With 19 pages of replies, I have not had time to read them all thoroughly, but I have scanned quite a few. The one thing I have not seen discussed is the idea of combat fatigue. 1. Give units a stamina stat. 2. Each round of combat costs stamina, moving would cost less then fighting, special abilities (if any) could cost more to use. 3. Once stamina drops below a certain level, the u
also agree with the suggestions of indicators of loading completion eg total annilalation with its 5 bars that are filled as it loads, or the suggestion of the count of the type of items being loaded. either or both would help to defuse the irritation of the loading process. and my hyperthreaded 4ghz quad core for the win, second goes to my 4ghz quad core, honorable mentions to the dual core 3ghz, dual core 2.7ghz and last place to my 1.8ghz celeron, all have 3gb

buladelu, it is not the frame rate, but the lag per turn in the betas, and I have not tried a tactical in 4b on the 7600 system, but in earlier betas I was only getting the dreaded white screen even with the latest driver versions. harpo
thank you, and keep up the good work harpo
buladelu, I AM running it on a dual core amd at 2.7ghz with a geforce 7600 on clothmap only as the 7600 is not quite good enough for the full 3d game. harpo

upon further testing in my win7 64bit ati5850 system, turning the ingame audio off helps to play approx 20 turns from the one turn oom save, then disabling in windows device manager the ati sound controller with the ingame sounds off I can play approx 50 turns from the same point. based upon this observation I think that there is some ram leak in the sound/music code that is made worse by having more than one soundcard active in the computer in win7. also the OOM point increas
I have had several ooms on xp 32bit with the terminal ram point of approximatly 1.6Gb used byelemental, and even on win7 64bit the terminal ram is always 1.6gb used, and I think it might be useful for them to have the err & dmps available if they want them. and they have found a big resource leak with ati 5 series cards, and I have post a error that hints to the sounds, and it would be a good idea for them to have more ooms with sound suspects harpo
and another OOM from my i7 system with music turned off was able to play over twenty turns from the save game that was OOMing on the first turn after loading and like the previous oom posted it created a zero byte zip & the dmp, so I rared the dmp and added the err, save map & unit folders
I have a save game on my i7 win7 64bit ati5850 system that I load the game from the autosave, scroll out to see the island, then go into the shop from janusk in my capital, buy the best armour and weapon for him, it out of memory errors out of the shop ON THE FIRST TURN AFTER LOADING with the game set to cloth map mode, and it does not create the zip, BUT does create the dmp which I then rared, added the <a title="another ati win7 oom" href="http://dl.d
Harpo, you can purchase the book from Amazon
why would I want to go to a jungle to by a book? and the shipping time from the jungle to australia is 18 to 32 days, so it is a LOT quicker to wait and buy locally I prefer to see the item I want to purchase BEFORE handing over my money.( I know this is old fashioned, but at least it minimises the losses due to fraud) harpo
just some info for the fellow aussies, the book's australian release is the 15th september 2010(according to my sources in various bookshops), and the game's australian release is the 9th of september (according to the info from several of my gameshop contacts) harpo

decided to play a game in my i7 win7 64bit box with dual screens & taskmanager on the second screen loaded a save, when finished loading & displaying game ram was approx 680mb used but as there was 3 shrines in view and the ram was continuesly increasing without doing ANYTHING no end turn, nothing the RAM useage was increasing rapidly ie within 2 minutes it had passed 850mb used, I then stared to zoom out to clothmap slowly, it was NOT until I got to clothmap that the ram incr

one suggestion for reducing the created archer SPAM that the warfare tech give us would be to limit the new units to WHEN the new or upgraded tech (either weapon OR armor that allows new types of weapons or armor BUT NOT on the techs that BUFF existing weapons or armor) that allows the units ie for archers with RANGED weapons short & long bow release. harpo
created a wierd issue by selecting a pioneer while in transport and building a settlement. after doing this I could NOT click on end turn had to end program.when reloaded elemental system re-booted harpo
and another OOM winxp 32bit crash still on fairburn ram use started from ~600mb on load of autosave and built up to 1,513,935mb dmp, err, saves pref.ini & dxdiag and re-starting elemental after the OOM caused a re-boot of the system. noted that thee play time between ooms is approx 2 ho
