I'd like to see this changed too. The ranges are a bit drastic. Are you sure your modded file is the one being loaded?
Dearmad
That's what I'm talking about... I think I'll see if I can mod something that simple into the game.
Yehaaa! Niiiiice! One little change to this would be grand: Have their portraits gray out or dim or add a little red icon by them to indicate NO CONTACT is possible when we are in the relations screen. It would make the UI a little more streamlined. Nice addition to the game though!
I've read hints that there is some sort of limit on contacting people diplomatically now... is this true? I cna't find it in the manual and don't seem to have encountered it in the game (DA) yet... has this been added to the game? Also, it would be good if a diplomacy limit was placed on players at war with each other that until PEACE is negotiated NO OTHER diplomatic actions can take place. Referemnce: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=252&aid=104565 I'll double c
Ok. That'll work for me. I can mod that a bit too. Cool! I am curious if they were ever meant to show up in GCII however... were they in the non-campaign games??
I agree. Respect to Stardock. I even bought the Political game more due to the fact that if I can throw a little $$ Brad's way for a game, I'm more than likely to do so. He respects me as a gamer, so I respect him as a game maker. Even if I don't like the game much, I'm more inclined to try it, and certainly pay for it.
I had this error. and am non-beta. The game works but has a startup warning, then before I click OK on it (it's a windows pop-up) the game goes...
If your hands are sweaty thinking about, why not get it NOW- I d/l'ed it yesterday and am playing it. You should too!
Maybe all my games end to early, but in GalCiv II the Dread lrods never showed up to threaten the map when I play outside of the campaign. Also is there any external threat like that in the DA expansion of the game? I've always liked the idea of playing with threats on the map and then a BIGGER threat shows up...
The EG would have retold the highlighted portions of your game as if it were a story. This would have been the single best addition to DA, and easily (IMO) worth upping the price of the game by $10 or so. If this feature can in someway, even in a primitive way, be added to the game, I would be giddy with unbridled excitement.
This is a scary bug. Anyone confirm this one? How is it replicated? And how is the economy nerfed in this patch?
Confirm: Select an improvement and it says FOREVER (or NEVER or whatever. ;o) )to build time UNTIL you double-click it to add it to the que. This happens when it is the first item you are going to add to the que, otherwise it says how long to build it properly.
I like this idea a LOT! Megaevents=COOLNESS.
You use terms like Normal and Bright which are not terms from the same semantic categories in this game. Normal refers to something OTHER than the AI's level of "intelligence" performance. There is Bright and Intelligent, not bright and "normal." Yes the AI over-values its fleets. I posted on this a LONG time ago when we were at v1.0. It still does this. It needs to factor in industrial capacity, your overall tech abilities, and the *quality* of your ships, not the quantity as much
Intelligent was the no handicap level I thought, bright is handicapped a bit. Did this change? So Solver needs to up the level he's playing at to properly crit the game.
I too get multiple iterations of ships on the build menu and can't get rid of them. It is VERY annoying.
So the Drengin declare war on me. No big deal... typical. I want to throw the galexy into turmoil but can't pay off anyone to go to war with anyone else... so I dial up the Drengin (remember, we're at WAR) and say, listen- go to war with someone else too. "OK" they say... for a VERY cheap price! And NOT me offering them peace... Oh... OK... that makes sense. Gamewise, this is silly. I had decent diplo ability, but n

FWIW, I have had AI ships and such appear in *unexplored* territory as clear as if I were spotting them. I don't know why this happens, but it does. Not in the fog of war area but places in FOW AND unexplored (I've never evenbeen there). So there is a bug, but what it is I do not know.
The other thread was mine: https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=102345&cmd=myposts#805143 This is a BIG problem in the game, IMO. Check out the other thread and read more about it. Why on earth SD is silent on this I can't figure out, becuase it's screwing up the dynamics of the political game badly. And then shafts the Ai into losing wars it doesn't need to lose.
I've noticed the AI DOES seem to KNOW where the resource places are as soon as you yourself discover them. Even though Brad revelaed "the code," it doesn't show the subroutine and def calls he's making in detail- I think there could be a bug in the functions that define things seen by ships- seems like the AI sees things seen by the PLAYER'S ships. Not that I care too much since the Ai needs help in a lot of other ways: over valuing the "strength" of its military so yo
Brad, or anyone at SD, you have no thoughts on this? Really!? Even to say "take off you hoser," maybe? It really does make the AI a terribly bad judge of how to play the game.
Count my post as another vote to see the Dread Lords appear in sandbox mode. I'd LOVE an Alterian-like enemy to crop up in the game.
Yes, but those "tactical" choices won't make a whoop of difference if I'm halfway through destroying an empire with my clearly superior ships which the AI didn't properly take into account. Without an economy to build his ships, his blueprints will sit unused. The AI NEEDS to know when it is truly outmatched and then try to design ships that help avoid this. Right now- the fact is it can't.
It is an odd choice... I think it should be in the game- it just seems.... I guess I said odd already not to have it.
