RE: 4) You are missing some information about population or you did not explain it in full. City levels add a set amount of resources at each level. I forget the exact amounts, but each specialization gives you more in that field. The basic balance is that each city level is twice as good as the one before it. Food is Max Population. You need 80, 200, 400, 800 or so population to get to the next level. So population is really the most important thing in the long term. Growth affects h
Nope, I put a debug.err in this forums and I've seen this particular error in at least four threads, with at least two having replies from Derek and Frog themselves. If they can't get it fixed, I don't believe support will.
I would suggest sending them an e-mail. In my experience, getting a ticket from support is more effective for video and configuration problems. It can't hurt to
There is only so much that can be done with the current event mechanics. It only works with certain modifiers, so you couldn't spawn something or start a quest for all players. It has to be something like +1 Gildar, everyone at war, -1 Movement. I think they have to debugify the mechanic before we see some more flavor in this department.
If he is taking the time to write all that, it must have been alot of playtime. Great list! [e digicons][/e]
I am thinking today about the bugs that have been reported, but not fixed yet. I see alot of posts talking about bugs that have not been fixed since WoM, Beta 2, Beta 3, etc... A dev once posted on an old thread of mine about separating each bug to make them easier to track. I was thinking that if everyone has been doing lists, it could account for some of the problem. I can't find the actual thread though, it was a long time ago. I have been doing separate bugs ever since. I guess lists
Growth would be fertility. Grain is fine in my book. Maybe it should be renamed to food though. And food could be Max Pop.
Darn. Have yous sent an e-mail to ? Your problem could be present on thousands of computers. I would hate for another WoM launch.
Love everything, except... Animations in combat are dreadfully slow, and it appears that you cant mouse to the edge of the screen to move it any more? Anyone else experiencing this? I love playing out every combat, but it's so slow that I've started to auto resolve a lot. I'm sure I could turn animations off, but with my graphics card I shouldn't need to.&nbs
Not the case. The previous 5 tree system was tossed because there just wasn't enough to fill all 5 trees and still have good opportunity cost. I also remember the WoM tech order. 3 Warfare, 1 Civics, 2 more Warfare, end game. The current trees have a ton of interesting choices, derived from brutal opportunity cost. There is no best tech order. It all depends on your faction, starting city, city specialization, nearby resources, nearby monsters and nearby factions. The 3 trees are well int
Fortunately many quests have a come back later option now. I think they are in the process of adding it to all of them. The issue was that the quest designer was choosing fail as the second option in the choice tree. It is pretty easy to just have it exit the dialog for choice 2. That way you can come back later. I think the quest maker just started realizing this. On the other hand, it would add to immersion if there were some quests that demanded immediate action. So you eithe
Depends on which faction you choose. Gilden is better off sometimes with Battle Hammers to start. Some warlike factions are better off with spears first. It just depends on your starting location. If you are lucky and get a 3/4/1, go for spears and start leveling some armies. The gildar from killing is usually enough to support your economy for awhile. Magnar, for instance are better off getting spears and leather as the other guy said. You will level fast enough with those slaves to get way
Where the hell are my damn props for knowing the old trees? And Xia, play the game or watch my let's play videos. No room for wallflowers. Especially when your reviews are so interesting.
I may know of a way to fix this. Have you tried deleting your cache in the hidden data folder? I was not getting the new UI in Beta 3 and I had to delete some old files in there that were mucking things up. I believe the files are located in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental-FallenEnchantress\Screens. delete all of that and run the FE.exe again. It will download the new data from the server and maybe fix your game. These files are supposed to get deleted upon uninstall, but are apparently mis
Ya, I ignored the tone because I remember Legaceez from the good old days and searched his posts to see many of the same posts repeated for each beta cycle. It can get annoying. Just look at my post about the roads bug which crashes the game on saves. We haven't gotten a direct response from support teams or Derek about many of these issues. We can't be sure they are recognized or how Derek is managing bug lists. Could be there are people working on the deeper bugs from WoM and bad co

I would like to see a variable font size for this. Larger names need smaller fonts.
Civilization, Warfare, Magic, Heroes, Diplomacy.
And outposts should take one season to turn over to another side. One turn of no one benefiting seems like a good strategic design. That way I can't benefit from taking over an outpost next to the AI. On the same coin, the AI can't benefit from an outpost that I just took over, which is currently the case.
I see now. Good point about tactical battles then. As to quests, there is a simple switch to make each quest allow you to return when you are ready. They seem to have shifted most quests to this side, but it looks like they are still working on it.
I am seeing alot of these massive bug lists pop up on the forums. The correct order is to post in FE Support and only one bug per post. It doesn't take that much longer and will make sure each one is addressed. It is important to separate a critique from a bug so that nothing gets missed by the devs.
Some valid points here in the cons list. The only major issue I can confirm is save integrity. I have a 90% save integrity rate, but that is far from acceptable. I disagree about multi-turn casting. That is a great tactical consideration. I also feel the balance is not finished, but is better than before. Hp is finally right. The only problem is weapon damage and unique weapons with massive damage. Not a major focus in Beta 4 though. This one seems to be focused on buildings and
The edge scroll is really really odd and broken. It should scroll the screen as much as you move the pointer outside the screen. It seems to instead scroll by a fixed speed, and only after a very long delay. Remove the delay completely and get good out-of-screen coordinates for the mouse to do real scroll. Also it often does not work at all in combat. Once you only move the screen as much as the user moves the mouse outside the screen, then the de
I have been working on some new videos of the new beta. This time around the focus in the early game is centered on character development instead of grand strategy. I love it, but some may not understand how to manage the early game now that it is different. The change is subtle, but now exploration is the key to success. You have to go out into the wastes and find resources, take on quests. Kill what you can and run from anything you can't is a good rule of thumb. The video starts a few
The tile you settle on has a series of numbers. Grain/Materials/Essence. If you settle on a tile with 4/2/1, you have 4 Grain, 2 Materials, 1 Essence. That number is derived from the resources from the surrounding 9 tiles and added up to be 4/2/1 in this case. If you see a tile next to it with 3/2/1, that means the 9 tiles around that tile add up to be 3/2/1. This makes settling much easier to figure out since you won't need to do a
Also want to point out that the new balance makes clubs very good in the early game. If you want an early army, some clubmen are now a great choice. Getting spears or shields will greatly increase the cost of production. Choosing warfare from the start is only a good idea for certain factions. If you think that is the best choice, try starting on a 3/4/1 and going for Civics and Knowledge first. The +1 Research is a godsend. The +1 Prestige from Civics is an immediate bonus, which will double
