What settings during random map creation determines how frequent you'll run into land you can settle on? Much like in Gal Civ 2, I find that having lots of land to create new settlements on just creates a lot of tedium, in that you have to micromanage to many cities. However, at the same time, I've also had maps that have next to no usable land for creating cities. I looked in the online manual but didn't find anything that answers my question.</

This is actually a carry over from previous versions. I was going to report it sooner but I've been preoccupied lately. Whenever I cast the death magic spell Corruption on any shard to turn it into a death shard it causes the shard to vanish. If I hit the Next Turn button and I click on the space where the shard used to be I do get an option to build a death shard temple, but there isn't a shard showing in the square. Once I start construction

Taking away stats just turns games into a FPS clone but with swords, much like Skyrim.

Middle Market games are primarily what I buy. I don't buy AAA titles any more. Oblivion was the last one. AAA titles are marketed on consoles as well as PCs. This means the game has to be dumbed down for the console audience for fear of it not selling as well. Middle market games also tend to bring more than just graphics to the table. I don't care about stupendous graphics. My primary concern is if the game is fun and it has replay-ability.&n

The bigger the better. Unfortunately, the largest maps in War of Magic seem more medium sized then large. I realize of course this is due to memory limitations though. I always played gigantic maps in Gal Civ 2.

For me its a toss up between Fallout 3 fanboys and Civ 5 fanboys. But the Civ 5 fanboys actually made me not want to buy the game period, so I have to give the award to them. I stopped by the 2k forums a few months back asking how the game compared to Galactic Civilizations 2 since I have never played any game in the Civilization series. I ended up getting flamed by a bunch of people for daring to compare a Civ game to any other game. They acted l

The area of the game I feel most needs work is the AI, however you have already expressed concern with this in another thread and have already said you'll be working on it extensively after 1.1 so this isn't what I will discuss. Instead I want to talk about tactical combat. More specifically, diversifying the weapons. I am going to make a few references to MOM. I know, Elemental isn't MOM. However, there is one thing that I feel this game lacks t

If you have any mods, you need to delete them. If you are playing an old save from 1.07, you need to give up on it and start a new game. I had the same problem. Icecrowns mod was the culprit. It is not compatible with 1.08 because of the way the mod works. He didn't just change the spell graphics but also copied all the spell information from 1.07 and made it a part of the mod itself.

The only problem I have with Elemental right now is the AI. Its pretty bad even on the hardest difficulty. Stardock has fixed most of the big issues already with performance and stability (still some OOM issues though for some people). However, Brad has already said in this thread that he isn't happy with the AI. He has said a few weeks ago that he will be taking a sabbatical after 1.1 rolls out and working full time on the AI to make it truly something to be proud of.

I'm having the opposite problem. The game is way to easy regardless of what setting I choose. AI tends to go to war with me almost immediately after I make first contact and then never make any units, or they just aimlessly wander around with Sions. I never get attacked unless its a sovereign doing the suicide maneuver.
