ooms even happen on xp32 bit, so no win7 64 bit is NOT the cause, my opinion is that there aer ram leaks involving the sound code and the animations code, but that is just my opinion harpo
I had a 1.09w, and the actual downloading size was 1.91GB during the download, and the computers that had 1.09d only 45mb, on the beta testing box I had to uninstall elemental and re-install from the dvd 1.00, then it was only 220mb harpo
frogboy, what are the system configs for the turn 2733 play, and WHAT actions typically did you take? I want to know as I have a system that should be more than enough to play the game (i7 930 12gb ram ati5850), but am lucky to get to run 250, and the last few beta versions have been under turn 200 and OOMing at 1.5gb ram used harpo
[quote who="AlLanMandragoran" reply="49" id="2845991"] Quoting Murteas, reply 47 Quoting Munchies72, reply 43 Silly people not deleted the old, bug-ridden, data! Where might I find these files again? LOL! Oh what a good idea, actually give information so people can do what I suggest. You'll find your data in the My Documents/My Games/Elemental directory
my personal sequence on one of my win7 64bit systems is 1 start impulse 2 check for updates 3 then see new patch for elemental is out 4 then test the update to the new patch, if size during download is over 50mb , cancel, 5 click on blue stardock button, then remove the tick from 'show pre-release software' 6 hold down shift key on keyboard while right mouse clicking on elemental, then left click on verify installation in the rightclick menu
played a new game after the usual issues with the update ie had to regress to 1.09e, then upgrade to 1.09w, same settings as last few games, megamap cusomised sov & custom race with 10 ai's various strengths from easy to rediculous, played to turn 185 had crash, debug.err actually said that it finished the autosave as the last entry in the debug.err, <a title="1.09w crash 1" href="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8023186/elemental%20crashes/Elemental1_09w-2010-12-14T21-47-39-279.zip" targe
vaul, sounds like stardock needs some help from you to help locate the bug, I hope that kris emails you asking for you to help track the problem down harpo
thanks for the extra monsters in the 'v', saw a whole bunch of monsters & ruffians that I had not seen in any of my previous games going BACK to beta 2. harpo
yes the machine I am testing the beta's on IS a win7 64 bit, perhaps it's actual cause IS a impulse on 64 bit issue. harpo
instead of seasons, just call them months, ie 3 months to the season, and with the 'kids' taking 25*4 (100)/12= 8.3 years before marriage (see muslims) then the first grandkid typically another 30-40 turns(5 years) ( and what 14 year old is NOT interested in SEX) (puberty), and these are the turn counts already in game and also sales better to the real world ie 1 month walking is typically 100-200 miles (see any large land area country's early exploration usually the horses were used for supp
derek, a quick question regarding the missing 'strange noises' quest, the last time I actually had the quest pop up was back at beta 4 pre-release, and the xml for it is STILL in the game, any idea WHEN we will be able to play the quest again? harpo
savyg, so you have lost your eyes, perhaps you should get some more potato's as they each have several 'eyes' harpo
puntarenas, I have heard that they have located the point of problem and that a impluse dev will have the issue added to their to do list. and I also am having the 2.2gb downloads UNLESS I click on the blue button , then REMOVE the tick from show pre-release/beta, then 'SHIFT' right mouse click on elemental, then left mouse click on verify installation, download AND install the ~40mb update back to 1.09e, then click on the blue button and tick show beta's, THEN update to the latest be
impnic, I have not seen the popcap quest since release, BUT it was working in the original betas. harpo
played a new game on t with all folders in mygames\elemental DELETED other than maps before running, played for approx 3 hours till oom, when checked the debug.err it had crashed during saving, the corrupted zip did not have the debug.err, forgot to include it in the rar of the folders & zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8023186/elemental%20crashes/Eleme
I will be emailing a detailed debug log of the entire download in the morning my time, the download is 1.91gb at 150kbyte/sec and is 35.5% complete harpo
zargon, I have only had this issue with the 1.1beta's & did not have any trouble with the pre-release betas, and for your question on the computer I am using for the 1.1 beta testing I originally had the beta2 and later, all direct download. with the testing I did to help kris the actual download was 7.4mb but the claimed download size BEFORE clicking on the download button was 2.2gb,so the dirtiest fix might be to re-label the download size to program size on the impulse window when clic
any chance that you could upload the crash zip & save games for stardock to attack the bug? harpo
zargon, the steps that I use to go from one beta patch to the latest are as follows 1 open impulse & login 2 click on the blue stardock logo, then remove the tick on show beta's 3 hold down left shift key and right mouse click on elemental, on the menu that opens I left click on verify installation 4 download and install the update for elemental (that resets elemental to 1.09e)(patch size it typically ~40mb) 5 click on the blue stardock logo, then p
and you think that is bad, on normal level all the spiderlings that I see have 15 con, the wolfs are 24 or 18 con, bears are 18 con and the formerly strong bandits are ONLY 15. how can the tiny spiderlings get 15 when they used to be 2 and wolfs being 24 when they used to be 5 and bears used to be 9 with bandits also having been 9-12, and all these are for level 1 creatures and ruffians, not even leveled up ones harpo
but us 'good error reporters' would like to know that our crashes actually HAVE been collected and might help to track the problems down, even a quick thanks reply would help us to know that our efforts ARE helping. harpo
charon, ARE you sure that it was NOT the wench? harpo
I beat the 2gb download bug by opening impulse, then switching OFF the show beta's, then shift rightclicking in elemental and verifying, get the small (~40mb) patch to 1.09e, then switch ON the show beta's, then download the update(~45mb) and like you I do not see any results for my efforts at posting the complete saves, crashes and all files that I am currently playing with when reporting the crashes harpo
whiteelk, I noticed a significant improvement from 1.08 in tac combat on a tower of mine that uses a geforce 7600gs. harpo
