capn darwin, in my tiny map test for the bows, I did have some misses, but they were usually on the lower strength 'heros', once their strength got past 14 they usually hit, sometimes with a reduced damage, and I agree that armour seems to be broken. it looks like the damage calcs only look at health, not armour type, eg all plate armour should be bow resistant due to small openings in them(assuming a full suit of armour, but if only helmet then should be almost no diffe

tactical1981, in the options page there is a option slider for tactical combat on the right hand side of the options screen, the default position is 4 drag it to the left to 0 and you have the option for manual battle each time. harpo

wyldrage, sins had a CE (collectors Edition) and the digitial download only was ALSO an electronic CE, but regarding my elemental customs decs, they were by different people, the supply came from different distribution centres, so COULD BE a faulty communication between stardock and their distribution centres OR have been caused by the email asking where my order was. harpo

@wren, when I was testing my fix I had tried a positive number ,BUT the bow did not work AND I had a divide by zero error happen, but with the neg numbers no error, which is why I suggested the negative number. and a bit of old info, the 1.0 version of the file used TroopNumber in place of the negative. harpo

and there is a MATH error in the next line down from BOTH of theMineValue lines NOTE a MULTIPLY by ZERO ie always zero result therefor a MISS. I tried a few values in place of the ZERO and found that -0.1 give a small change of a miss and moderate chance of a suboptimal hit, and even GOOD hits I have pmed this info

there is TWO different errors in the file, the first capn darwin pointed out and could be caught by the xsd checking, but the second is a logic error being the value for the minimum in the calculation in next line, I had replaced the *0 with a *-0.1 and the overpowered bow are back (had also tried with a positive number still got a devide by zero error in elelmental, same as with the MinValue inplace of the MineValue, the /0 error happened within 100 turns, with the -0.1 inplace so far

I also have the same issue in the cartography table, but the maps load and play fine in the game, and the cartography table only lists the maps in the Program Files\Stardock Games\Elemental\data\Maps folder. I suspect that there was a typo in the patch relating to the location of the maps. harpo
