who knows how crazy the mods for this thing will be, so I'm not too worried that it might be too late for the devs to jump on it.
So locations are great for gold, loot and experience but it would be nice to see them trigger some other stuff like angering a hoard (put monsters on map), unleashing an ancient evil, cursing your capital (see city affecting spells) or even do some good stuff like spawning a new hero, granting a temporary town boost or whatnot.
Hope so, I like a little rock/paper/scissors.
I hear he'll be called Maestro Penis in the Spanish translation, to avoid confusion.
Would probably get past a few people. It reminds me if Sergio Aragones and his series Groo. It was like Conan The Barbarian but silly, for those who never read it. The writer would use words in spanish like "smelly" or "hairy" as names for tribes and characters.
I've never seen a fantasy game where this was not requested, so it might not be a bad idea to do it. How about throwing in 50% of the damage from a second weapon AND heavily increasing the Str. requirements. That means most characters could only wield a dagger, adding maybe 2 or 3 to the attack. And I would not mind seeing archers (and everyone else) being able to have a second weapon to switch to.
I'm having a lot of fun despite it being a Beta, the only problem are the Crashes which happen when you start to win. Here's the really basic stuff that probably everyone knows but I'm just figuring out: 1) Build a research building right off the bat. 2) Get up a level or two of adventuring just so you can clear obstacles (such as monster dens) 3) Unlock "housing" so that your city is not stuck. 4) Build Pioneers and send '
