This is looking really, really good. I'm glad Stardock didn't give up on the Elemental franchise but instead went with a reboot. It looks like future flame wars will go, "Stardock is a lousy developer! Elemental: War of Magic sucked!" "Who cares? They totally redeemed themselves with Elemental: Fallen Enchantress , one of the best 4X strategy games ever made!"

If they can add a functional multiplayer then I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. I'll never touch it myself, but it'll nice for those who enjoy that sort of thing.

If you guys can deliver something like that then Fallen Enchantress will rock.
...in fact, we may sunset War of Magic entirely – i.e. no longer sell it new after FE is released...
Well, that answers some lingering questions I've had about War of Magic's future and its relation to Fallen Enchantress. It seems more and more that WOM was just a "dry run" for the real game.
Because livening up a forum is an excellent reason to rush a game through development.

Wait for Fallen Enchantress. It will have pretty much everything you're asking for. War of Magic at this point is about as good as it's going to get.

My concern remains that what if Gamestop suddenly changes the DRM policy, or suppose the service tanks under Gamtsopt's oversight, what is Stardock prepared to do for their customers who have bought games through Impulse?
Q: Does the Gamestop acqusition of Impulse affect the free expansions to the Elemental universe customers of War of Magic were promised? A: Not in the slightest. It's finished in the sense that it's stable, all of the features work as intended, and you can play a complete game from beginning to end. Whether or not you'll find it an enjoyable experience is subjective.

All that number means is that the majority of people who stumbled across and bothered to vote in the poll want multiplayer. Also, 61 people is a statistically meaningless sample size.

I think we should just consider War of Magic to be an abandoned project and that Fallen Enchantress is the "real" Elemental strategy game we've been waiting for.
I don't care for multiplayer.
I hate DLC because I have yet to see any DLC release that has as much content and value as a good ol' fashioned expansion pack. What especially grinds my gears is when the DLC is actually included on the disc but locked until you cough up another few bucks. I'm not convinced that the answer is to lower the entry price followed by nickel and diming the customer until they have everything they would have gotten with a regular game release. That makes it too much like the MMO b
