Spell: Tactical spell that gives all your allies a bonus vs. missile attacks **Do we know the name of the air elemental in the world? 's Elegy / Lament I sort of see the elementals as being a tragic byproduct of the world breaking, and these once-protectors going mad and now needing to be destroyed. Even though they're insane, there is still a part of them that is probably somewhat... lucid

Armor : A magical breastplate with increased defense Morian's Ward / Morian's Guard / Morian's Shelter The idea was to use an elemental from the game world to keep it thematic. A nature Elemental would have been a protector of life, I assume, before going insane and tearing things up. Even if it isn't exactly one of these names, something along these lines would be great.
Unit Abilities: Unit starts at 2nd level Battle Scarred Weathered (Edit: Didn't see that someone had already offered this - but it's a good one!) These give off the impression of a unit that has survived in a harsh world, broken after the Cataclysm
I don't know for certain, but I think the heroes just have one trait, and stats that are random. Ideally, you would want someone with bonuses to mining/farming/production to have a high charisma, so you can just plop them in a city and get their trait bonus plus the prestige bonus associated with their charisma, but I don't think it balances it out like that. You can have some great stats for warriors on a hero that provides a production bonus, so you just have to sort of pick whi
@Fistalis, I only say this because I think you would want to know, but I think you were looking for the word "etymology" which is the study of the history of words, whereas "entomology" is generally reserved for the study of insects :) I don't say it to be rude, but it just seems like you would want to know that! That being said, I don't think words like that are considered "taboo" in the sense that you mean, because our language is fairly open here in the US (unless you aren't from t
Okay, I must have missed that. Regardless, if you use those words and are okay with them, there is no need to offended by a different opinion :) Life is full of opposing opinions, and I choose not to live life in a constant state of offense.
It reveals new heroes and monsters basically, at a higher level. So, if there are still some weaker heroes hanging about, it may just be from a previous tech that you learned. 20% food and mining is pretty awesome in the beginning, but if you've managed to get to those later Adventure techs, they aren't all that necessary, since you're probably going to win :) How are their stats? I know when I've researched those techs, that it seems like the base stats of the heroes have impro
I disagree with the OP even though I'm not a fan of that kind of language, I just don't think it's worth the time policing that. Not only that, and I don't say this in an obtuse way, but I also have a choice to come here or not, so if I'm offended, I can just not click on that Forums link. I feel that the value of being on these forums outweighs my desire to not see cursing :) That being said, I think it's kind of a joke to place the importance of using specific words in a forum
Your main Sov doesn't have an Int requirement on any spells, so as long as he is the one casting the spell, you're good to go. On top of that, you need to have access to each of the elemental shards in the game. At least one fire, earth, air and water shard in your control. As for mana, the trait is a great way to start, but you'll want to snag every shard you can, then upgrade those shards to Greater Shards whenever you can. For the Kingdom, there is Shard
A lot of people have been saying how the settlements and cities all end up looking the same, and boring cities in a game like this is not a good thing! I think one way to get past this would be to implement the ability to have more than one building design per building type. For instance, let's say a modder creates three new designs for the building type "Hut/House/Villa". That modder should also be able to add a function to his or her maps that allow whoever plays those m
I just research horses and throw all my sovs and heroes on a horse so they don't have to sacrifice the armor or the movement. I always make one heir a "movement pimp" of sorts. Boots, horse, magical equipment, cloak so they can have 8 movement points and collect all the new goodies as I research them.
You'll be able to bake a cake in Minecraft starting this Thursday.
Oh, okay, that makes sense. I don't usually research that repeatable armor tech, so that could definitely be a difference maker.
Whoa, how can you bump up to 90 armor? I've maxed out my characters in Legendary plate and I'm sitting in the high 50 to low 60 range.
True, and the fact that you get only like... 12 the whole game even if you do find some, makes it kind of pointless to create units with that level of gear.
Hmm.. fair enough, but Elementium is at least supposed to be rare :) Considering all the spiders and wolves randomly roaming around, I should just find spider mounts instead of horses!
Sarudak, one way to help that is to reduce the "of age" requirement for children. 25 years old is crazy (or however old they are) and I feel like 18 is a pretty legitimate year to get them out there (probably even 14 - 16 if we're in the feudal mindset). Let's face it, the world needs to be rebuilt, and you're going to let your child sit around for 7 - 9 years when they could be out helping? No way. I agree with tana though, the seasons would come and go so quickly, that the bonuses, I
I like what you're doing, keep it up! Is there any way to put up variable styles for building types? For instance, when building a Library, the game could place one of 6 possible tiles down? By the end of a game, if you've specialized, everything just looks the same like everyone has been saying. It might be a nice way to at least have some variety, then you could look down, and easily see which is a Tech city and which is an Arcane city, or whatever other possibility you might ha
Yeah, I'm liking all of these options as well, and they're usable in different situations, which is nice.
That's weird, in every game I've played I have at least 2 Libraries, and in the latest one I have 7 (thought, to be honest, that's a bit ridiculous). I have 2 cities that have 2 Libraries each, and 3 other cities with 1 each. Horses are definitely rare, but they're pretty easy to trade for with other factions if you don't get lucky enough to find it on the map. Generally, I don't need them too much for my basic units, and you can just buy them in the shop for heroes and sovs/hei
I think crystal distribution is kinda random... at least it has been for me. The first 3 games I played, I had mostly water and earth, but the last 2 games I have played have had a ton of fire and air in it. Maybe they tend to be grouped together more in that way?
I just started a game last night on normal and had the following all within about 30 turns, kinda insane 3 farms 2 Iron Ore deposits 1 Oasis 1 Wheat 2 Airshards 3 Lost Libraries 1 Arcane Temple I would say that the resource drought we experienced in 1.1 has been fixed :)
I meant that actually in terms of adding other systems to the gameplay, not the magic, I actually really like the magic idea that came out of it. It makes sense with the Elements and all that, but I feel like it would need a more robust fleshing out to make it more useful instead of just another thing we ignore because it doesn't really effect the outcome of our games that much. Adding a shard level would be a simple adjustment, but I'm not sure how much it would actually impact m
I would say no; a season should only magnify shards that you already possess, it could even be a percentage based modifier rather than acting as a full shard level. You're not gaining mana from the seasons like you do from a shard, so you shouldn't be able to cast spells of that particular element type without access to that shard. Either way, things like this are difficult to justify, because it adds a level of complexity that doesn't necessarily add to the enjoyment of t
I wasn't sure where to post this, since it's not really a Technical issue, so if you need to move it, or if I need to repost it somewhere else, just let me know :) Yesterday, I downloaded the update and started a new game on Normal just to see how the AI had changed and get a feel for the increased map resources (which are great by the way!). In the course of exploring, I stumbled upon an Oasis that was also next to a Temple, a fantastic spot to build in the early game,
