If we go with a more traditinal turn-based, there needs to be something for players to do when it's not their turn. I would propose to allow access to the unit creator and city summaries at the very least, perhaps even 'planning' bulding construction and unit training to begin next turn. I would love to see some kind of magic that could be used on other players' turns, as well. Perhaps some kind of time-altering spell that allows some of your units to move or spells to be cast out of the norm
A dynastic win would be awesome! Unfortunately, setting oneself up to inherit the whole world doesn't help much if sovereigns don't start dying. Since there's no assassination and all and the sovereigns sound pretty hard to kill, I'm starting to wonder what the dynasty system is for, be
@Hackbar: victory condition means that if you achieve it, you win. It cannot be a Quest Victory if you get the artifact (supposed end of the Quest Victory) and end having to win the game by a militar victory (that i's not even assured with the artifact because if not the other players would go 'GG').
I understand this, yes. I'm not opposed to a quest victory condition in principle. I rather like the idea. I ju

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that this bit of storyline is somehow related to the concept of 'victory by questing.' If so, I have a simple-sounding request that may end up being very difficult to implement in a satisfying manner. I don't want the 'I win' quest to take the player to the victory screen. If it fits with the storyline and concept of this silver orb, I'd like to see the player sovereign who succeeds in the quest to retrieve the silver orb take

There seem to be awfully few spells in game right now, limited pretty much to the terrain-altering spells and summon fire giant. I got the impression from the 1G preview and the latest patch notes that I should be seeing more than just 4 or 5 spells, especially with a sovereign that has all 6 books of magic. Are there really only these few spells implemented, or is there a bug preventing me from seeing, for example, volcano to the face?

In my current save I am unable to capture enemy cities, even though I can fight and defeat the defenders. AI players, however, have been taking my towns left and right with no problem. I have also had a recurrence of the 'rivers going out to sea' bug in the same game. I will try and upload screenshots if requested. Dxdiag: http://pastebin.com/Dkz1Pi78 debug.err: http

I'm beginning to thing sovereign stats are broken right now. I made a sovereign with maxed-out strength, dexterity, and constitution, and he died fighting a single black widow. I've seen the pre-made sovereigns (with lower strength, dex, and con) take on more than one black widow and win.

So, let me get this straight: each of the 10 nations will have their own tech tree, but only 1 such tree is currently finished so they're all using the same one? But eventually as you finish them the others will have their own? What about custom nations? Do you choose one of the 10 trees to mimic, or will the be a generic 'custom nation only' tech tree, or some other system? Or did I just open up a huge can of worms you hadn't gotten to yet? More importantly, will the game still

I like most of what you've suggested, but I have a few issues. Either heroes will have to be pretty common, or they will have to be entirely non-essential to city function and able to act as 'governor' while off fighting wars or adventuring for extended periods. That said, I like the idea of a trade-off between bonuses granted by having them sitting in the governor's office (I'm assuming city resource bonuses in addition to the certainty that the hero will be present to defend the city if att

I'm not sure about putting a cash value on increased fun, but I'm pretty sure the 'pitchforks and fire' can be quantified in terms of the replacement costs of damaged hardware and real estate, training costs for new hires to replace the deceased and injured, medical bills and lawsuit settlements for seriously injured employess, and advertising costs to reverse the bad PR of being attacked by an angry mob, but I think that may be taking things a little too seriously, right? In the finest traditions of anime, that is the textbook representation of the spell she is about to cast, projected on the static background behind her for dramatic effect. This is an indication of how immenseily powerful and awesome (c) the spell in question is, as well as an indicator of its dramatic importance. Clearly, the procipinee is about to show its spines.

Wow. Next beta is going to be huge. I'm a little concerned, honestly. So many changes at once seems like it will make the whole beta testing job harder. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to be getting my hands on more features soon, especially the custom race option. I just was under the impression that it was good beta testing practice to tackle things one at a time so that you can more easily identify which changes broke things and whatnot. I keep thinking we should be getting new builds ever

You are a horrible, horrible tease, mr Frog. You know we don't even have the cloth map beta yet, and you're already doing a 'making of' piece? ;p It's amazing to see how much the game has changed from one month to the next. I'm very impressed with the work, though there are elements of the Oct and Nov 2008 screens that I wish had made it into the current build. The Nov one is horrible zoomed in but looks very painting-like zoomed out, and the Oct one looks almost too simple and abstra
