Well said. Say, are still in the NAVY? I am joining up this spring. I also happen to live in Washington. [e digicons]:)[/e]

Maybe we just need a specialization to deal with kiting... Path of the Assassin: A roguish hero that specializes in befouling enemy tactics. The Assassin relies on flawless accuracy to execute his mischievous bag of tricks. He is expert at ranged combat, relying on critical strikes to seriously wound his foes. When he cannot outright kill an enemy, he prefers to counter their tactics against other units. Even the most rapacious mounted archers can be thw
I posted first and then edited it to give my thoughts. They seem to have been obscured by the speed of the topic. Go ahead and take a look at the first post to see my ideas. Basically I think there should be several counters to fast units.
The best kite defense is ranged weapons. The best way to have an AI react to kiting is to have it regroup after 2-3 rounds of not reaching its target. The best magic to counter kiting is to cast haste on the kited unit. allowing it to reach the target, or stop the target with Slow, Freeze, Stinking Mud, etc. The best traits to counter kiting would be a sprint ability, attacks that stun or prevent movement (ranged and melee), bonuses to movement for rogue and cavalry heroes. The best weapons t
I wonder how much of the bugs are fixed in .80.
Interesting. I recently wrote a paper on how the fall of the Soviet Union has actually led post-soviet states to become more capitalistic than America. We, on the other hand, have become increasingly socialist, as has much of the western world. My conclusion was that Marx's theory of capitalistic expansion will soon turn post-soviet states into the next exploitable resources. Given the extreme pressure on capitalism in the past decade and those to come, the first enterprises that recogniz
There are several factors to this game's success. Don't forget about money. This is capitalism, money makes a huge difference. I think one of Derek's hardest jobs is deciding which areas to spend money (time) on. There are lots of areas of the game that could be expanded. I'd hate to be the one to have to deal with the budget of implementation. Fortunately I can watch from afar in my ivory Tower without having to make any hard decisions.
I want to make a point about level requirements changing. If it is decided that this has to go there are only a few options. The game currently doesn't allow for a system where a stat check can determine if an item can be equipped. The quickest change would be to balance items so that weapons that are powerful are only awarded from very difficult tasks. The harder, but more desirable option would be to allow for unit stat checks. An even better implementation would be to al
Sov could have special traits. But as far as connecting to the lore, he dies, so does the kingdom. That is pretty different from a champion.
[quote who="mastroego" reply="72" id="3084792"]But please, don't tell us that the initial WoM's design was "basically MoM". Not one of things that made MoM MoM was to be found in WoM (no pun intended). If there ever was, it was erased before release. We can't pretend now that WoM's only problem was that "too many things were added". If that were true, removing features (which has been done extensively since release) would have given us something at least reminiscent of MoM.[/q
Tasunke is probably right. Accuracy is a secondary factor for an archer. The only way an archer will be able to keep up with Strength is by getting crits.
If you are attacked in a desert tile, you get a bonus. It also works for city tiles.
Beta 2 will release the workshop too right? [e digicons];)[/e]
Yes. I want to do extra damage against them and have maybe one vanilla race that gains some sort of bonus from each injury. For example Pariden heroes might have a trait called Wisdom From Defeat: +1 Intelligence for every injury. They learn from their mistakes. Tarthan heroes might get Oath of Vengeance: +1 Attack for every injury.
I am sure we will get a list of important new features.
UnitStat_IsInjured would be useful.
I just wanted the community to see how I plan to use this feature. UnitStat_IsBeast would probably be a good one for the library.
Now I feel silly for thinking there might not be terrain bonuses. I will try to think something more unreasonable to complain about next time. [e digicons]:)[/e]
Here is how I would use it in Ivory Towers: UnitStat_BG_IsBeast - 1 for all trained or summoned units that are beasts, Lions and Tigers and Bears. UnitStat_BG_IsBeastmaster - 1 for all Champions that have the Path of the Beastmaster trait. Any army with a Beastmaster will give bonuses to all beasts in combat. One trait for the Beastmaster would be to get +1 to UnitStat_BG_IsBeastmaster, receiving bonuses for becoming one with the animals. A Beastmas
That would be nice. I have a list of things I want to persuade the devs to add. That is going in the expansion game section. [e digicons]*_*[/e]
I agree. I watched the forums for a long time and the game seemed to keep shifting to accommodate user ideas. The only point that there was not alot of communication was the week or two before it went gold. No need to drudge up that fiasco, but it didn't really matter how good the gameplay was in 1.0 given all the technical problems. This beta is alot healthier. There was a moment there last month where the testers started throwing out extreme ideas with the delusi
I see. So you are saying that WoM is simply not worth 50$ and CivV is based on quality. That is a reasonable conclusion. Most indie games do have a lower price than triple A games because they are less able to produce the same level of quality. Stardock has always charged equal price levels for their games. The quality on release may not be the same, but they can offer a guarantee of service after purchase. That may not attract every user, but you can always wait until the price for the game
Why would the house sell for 1 billion? That has nothing to do with anything. The buyer in this case is only paying 50 dollars. It is a community house. The point is that you have the option to live in either house or both, but don't expect the 2.5 million dollar house to be as nice as the 500 million dollar house.
I still like it, but the parts that annoy me are anything that reminds me I am playing an MMO. As your level increases, it becomes more apparent. [e digicons]:S[/e]
That is not logical. It is the same as being in a group of 10 million people all chipping in 50 dollars to fund the construction of a house and only 50 thousand people chipping in 50 dollars to buy a house. Would anyone expect the 2.5 million dollar house to be as good as the 500 million dollar house? I think not. They should both be expected to be quality buildings in their price range, but they are not even close to the same scale.
