If Valve and or Stardock ever does go out of business I'm sure they would make the effort to remove the copy protection and not leave the legitimate gamers hanging. Its likely that piracy would still be an issue if the properties are bought by another company however. I really don't get what people mean when they say that steam slows down thier computer. It uses 1% of my ram and none of my cpu power unless I ask it to do something. People complaining probably have older computers or j

One question, I know the game can't run at 1600X1200 but can it run in a window? The native res of my moniter is 1600x1200 and if programs deviate from that then 9 times out of 10 they look like crap. [e digicons]>_>[/e] Edit: Make that two questions. Since the game was translated from its original Russian, how good is the dialog? Some games can get pretty horrific, Witcher for example before the update.
You could try roguelikes. ToME allows you to play as a vampire in the Tolkien setting. Its rather hard however, the game is very realistic within its limits.
Is the word cloud for the forums as a whole? Oddly enough Channeler seems to be the least mentioned worde I have come across. At least in the ideas forum.
WoW is like delicious fruit. It matures, then grows, then it ripens, then it rots . The first time you bite into a rotten apple will be the last time you bite into a rotten apple. But you will probably never bite into a ripe apple either.
Good article. The only real argument that pirates can come up with is that piracy is fun and free. That doesn't stop it from being a crime. And what they all seem to forget is that the less they support the game developers, the less games we will have to play in the end. I have high hopes for Impulse as a competitor to Steam but I do recognize that Steam is a viable model as well. Steam is a phone home internet activation system, but it bundles that with convenience. Sure it requires
Supply trains are important because it means that most armies would be linked to the empire that sent them. This would prevent an army from simply running to the center of your empire and attacking an inner city. If they make a hole in your defenses you can simply close the hole and the invading army will eventually starve if nothing else. If I was making a system like that I woundn't anything to do with wagon units with Starcraft level micromanagement. But something akin to the control point
The point of a beta is to let monkeys loose upon its workings so that they break it. Then the angry monkeys yell at the developers about how things are broken and they get fixed. The end result is hopefully a good game. Also bananas. [e digicons];P[/e]
Yeah well, I'm not done argueing with myself yet. [e digicons]*_*[/e] Having a supply train might be a pain for you but it could also be a pain for your enemy if you decide to raid his. The problem is doing it in a way that is realistic enough to be interesting but simple or automated enough to be fun. As far as mounts go I think we missed the obvious answer. Make mounts more like cars. Anyone can ride a car, but if you don't know what you are doing then you can't start it, c

You can even download the game through impulse, then uninstall impulse and still play the game. You just need impulse for the updates and multiplayer.
Yeah there you go, updates. I like sins but get entrenchment I have to have Impulse, there is no alternative. I still don't mind though. I figure I will get Valve games over
First, I hope there is no "supply train." Unless the game can handle it well automatically, that's an aspect of war that I would never want to have to manage in a game.
But then would you be okay with managing "upkeep"? Because upkeep is exactly the same thing. My point was, if you want to replace dead members of a unit they have to come from somewhere. In games like MoM new members of the unit effectively appear out of thin air
Occams razor, why not use both? Impulse for Stardock games and Steam for Valve games. I don't really have a preference because I think both companies are awesome. When it boils down to it both programs are really the same thing. They are DRM that requires connection to the internet to update and play. What balances this out is that same internet connection is also used to download the entire game onto our computers, and we can do this whenever and wherever we want. The only re
Since negative karma isn't allowed here, a karma score is just an indication that people think you have "done good". This can be something as simple as making them laugh. If Stardock is serious about any sort of "screening" then actual post content will probably count for more. Don't worry about qualifying for anything, just contributing another unique mind to the conversation by getting involved improves the community as a whole.

Sort of. Just because a city becomes "undead" does not mean that the inhabitants will start building graveyards instead of houses. It really depends on what you mean by "necropolis". Is it just a dead city with no one around to maintain it or a city full of corpses and or zombies?
That power armour is almost a direct balance between Starcraft Marine armour and 40k Space Marine armour.
Not really, a necropolis and a metropolis have the same difference as a swamp and a desert. One has an abundance and the other has none.
The only thing that seperates life and death magic is which way the life is flowing. Death is the absence of life. Are you removing life from a container or creating life to fill an empty void? Ripping life from one thing and putting it into another could be considered death magic healing. Empowering someone to use 100% of thier brain could be considered life magic killing because that the same thing as having a seizure.
lol, poor Luckmann . I still think your scenarios are cool but way too involved for the game. Imo there shouldn't be nearly so many things that could happen any time a unit is hit.
Its actually not that complex. All you really need to keep track of is the health status of both the rider and mount and if they are seperated or not. The individual performance of each unit and its placement would not be important in Elemental gi
The only difference between good and bad complexity is how much of it is relevant at any one time. Too much overwhelms, too little will make for a shallow game.
Oh yes. Its a loooong way off now.
I want a tree city. Or a canyon city built on a giant hammock.
I hope that karmatic selection examines what the karma was actually given for instead of numerical bounty. Thats not to say whoever has lots didn't earn it but there might be one or two of the bad karma farmers and lots of it is given for superficial reasons.
