It's not a matter of wanting the game on Steam or not. I want the game to work. It's a shame that Steam seems to be the only way this will happen, and that is impossible without dropping another forty bucks.
What other companies are giving a free game to 100,000 people that purchased it from a totally different source?
Taleworlds? Cyanide? Creative Assembly? Bethesda? Rockstar? Stardock is pretty much the only company to do this. The biggest shame of this is that Stardock is the only company that really needs to, considering they can't figure out how to release updates and patches properly, or ev
So, I haven't played the Beta in awhile. I tried to update it today, so I downloaded the latest patch only to be told I had to download a previous patch. After doing that, the updater told me that it couldn't find FE, even though it was installed in the default location. Really wish I could transfer my FE key to Steam, I'd really prefer dealing with their autoupdater to something that doesn't even work.
In the balance category, it's a little strange that there is no running/hiding from archers, and thus no strategy involved in the tactical battles involving archers. The infinite range and shooting over hills without a penalty makes battles frustrating and unfun. I then made a game where I just massed archers and plinked enemy units apart with slow/haste and pretty much wrecked everything. Satisfying I guess, but still not really fun. Maybe it
it would make a lot of sense to change "haven't met each other yet" or whatever it is to "unmet" in the diplomacy screen. the former is kind of a long awkward read compared to the other information on that screen
These are exciting changes. With all of the new disincentives to city-spam, will Merchants still cost food? This was a puzzling feature.
Troubled, I don't see why trading 1 food for 1 gildar would be a problem considering that you start next to a resource that gives you 4 food. I, at least, have never had a problem with generating any resources besides elementium (can you even generate that?) and crystal empire-side (nothing I research seems to reveal any crystal for me, even though I get that temple to increase crystal production). That said, early game is a bit of a balancing ac
So... has anyone figured out why it costs food to get money buildings? It's not like food is abundant or anything, this makes merchants an absolute no-build ever. 1 food for 1 gildar per turn is a horrible deal, I'm not sure who thought this would be a productive change. This is just bizarre.
Hmm, well i have never been disappointed with a Stardock game before, so i guess i should just buy it and play it?
This logic made sense to me too. Unfortunately it is the wrong way to go about this choice.
Wait it out, I bought it and I probably won't be playing for another three months or so.
Especially when you can simply build a bridge ...
Oh. I usually play single landmass games. I haven't seen much of a point to water in Elemental. No resources to fight over, no real naval power to speak of, just an annoying barrier from points A to B. I've skipped it, I guess. I'll try an island game when I pick Elemental back up. Your sarcasm is hilarious and entertaining, though. Keep up the good work!
What is your reason to build a harbor? I still haven't found one.
Not exactly a review on what the game isn't, more of a review on what the game promises and does not deliver. SCII promised an engaging campaign and a fun multiplayer that can be competitive and casual with tons of potential for user-created maps. That's pretty much what customers got. Elemental's standard game promised a fun randomly generated world that suffered a cataclysm, ready to be rebuilt and fought over by new channelers. While the game tries to hit that promis

The long answer is that due to a series of scheduling conflicts with me, the reviewer, as well as issues with the game, enough time hasn't been spent with the game to properly evaluate it…yet. At this point I'm really enjoying the game – except, that is, when it doesn't work or
This has gotta get fixed. Easy fix we talked about in the game chat at launch, guess it got missed under all of the other problems.
I got it for $40. I've put Elemental up for now. Playing Tropico 3's expansion from the current sale while I wait for my Civ5 pre-order. I've already been burned by Impulse's copy of Oblivion not being compatible with some mods, so I am hesitant to buy from thi
Your comparison is poor. You don't have to experience something per-say to have a solid basis for making an opinion.
Very true, but also making sure you know the difference between a firing and a layoff helps. :/
-It would be really helpful to have a RAZE CITY button that has been greyed out until the appropriate tech is researched and says "You Must Research So and So" I haven't tried to raze a city in a couple patches though so I could be completely wrong and this might already be in. If so, great job. -Also get rid of spending valuable character points to get sovereign starting equipment. This has already been brought up a bunch of times. -It is current

Gamespot may have gotten heat for giving some crap games high scores, but if one actually reads the review there is no hint of vendetta against Stardock. Just disappointment and frustration. Four sounds about right, maybe five when multiplayer is out. But at lea
Hahah my friends still make fun of me for picking this up for $50. Live and learn, I guess.
I do wish all the edge tiles were water, it is really odd having land that "oh we just don't want to go across!"
He just had to rush his review out the door, I'm sure it will be satisfactory in about six months.
What? They added the ability to change what factions set up in the game? I try to play two empires and two kingdoms on a small map and the game decides it's time to put another couple major factions in.
I do okay until my second improved shard pops up. After that, Elemental decides to chug.
That is great news about Fallout 3, it is a shame about Oblivion though. I assume this situation is permanent?
