Its funny because the creater is totally up front about how the interface could be better but he places fixing the interface near the end of the task completion list. If you read the mission statement/planning pages you will see that the game will be "complete" sometime after humanity discovers immortality.

My first guess would be he found a game on Impulse which used Tages. Tages doesn't have nearly the reputation of SecuROM or Starforce but it still makes you jump through the same hoop.

There actually isn't any button in the options to turn on AF. It seems to be tied to graphic quality. I bumped the graphics up to Ultra and there is still a line, but only one of them and it is far enough away that it can get off unnoticed. I disabled PhysX on my nvidia card and the game can now run at least an hour without crashing which is good enough for me. But dear god, my biggest gripe is the Mako handling. The vehicle has great suspension, but the terrain they make you move ove

I was surfing around youtube and I came across a video for a game called Naumachia. The word is a translation of ancient Roman which essentially means "naval battles held in a flooded coliseum". The one vid out there now shows a lot of badass fighter combat around larger starships. On the forum it was mentioned that the game is planned to be multiplayer only, though that may change.

Bring a knife to a fist fight. Bring a sword to a knife fight. Bring a gun to a sword fight. Run from a gun fight.

Well it was either that or a cow. I once got into a very strange conversation in a dream where someone argued that you can't fill a cow with awesome. The reason being the cow is already full of milk, adding awesome would make the cow explode. ..... Yeah, it was a very strange dream.

I would reccomend learning without a sprite based tileset. As I once explained it ASCII is great a condensing information. If you see a red smily face, you will eventually just *know* that it represents a dwarf mechanic. With sprites, every time you try to identify a mechanic among many dwarves you end up squinting around trying to find the one with the red coat. As mentioned above sprites and tilesets tend to run into strange problems. This is due to overlap, some of the characters used in t

Starshatter looks interesting, where could I buy it and does it have any DRM? If it came out on impulse or steam tommorow I would buy it in a heatbeat.

I would suggest the recent versions over the classic 2d version. The gameplay is a bit more complex but the older versions are so horribly bug ridden I don't think its worth it. Very few of the common bugs were gamebreaking but you would run into a lot of strange things. Like farmers planting chairs.
Never played it or heard of it. Short recap?
Its a dwarven ant farm game with a fractally generated world complete with realistic geological layers, multi civilization history, an archive of thousands of historical figures and zombie elephants. Its really much more than that but you get the gist of it. The first thing anyone has to do is get used to the interface. Once you can see the Matrix you will never look back.

I really wish the engine was better optimized for the pc. If I walk down a corridor there are 5 distinct lines on my screen where the textures get less and less detailed. I can't fathom why the computer wouldn't just display the best texture off until the horizon, it is certainly capable. Normally it wouldn't bother me as lots of games do this but the intervals are ridiculously short. Literally every 8 feet away from my character the texture get worse and worse untill they reach "path

My understanding is that all magic comes from the crystals and the only one who can tap that source is the channeler. If your units are armed with magic it is because you have gifted that magic to them at the cost of some of your own power. So if you really want to make a unit of mages that go pew pew pew with the fireballs twice every battle you can, but that would be a very expensive proposition under the system used in Elemental. In other words, unit mana comes from you</st

Civics don't really fit with what we know of the lore. So your people have a witch hunt and ban magic. Don't they realise that magic is what lets them live at all in this crapsack world?

I hated that to a degree. I always played Psylons and rampaged over the galaxy with my supertech hordes.

Anyone who hasn't played MOO yet should go dig it up off the interwebs and run it on DosBOX. There are so many oldies that no one has played or even heard about. They don't know what they are missing.

Its a company called Good Old Games. They sell the old classis such as Fallout and Freespace 2 for reasonable prices. Most games are 6$, a few of the newer ones are 10$. None of them have DRM of any sort and they are *guaranteed* to work under XP and Vista. (some require a lot of tweaks).

Heh I have plenty of other stuff to play. I figure I will wait until GoG.com comes out with it and the expansion. At the rate they are digging up dead games it probably won't take long.

It just doesn't make much sense to me. So you discover writing and some other guy discovers writing. Now you are in a race to construct some library or other. You finish first, and the other guy with his 99% complete library is showered with debrit as it explodes into a pile of rubble then vanishes. I don't get it at all why there can only be one. I think a better way to handle it is to make wonders a one time bonus sort of thing. The first person to build the great library gets the b

Or did the graphics scare you? [e digicons]:S[/e] I love that game thought I haven't played as of late. I am waiting for the next update which should be a doozie.

There is nothing wrong with the rule of cool unless you apologize to people about it yet use it anyway . At that point it becomes an easy cop out rather than the acceptable refuge in audacity.

Well I did some poking around. At first I tried changing the settings and editing the files, nada. I managed to solve the sound problem in another way. When you first boot up mass effect it scans your computer and creates a set of ini files that store all of your settings. It also creates an XML file that stores system information. I followed the instructions in a forum post and deleted all of the above. Then instead of running mass effect I ran the config utility instead. It detected the har
