I bought the first one for 10 dollars. I think I will wait a year or two before I get this one. That way it will be fixed, hopefully, and be as cheap as the first one was for me. It's really too bad that we are seeing so many failed launches these days. I kind of think they should start regulating PC hardware and other things to make it easier for smaller companies to produce games. Just a thought.

I wonder if this will be set up in the xml as something like angrypeasants01 as a new part of the city hub improvement? That would make it easy to upgrade it to any unit, including dragons. [e digicons]:D[/e] I really didn't think this would be in the game due to its general awesomeness and Stardock's promise that the game will be carcinogenic. I mean we could even see races getting special militia as a t
Woot! Militia is great news. This will greatly improve the game. @DsRaider, What are you talking about? Militias are just a representation of the able bodied men and women of a city taking up arms to defend it. I would imagine they are the pitchfork and torches variety. It is illogical to upgrade them. They are there to prevent early game steamrolls as each city will have a natural defense. This is much better than allowing one unit to to be able to capture and then ra
I am planning on making capital cities invincible until the endgame as a possible strategy. Will the AI be able to be adjusted to a defensive strategy? Some AIs should steamroll or die trying. Others will likely go for defense and try to fortify a rich piece of territory. I just want to make sure that the number of personalities is not hardcoded like it was in GalCiv2. I would like to be able to make new ones.
Hey Steve, you are very polite. Too polite in fact. Just increase mana output to make spellcasting more viable. You are aloud to mod the game too ya know? [e digicons][/e]
Hehe. This thread is actually talking about the old game, War of Magic. Fallen Enchantress will work slightly differently. I think you must be using the search feature to find these posts. You should take a look in the Fallen Enchantress category in the developer journals section. Those are about the new game. Note that this thread is nearly two years old.
I wrote a hole wall ripping brainsucker a new one, but then I realized that he is probably very young or very foreign to misunderstand how difficulty will work. You can just play on novice my friend. [e digicons];)[/e]
Hmmm... his necromantic powers are fearsome. This thread has been dead for a year!
I never really thought about how useful those graphs might be to a developer. For me it is just a vanity graph.
You guys don't have the beta yet? I got it last week from Derek. It was easy, I just bet him a million dollars that I wouldn't get cancer. I don't know how he thinks he is going to collect....
You need charisma when you look like that. I hate spiders. [e digicons]:S[/e]
It is fallen lands. Probably home to the big bad.

Won't buy a minicomputer that only plays games, but doesn't it have an option to hook in a keyboard and mouse?
Are you guys doing any more contests? A tile building competition would be pretty sweet.
New dev post about portraits.
Freakin Sweet!
Not true. I still play Balder's Gate II. Not because there is not a better RPG out there, but because it is still a good game. Good games are eternal.
And we will finally be able to have healer as a mage specialization.
Excellent analysis. I wholeheartedly agree. The plate issue is quite bothersome, I think I had blocked it out. Fortunately I got pretty good at using the GalCiv2 system to make a pretty decent weapon realism mod. I will likely do the same for this game. Plate should be a superior armor. It should restrict movement, provide excellent defense against most weapons, lower initiative, and have a strength requirement. The techs that improve it should mostly affect mobility and spellcasting. </
I don't see any way they could add this without a crapload of new code. I find it realistic that creatures mostly attack your city while defending the land they own, that you have tried to take. So they kill all your people and generally turn your fledgling city into ruins. The solution I have wanted for awhile now is for the peasants of the town to be able to lightly defend it based on the population. This would be much easier to implement.
I have been playing since the beta opened. I would suggest making a map where your only enemy is on another island and set the tech pace to fast. Get Harvesting, Questing, Equipment, and Leather Armor. Build spearmen to protect your city and then scout for resources with your King. It does play a little differently than other games. Any specific questions?
I have seen no evidence from any of the devs that character portraits are even under consideration for change. I don't really understand why this issue is popping up a month before beta as all other things they are changing were discussed in detail a year ago. My feeling is that there is nothing wrong with the current portraits, so let's focus our energy on making sure the things that are being changed get some useful feedback. If you are of the opinion th
Doesn't plate lower initiative? That would make spellcasting a bad choice for platers.
I don't think it was the point of your post but technological differentiation is a huge part of the medieval world. I think living in the 21st century has blinded you to exactly how different weapons were in times of yore. Wars were fought and won over the unique resources and weapon techniques of ancient kingdoms. From the Greek Hoplite to the English Longbow, slight differences and advantages were present not in each and every nation, but also in the minute factions of those nations.&nb
