I tend to be on the side of the dragons on issues like this. I love the thought of some juicy new players fattening up my wonderful dragons. Balance be damned.

I figured out why. My quests still had "triggerorigin" which is not needed and blocks the goodiehut. Not sure what that does, but it doesn't need to be there for this. I still have not gotten the core events to spawn. Are we sure 10000 is a 100% guarantee?

I did try it with my quest and it didn't work. I can't get the core quests to trigger at all for some reason. [Edit] Do the Random Events from CoreRandomEvents.xml even work? Turning up the trigger chance to 10000 and setting the turn timer to 5 seems to have no effect for me.

I see alot of quests using the turn and pop triggers, but they don't seem to be spawning goodiehuts. This was bugged before, but I assumed it was fixed when the devs started adding quests that try to do it. Can anyone confirm that this is now possible or is it bugged still?

Some things I often do: Have two identical quests, except each choice has different outcomes. Need editing to make this easier to do. Glad you are working on adding that. Instead of failing after a battle is lost, you simply don't get the reward and the next objective is changed to reflect your pitiful failure. Give items in random loot that unlock special choices during certain quests. For instance, if you have the Orpheus Scroll, the Labyrinth has shortcuts that

But this is more a problem of poor city defense than overpowered slaves.

In terms of difficulty, the editor might have some learning curve, but it is miles better than trying to do it in xml. I am pretty expert at it and it still takes me hours to do quests and get them right. Being able to use this to do the basic stuff saves us so much time and I think most people making quests are going to be smart enough to learn the system. I am currently using it to make the bare bones of my quests and then doing the final tweaking in the xml. It's a great

I am quitting the whole balance thing and going after quest maker testing. So you mean you want me to tell you what you did wrong in the editor? Probably either a bug with the encounter addition or you set a weird objective number.

City Defense Preventing the Rush I have been testing out some of the core strategic elements and one particular aspect still receives a low mark. City defense is just not up to where it should be. It

I agree that both of these issues are problematic. The extreme randomness hurts the game the most. Especially since nearly every aspect of balance has a slider before the game starts. Then the maps largely decides difficulty. Overall your starting point and the AI's ability to cope with theirs determines difficulty more than the difficulty settings. That may just be a constant drawback in the design scheme to allow massive replayability, but it also makes the strategic aspects f

No, I am pretty sure that is a criticism of the world banks. Leave it in and create some controversy! [e digicons]}:)[/e]

Well, for one thing, many people have such lowered expectations from the last disaster, there will be a minor bonus to most scores based on how far the game has come. On the other hand, there are alot of trolls in this niche market that are just hoping for bugs and design flaws to jump all over. Even at 80%, it will have good enough sales to get me my updates and expansion. That is my main focus and thus will not push the issue as long as it gets solved at some point near 1.1. That's just

Physical plane of existence. The world is split into several planes in the lore. You can have the jungle or the dying fire or the sea plane, but you can't transport through planes like you could in the book. So each game the player plays must be focused on only one of the planes. But you can mod the game to very realistically mimic any given plane. The air plane could even be mimicked by replacing the water textures. That would be cool. Wheel of Time looks at time as a circle. In

I would be willing to work on the first and second iteration of the WoT mod. After that I will probably start making my contributions significantly shorter and less meaningful. I would totally phone in the last couple of iterations until half the players pretty much stop playing. I want it to be as much like the books as possible. All kidding aside, you could make a pretty cool WoT mod, but each game would have to take place in only one plane. Oddly enough, the books are descrip

Oh sure. I group my Sions up with my Catapults and then throw in some Ogres to level things out. [e digicons]:-"[/e] No, never use them. By that time a low level pseudo-hero is not as good as a fully trained unit.

Well, Kievan Russia and Appanage Russia were slightly better organized, but one was killed by constant infighting and the other was made completely out of really dry wood. Overall, it's hard to get serfs to fight without reasonable upward mobility and a strong wage. Of course, fighting unending hordes of cheating kiters doesn't help either. [e digicons];)[/e]
