I'm in the "buy it now" camp myself. I feel like the game has made some really significant improvements in 1.1, and is honestly fun in it's own right. There are still some bugs, some bigger than others, and not everyone seems to have the same issues. Overall, I have personally been lucky I think, because I've only had a few niggling issues here and there. Menus that sometimes seem to have a mind of their own, unit card data that seems to change to whatever it wishes, s

Get a grip, I've never seen a chance to win something met with such disdain. A contest doesn't invalidate previous ideas, nor does it mean those ideas weren't considered and then tossed out, obviously that thread was created for a purpose, by Frogboy himself no less. Just enjoy it for what it is, a fun contest in the community and a chance to win a prize.

It was built to strategically lock out portions of the map from other factions. These aren't CIV style cities that grow in pre-determined blocks, you build them as you want within the area of control. It gives them, in my opinion, a much more natural flow as opposed to everything being a square. Good news though, if you like them square you can build them square :)

I feel like there is some confusion between scaling and fixed here... some people will clearly describe "scaling" then say "my vote is for fixed".

I haven't been able to follow this incredibly closely seeing as I've managed to somehow miss every beta window possible :( Anyway, I am wondering if the walls are going to change in appearance as a city levels up? For instance, by level X, the walls will be stone walls, or something to that effect. Is that something already in the game or not planned at all? I've just always found that benchmarks like that give the player a real sense of progression in the build up of cities

Ultimately, I just want to create a race of Sea Bears or Arachnatigers. I agree with most of what people have been saying, that the AI factions should be there as opponents, because I don't really want to create a faction (which I will end up becoming attached to and loving) just so that I can crush it in my fist. I absolutely love the concept of mixed races within one city, I think it adds a really cool concept and creates even more customization, and with enough factions it would

Honestly, you could name it whatever you wanted then give people an option to customize the name. In the end nobody will really know the difference and we might change the name a few times until we realize it doesn't matter :) Considering it's a game all about customization though, it does make the most sense to give the user the choice... unless! Unless the coinage/bits/monetary system is thoroughly tied into the storyline. For instance, atium in the world of Mistborn

Rigma sounds weird to me, but honestly it'll become second nature after awhile no matter the name of the currency. Will there be any breakdowns, for instance, 1 Gold = 10 Silver = 100 Copper = ???, or is there just a single currency? In the end its all the same anyway, just wasn't sure how it was all being done. It would be cool to have the currency fit into the lore, such as what Cikomyr has said, it would add some credibility to the broken world that's being lived in.

I would say the X amount of gold per second is a good idea, but you should allow players to set a cap, just in case they're not paying attention, and suddenly... you're bankrupt. So, Player A sets a cap of automatically skipping the turn once X
Those are two great starts. I'm tired of games where "every city has every improvement," and I'm equally tired of city spam. Both of those problems just turn city management into a bloated, tedious, generic mess.
I totally agree, end game of a Civ or Total War game is just so tedious as you struggle to remember which city needs to upgrade next or whatever, kinda crazy. I

Uniqueness doesn't necessarily need to be tied directly to the size of a city, nor does our attachment to cities only come because of how useful they are to us, but it's hard to infer an emotional bond to a city in a TBS game in the same way as an RPG. In an RPG, characters have specific ties to cities, villages, towns in some way. Maybe it's a character's hometown, they have family and friends there and so for them, to lose that city is a obviously a big deal. For a TBS, lo
