Baffling. This is actually to help tech support identify whether it is a common problem or maybe something specific to the user. If it is a common error, then there is a error in the program. If it is isolated, then there is a conflict with the users machine. Also, we'v

Works fine.
I am not sure why someone ALWAYS feels the need to come to a tech support post and tell us all that everything went fine for them. Baffling. ANYWAYS.. I got two flubs with Chrome, downloads for 15 minutes or so then I get an error (unknown network error). Maybe third time is a ch
I don't know if there are others, but the quest location "Cobwebbed Ruins" is labeled as weak, but it spawns a Ravenous Harridan, which would get a weak label on the adventure map.
I think the quest he is referring is the Kill the Trolls quest that seems to be bugged. You kill the trolls, you get the reward, but then for some reason you have to fight another with what I assume is the quest giver. Advice for this one. Just refuse it, unless you run across it with an uber hero. Then of course smile as spread their internal organs all over the tactical map. As for maul, this is the #1 cause of reloads in my games. I know things like the animations and movements may seem like a small thing, and in the grand scheme they are, I just wanted to say they new ones look great. This is a fun, quality of life improvement that I am looking forward to quite a bit. Great job! CM
ugh, I just ran into this bug, but I haven't built any adventurer's guild. Are there any other buildings that do this?
If you have a unit that casts a spell or takes an action when combat starts, like the Empire hero with mass curse, AND they have the highest initiative, I have noticed the action go away in that situation. Sometimes with noble legacy as well. As people have said, passing or moving your turn seems to bring the next units action bar up.
I can see how bigger tactical maps would solve the issue without making ranged weapons too necessary. By the end game, you can put archers on wargs with init+ traits and items and completely clear a map before the enemy gets to move. You don't particularly want that at any point in the game I think.
There is a double problem with this when they come out and stomp on you. Some times when you do kill the rampaging gods, the trigger for their death is not activated in their controlled lands so you can't send pioneers out to grab the goodies that are sitting in their areas of control.
Malsqueek - Those are some great ideas. Another possible addition: 5) A trait where you get a bonus against enemies with higher initiative than you (an opposite finesse trait - call it stalwart or something) CM
Hello - Hopefully someone can help me with this. First, I live in Singapore, and I use Starhub as my ISP. A couple weeks ago, I found I was unable to get the beta to open, as there were some connectivity issues (I got the unable to download datafile pop-up - at the same time Steam was having issues as well). After a long while wrestling with this, I got around this by using a proxy server (proxy.starhub.net.sg 8080 - I found this idea from someone posting about iss
I think you may want to rephrase your title. Sounds hawt. Henchmen seemed to be unable to use mounts as well as ranged weapons.
I hate having to use any sort of shell program to access my games. While nine times out of ten it works well, the tenth time, the time I forget to go into offline mode when I shut down my computer and then go somewhere with no internet, when the client locks, and so on really really frustrates. That said, if Steam is the only option for direct purchase from developers, then I will use it. Like my coffee, I always go out of my way to make sure I am buying as direct
I though I would revisit my thread here. I did concentrate on a melee sovereign, with great success. On beginner and easy. I am able to beat the game fairly regularly on those settings, to the point that the AI doesn't really offer much of a challenge. Thanks again for all the advice and help. it really did make a difference! I cannot however make the jump to normal. I have done everything people have said in starting the
There has to be a better way to deny the AI access to your territory than demanding they leave every turn. And then, if you miss one, up pops an outpost in the middle of your empire. Maybe a treaty status? Or even a toggle that says deny access with an appropriate diplomacy hit if needed?
The adjacent armies thing is actually from Age of Wonders, not HoMM. I don't think it would really help the problem at all though. Personally I think ZoC (the first solution) is the most elegant and intuitive.
Ah yess, thanks for the correction. And all the cool kids like the second option! Personally I would prefer either A or B, but I thought some people
I am sure this has been brought up before, but I think there should be some sort of movement restriction with spaces adjacent to armies. Nothing in the world is more frustrating as my army sits there picking its butt as some random woodland creature walks around them and then destroys the city behind them. There are a couple options I think to make this less of a problem: A) Make adjacent spaces to armies blocked for movement (ala civ 2), B) Make adjacent armies f
As an aside, I have been feeling like auto-resolve gets around this issue. It could be my imagination. CM
I must be doing something wrong then, since monsters seem to be the number reason sackers of my cities. It is extremely frustrating watching the AI build a city next a drake or obsidian golem, only to have the mob wake up, by pass the AI cities and buildings, and come smash one of mine. I agree that the AI city spam needs to be addressed, but with the randomness of survivability and viability at the beginning of the game, increasing mob attack against human player
I was playing a game where I settled my second city in a great place, close, 5/3, on a river, and so on. Predictably, even though I had cleared out the area quite carefully a lone stalker had somehow been missed, which then showed up with my army one square away and demolished by brand new city after killing its one militia (which, I personally feel, is completely frustrating and idiotic, but that is neither here nor there). I go to resettle after destroying the offending creature and th
I just started getting this message this afternoon. Game goes to a splash screen with "beta" on it when I start it up, waits for a while, and gives me the pop-up. I had played earlier in the day without a problem, but now I am unable to start up the beta. I do live in Singapore, but there had been no issue until today. I hadn't changed any of my settings between games. EDIT - Well, it seems a dolphin might have gotten all tangled up in the interweb lines between her
The autoturn trigger has to be revisited. The turn is cycling while there are un-slept units with moves, cities without production, and so on. It becomes all but useless in the later stages of the game, and is frustrating to say the least.
I have had this occur a couple times to me. The actual armies don't matter (I believe) and it seems to be a glitch. When it happened for me, it would start happening all the time. A restart clears the issue. CM
Incidently, if you lose this second random battle, which is common, you are credited with completing the quest and you get the loot, but all your guys die and there is now an angry army of baddies on the map.
Thanks for all the posts! I was using pre-generated sovereigns to get the hang of the game. My usual order was similiar to WoM: Build a city, explore some chests, kill a couple monsters, and do the quest. There is where I was going awry. Almost every time I would get slapped like a red headed step child whne trying my first quest, so I need to lay off. My next game I will work on designing a ranged sovereign, I think that migh
