the only way at present is to declare war on them, beat them down and then demand surrender from them, then you get the sov with a broken spirit and needing to heal for about five turns before they can move. harpo

I have killed dragons inside 15 combat turns with one sov and eight companies of archers with the sov casting haste on each of the archers and slow attempted on the dragon and each of the archers hitting the dragon at every opertunity and the sov also casting heal/wellspring whenever one or more archers get injured. note to self will have to look at making a army wide haste spell and an enemy army wide slow spell as a high level perhaps level 4 air + level 3 earth. harpo

usually my dragons cast fear, then waddle up to within two squares of the army and breaths fire onto the entire enemy army and FRIES most if not all of the army, and the accompanying archers fire one or two volleys of arrows and battle over

derek, please lock the ai programmer(s) in a room and refuse to let them out until the monster ai will attack the NEAREST town/outpost that releases them, and afterwards has a bias to attack the faction that triggered the release ie a hatred of the side that caused the wandering so if a player releases a dragon near another player's town the dragon will target the player, BUT if it was released by an ai then the ai will be the target and not only destroy the outpost/town that released it

perhaps a simpler solution to the lack of need for troops could be that each attack by a hero/single unit can only kill ONE member of a multi-unit eg those packs of mites often have three/five members in each of the two/three units(3 health) in the mite armies, so a single hero would take between six and fifteen attacks to kill one mite army assuming curgen's hammer(50 attack) as the weapon in the hero's hand( and at present it is two or three attacks as it each group that gets crushe

another suggestion that might help the player would be' to sort the weapons by their attack value' so that the players do not have to hover over each of the weapons in turn to find the best weapon to equip their hero's & sov with (it might even help the AI to improve it's attack and reduce the defeats it suffers) harpo

my vote was for max essence,food is nice, material better, have found in some of my games a 3 essence, and very definitely GRABBED and defended as hard as possible these locations, the 2 essence gets good defence also the one essence also kept, one sessence also defended reasonably well but 0 essence gets the scrying pool and light defences only just to tempt the monsters to attack it (but they never do any more). harpo
