Why does it suck for players?
Its simple and down to the way the platforms do their competition. Steam competes with other platforms by adding features and building a community and trying to attract a player base. It does this with its forums, elaborate chat and streaming system, built in guides, mods, etc. Steam is not just a store for games but a social platform and it is popular because of this reason. In short, stea

I dont buy epic. I cant imagine epic letting them use their servers for alpha distribution if some kind of deal has not already been worked out.

I always disable tech trading for this very reason. Its too easy to get all the technologies and keep every other civilization almost totaly broke. You effectivly get ALL of their income going to YOU, you can keep your taxes to nothing and keep rush buying EVERYTHING while your populations all max out, then just buy some transports and send wave after wave to all the underdeveloped worlds, invade, and win the game=P Its more fun to play as a total isolationist honestly,

I think the main problem is that the three weapon types are almost identicle, and the three defensive types just match the various weapon types. There is no good reason to pick one weapon over another, as they are all (mostly) the same. There is no good reason to use defenses since if the other guy shows up with different weapons suddenly all that space is useless. If you had brought more weapons though, even though the other guy may have your matching armor, you are st

TEC 1. They aren't xenos 2. They aren't heretics Now will you guys PLEASE include a STANDARDIZED female avatar for TEC in the next update or something?! Preferably with silver hair and power armor. I know it doesn't matter, I realize its being silly, but being represented by captain grumpypants is not my idea of a good time! And due to strange compulsions I can't just do it myself, it has to feel 'official'. Nobody takes pity on us lonely internet weirdos ;_;

huh. Time doesn't travel any more than a location in space travels. its static and charted on just an additional axis. We travel through time, in one direction (and not even at an absolute fixed speed) becuase thats just how we roll, dawg. Anyway in order to not totaly mess everything up(negate free will), if time travel exists than it has to do so with alternate universes, OR if it does not (there are other posibilities), thinking of it in terms of alternate universes simply to clari

Once you understand the games mechanics you realize how broken the whole thing is. Just play against normal AI and pretend you are a real space empire~ If not you will find yourself with nothing but a bunch of research worlds exploiting tech trading and doing massive pushs where you quickly eleminate entire civilizations in a single turn with rush bought battlefleets because they were broke and helpless only having the crappy technology you sold them so you could afford to buy

Meh, so far sabbath wins simply because iommi is a master of conrtast, and music is about the relation between sounds, not the sounds themselves ^_^ On a randomly related note, bach on accordion - i hope this embed works. If not here is a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWGqDeihzE4

Some browser based games are kind of fun, the empire management ones that you spend a few minutes a day on. Though i wouldn't call them games exacly, but i suppose they are just as much a game as chess-by-mail is a game. But yeah 'free mmorpg' is an automatic flag for fail ^_^

Download this: http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=775 to let you casualy browse the tech trees. Though even then it may be somewhat difficult, there are a lot of unique techs or obscure tech combinations that may switch a race radically from what looking at their tech tree 'in general' would imply. Or maybe im just imagining those and its very straight forward and im just trying to make it seem more interesting than it is ^_^ But yeah, a full rundown and review of each

Hmm, i cant seem to locate the edit button =x excuse the typos ^_^ Sometimes my fingers think im wanting to type a different word that what i meant. Speaking of burn in. I kind of think its neat. I often set my wallpaper to something with the specific intention of burning the image into my screen as i leave the computer on over night. But then i guess im strange.

I remember 10 years or so ago, i was just starting to play computer games. I did not know better so i just kind of browsed the game isle at local stores to see what they had. A box caught my eye, it was big and black and had a little emblem on it in silver. Said starsiege on the box. I picked it up and it was HEAVY! I shook it some and it sounded like there was a lot of stuff in there. I reasoned it must be worth the money because of all the weight! So i bot it with out really

introducing issues would be nice. maybe at the end of each vote, a second vote is held for what the next issue will be, 4 random issues come up and the winner is what gets voted on next session. i always kind of wonder "who is deciding what we are voting on?"

Well, i just tried out the altarian righteous might moduel. Unfortunately it works like how the module description says, and not the tech description ;_; Its not a mini-super warrior. Oh well.

The real question is just how their first strike module works. It has a value of 25. What is that, 25%? of the time it works? From what i see, between their +weapons techs, and those modules, and the fact that they have engines, they can make a lot of fast heavily armed ships and abuse first strike and their superior speed to almost everyone, making them awesome. But then im not sure if that first strik
I need a game with GC's turn based empire building and SoaSE's miltary and gravity well/phase line setup.
That sounds like sword of the stars to me, its a neat game, but it doesn't have as much depth to it, but then i could just be an idiot.. its 3d map of space confused me @_@

i turn off tech trading because of this. Part of the neat thing is the unique tech trees, tech trading just ruins that. An option to turn off unique tech trading should be provided. Unique techs are already flagged in the tech tree (little racial symbol in the corner if its unique, even if its one of the shared unique techs). It shouldnt be that hard to just set it so only generic techs are tradeable. I thought the idea of racial tech trees was to make them play differently from one ano

Altarians militarily weak? Now, i am just a poor little newbie, and these new tech trees confuse me horribly, i just barely managed to get a grasp on the old generic one... But looking at the things they can research after aligning with good, it seems like their starting penalty is not only overcompensated to the point that it puts them ahead of most other races, but they also get first strike, as a tech, a luck bonus, and some really nice modules. In fact providing they align

They could just add a 'final' tech to these things that that never complete but just continue being researched. Then you could have a formula which takes those research points currently in those final techs, works out a number, and just adds that to the last weapons damage number. You could have this for the weapon, defense, and hit point lines, since (as far as i know) they are standard for all races, you could have them also work on starbases (to keep things simple)

my infiltrator could evade tank in daoc as long as i was buffed 0_0 haha things couldn't hit me and then they died. And because the way that full plate works, dex tanking is better than anything those silly fighters can do in d&d.. or at least it used to be.. ive never played this new edition yet. Oh, and in nexustk rogue armor has higher ac than warrior armor=p Plenty of precedent for rogues being harder to kill than fighters. Though generally speaking t
