I left the game running while I went to do a few things, like eat. When I came back the screensaver had locked my screen as it should. After unlocking it, Fallen Enchantress stopped running with a DX Error message.
If possible, I would make the default depend on the resolution selection. If you are playing the game full screen then edge scrolling should be 0s. If you are playing with a smaller window, it is only annoying to have the map slide all over when you mouse out to check email.
I just ran into this also. I also have my taskbar on the left side of the screen. It may also be significant that I probably clicked on some other windows after launching the game but before it actually started. You might be a nice guy, just trying to help people out. In that case you should give your network a name that includes the word "Public" or "Public Access" and you should use a router firmware or a firewall machine that asks people to agree to a code of conduct before using your network. Of course, this doesn't guarantee they won't be doing nefarious deeds but it shows that you at least made an effort.
I usually see the black squares after several hundred turns. It seems to be part of the memory issues in the game. Or it could be a resource leak, like graphics handles not being closed properly. I get a lot of missing graphics at that point not just a few squares. I've seen this problem in every version since the release. 1.1 for sure, and 1.3 for sure because I just finished a game.
This is obviously a bug and not the way its supposed to work, because the city detail shows the increasing prestige penalty and all the bonuses properly. This bug was so annoying that it is that only thing that made me come to the Elemental forums at all.
