Various quests don't seem to work properly: a) Cloak of Stars quest - completed first section - then the message says "Kill the Dragon" but there's no Dragon or associated quest tile in sight. b- Varda quest - says "Kill the Guardian statues" but there are no statues or quest tiles in sight. c) Ruins of the Imperium Wildland quest - this worked in the end but it was a bit strange - at first I attempted to settle the Imperium tile but they was a message "cann

It might be interesting to allow artifacts to be damaged rather than destroyed in some cases. For example, a magical sword is shattered in combat. In order to reforge it, it has to be taken to a particular person or place. So, the breaking of an artifact would spawn an optional quest to restore it.
In my defense, my main reason for the quote was to see what new folks might think about the wilderness question, particularly the idea that it should be impossible to completely cover a game map with population tiles, but also Jonny's neat notion about linking that goal with independent kingdoms and 'powers' like Tom Bombadil.
I really like Jonny's ideas - the idea of wilderness and the idependent powers too. There co

Fantasy General was great and highly addictive. Apparently it is official abandonware now and there are several sites where you can download it. Unfortunately no one has uploaded good quality mp3s of the complete soundtrack anywhere that I've found. :( There are some great ideas for units in FG that it would be fun to have in Elemental. I liked the Cobramen and the jungle continent in general.

I did enjoy Fantasy General. The best thing about it was the quality music. Relive it some of it here: http://www.marisalenhardt.com/media/Quantus.mp3 http://www.marisalenhardt.com/media/Victime.mp3

However, it'd be nice if the world building tools allowed the creation of new races. I assume that would require adding artwork and 3-d models, but it'd still be cool.
From here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/338042
There are 12 named factions (races) i

Ah, my mistake. Misread this one:
The technology in Elemental is largely the same for each faction with a handful of distinctive early game features that enable special buildings and units per faction.
That 'largely' makes a difference.
On the flipside, though, Kuriotates and Lanun aren't really my favourites by far, nor do I find them very original. That's not to say that I find anything -wrong- with them, but I'd much prefer Doviello, My Order-worshipping Calabim, or Amurites.
I like the Luchuirp for the Golems, but I've had fun playing as Hippus, Amurites and Malakim. When I read that E:WoM wasn't going to have distinct tech trees per faction I was

I think there is a strategy guide for MoM that lists all the spells, but it is hard to come by.

In which case we shouldn't limit our ideas. I'd really like to see a seafaring race. Whatever the details of the magic system, Water magic has got to be more interesting when rivers, lakes, seas and ships are involved.
I have to say, while all the nations in this mod are amazing, the Kuriotates and the Lanun imo are completely awesome ideas that would be nice to see in elemental
What do you like about them in particular? (I think the Lanun are cool, but if GW is right about no serious naval combat then a seafaring race wouldn't be that fun.)
Maybe I'm too old and have read too much, but it doesn't strike me as a problem that the fantasy genre is so extensive--it's an asset for a project like Elemental. So-called originality is a bit overrated in the arts, in part because it is not nearly as common as one might think (Shakespeare 'borrowed' frequently). It's not whether you're the first one to tell a story of X does Y to Z and ends up Q. Its how well you tell that story for your present audience. So for me, it's

On the subject of Fall from Heaven, it is interesting that most of the factions themes described so far in this thread (apart from the xenophobic robots) could be covered by the Fall from Heaven factions: Amurites: Magical Society Balseraphs: Mad Murderous Clowns Bannor: Lawful Crusaders Calabim: Aristocratic Vampires Clan of Embers: Barbaric Orcs Doviello: Chaotic Beastmen Elohim: Spiritual Monks Grigori: Forsakers of the Gods Hippus: Horse-

It might be a bit of a pointless diversion, but let's speculate on the characteristics of factions based purely on their names (which is pretty much all we have right now). It might throw up some good ideas/stimulate some detail leakage from the developers. You could also contribute smaller faction ideas you have, or things you would like to see. If you have a full blown faction idea it probably belongs in this thread . Kingdoms of Men: Kingdom of Al

Presumably for the different factions to be interesting it can't be as simple as Men = goodies, Fallen = baddies. I'm presuming Empires of Men will range from the valient, honourable and good through to shady, exploitative and selfish, while the Fallen will range from the just-misunderstood, got in with
