[quote who="scyldSCHEFING" reply="4" id="2735653"]The problem with this feature, and the major endemic design problem with both the development of this game and Demigod, can be summarized thusly: A bunch of neat features were put together without enough thought given to an over-arching design plan that would integrate these features into enjoyable overall gameplay. As a sandbox game, this has manifested itself in Elemental as a bunch of meaningless timesinks. Unit design

Yea I can't play because of lag and low framerate after the first couple hundred turns. Especially when you get to lvl 2 adventuring and you get all those new goodie huts / quest chest all over the place. And I got a E8500 coreduo cpu with ATI 4850

I actually get into a spot where I am not producing enough food to build huts to increase my city. Even though I have farms in each city. No excess food is being made. Maybe I need to research deeper into the civ tech. Does having armies take away excess food?

And overall the review is hopefull that eventually the game will be a good one and positive about Stardock being good game designers, so it's clearly not malicious. I don't think the review appears unreasonable at all. I think there are just people who are so emotionally invested in the game that they view any criticism of it as a per

I think this article at PCGamer is a little slanderous and overtly malicious. Gratefully the problems he complains about I don't even experience myself. And I have usually been a skeptic here. Articles like this one are only designed to hurt and not help. The article is disguised to help buyers by steering people away through blown out of proportion accusations and statements. I believe the game needs work but not on par with the writers complaints. I don't believe its a disastrous launch. Th

Decompression Error: Can not find central directory. Won't install or download. Keep getting this error. Left it all night to download expecting it to be installed. I right click Elemental in impulse and there is an option to resume download. If I do I keep getting this error. Do I need to uninstall and download again? It takes over 3 hrs for me to download. Is there a way I can keep what I have downloaded and not have to download the entire thing again?

Its not about invalid or valid points. You miss the point entirely. Its about allowing freedom to express opinions in a forum environment without bashing their topics. From a dev I think its unprofessional. Only bring it up cause he does that on several posts in these forums. On one hand he exalts the beta testers as a great help to the process but on the other hand he picks and choses. I think to automatically write off a poster points and tell them to play civ5 is about the lamest thing. I

I hope I didn't come across as slamming Stardock or the beta process in any way. I realize the unique depth of Stardock's beta system. I just had to disagree with the notion that Elemental's beta 4 tactical combat is better than MoM's tactical combat. But I am certain that the release ve

So let me get this straight. A beta tester gets on these forums and gives input in hopes to improve the game and the dev basically says too bad - we aint changing it go play another game. I bet your one of those "can i have ur stuff" kinda people. More than once I have seen that same response from frogboy. Sure you may not change everything the poster said - but why come here with a sharp quip and dismiss the poster. He has some good points as others have mentioned. Sorry it is just an

Is it me because I actually feel excited and sad all at the same time now that beta will soon be over. I enjoy reading all the ideas good, bad, or even drama filled. I hope that these forums remain active well into release and beyond!

Sorry if it has already been mentioned. A little fluff idea of being able to name geographical areas of the map that are under your control. Be able to name vast areas of forest, or mountain ranges, and deserts would be cool and even oceans. Even if the area is conquered by an enemy it would be forever the name that you chose.

[quote who="Kantok" reply="42" id="2670654"] Quoting bloodystump11, reply 41 I've only just begun testing the game but this is what immediately hit me about city building. There is no requirement to plan ahead and commit to a long term plan. Everything builds within a handful of turns. If you make a wrong decision, no problem, you can have something else ready in a few turns (on another note, perhaps make building removal take time too ). I agree with this. T

What I liked about Sins is the game wasn't trying to be a city builder . The building was secondary to battle. Building was there to support the main feature of the game - battle and strategy! I don't see Elemental focusing on any single thing. What does it want to be about? Can it make citybuilding, tactical battles, soveriegn leveling and skills, spells, technology, questing, and war all equally brilliant? Nothing at this point ties all these mechanics together. [quote who="Raven X" reply="78" id="2667180"] Tactical battles are designed to be quite short. Our goal is to have them default to being over in less than 3 minutes. However, we hope (though no promises by release) to make a scaling option so that these can be extended or shortened at player request. This part I'm not too sure about. Everything in Elemental Screams "EPIC", but 3 minute battles? That's quite Anti-Climactic, especially if you've worked all game to raise a

Spell Tree What if you could click on a building let's say ... an academy or what have you - a spell research building. And a Spell Tech Tree would appear and you could map out a path you would like to go and it would begin researching or learning those spells separately from the original tech tree? Would that be dividing up mechanics too much? The spell research tree would still be used of course as you would notice limitations within the Spell Tree - t
