It is amazing how much more polished the game feels with LH. I'll admit that going in I wasn't expecting the new features to make a big difference. Fallen Enchantress is already a fun game so I figured it would be like just about every other add-on. Even after watching the pre-beta video, the expansion looked cool but didn't seem all that different. When you play it however, it is so much more improved. More polished, better immersion, more interesting quests, better combat. All a

I've found performance when loading turns is a big issue in this build. I think I saw some one mention here there is a known memory leak. Mid-game though on a medium map with 4 opponents, moving between turns is painfully slow once you start to reveal more of the map and encounter other AI players.
Wow. Beta 4 graphics rock! :P

Just to add to that, it would be great in game if there were some notification that the quest had failed or which were active.
This is my first time playing beta since beta 2. I am not sure if this is the masterquest or not but I visited 3 dragon shrines. The first two I visited, I acquired a dragon's eye. When I visited the third, and placed the eyes into the dragon statue, I was told I am not the lord of dragons. I choose to fight and died a quick death by a dragon stack. Before I attempted to fight the pack again, I used the tornado spell to separate out the dragons and fight them one by one. After I killed th
I have Norton's too and this is the most annoying feature. It's happened to me on more than one occasion with other game downloads. What is most frustrating is that it just deletes it without confirmation or warning and you can't change it. It is either on or off. Not fun when you download a 8GB file you trust only to have it erased immediately. I don't find this functionality of "Norton Intelligence" intelligent at all.
I like how the tech tree has been streamlined however it seems like it doesn't pay to concentrate solely on one tree . In the games i've played so far, there have been times when, for example, I could research heavy armor in 162 turns or in 85 turns I could get more than a few useful lower tier magic and civ techs. Maybe achieving that late game tech before other factions would still allow you to compete if you didn't grab the lower level techs, but
I don't know if those with slow downs and crashes experience them at the beginning of a new game but for me, it has happened after playing several turns into the game. I've noticed what seems to cause it (in my case anyway) is moving through turns very quickly. Even though there is sometimes a lot to do within a turn, I tend to do what I need to in a very short time span. Since increasing the time between end turn clicks, the game has run a lot smoother and I haven't crashed
ambient light: 5 (changing doesn't have much of an impact on my setup) Brightness: 50 Contrast : 50 Even small increments with brightness and contrast seem to have a substantial impact but the 50 / 50 setting is spot on. My monitor is a 46 inch LED TV :P
This has been a small annoyance since WOM. I guess since I play RTS games a lot, I am used to just moving the mouse to the edge of the screen. It is proving really hard to break that habit. I think this same sequence has happened about 100 times to me - 1. Do something on the visible map 2. Move the mouse to the edge 3. Think "damn it, it doesn't work that way in this game, was it right or left click...". 4. Right click by accident movi
Same here. It's hard to describe but I guess very well polished is as good a term as any. The world definately seems more alive and i've been having fun so far with the one game I started.
I downloaded the beta to a drive other than C:\ however it appears the temp files when unpacking default to C:\ anyway. Not having more than 3 gigs free at the moment on that drive, no error is thrown when it fails while unpacking. It worked after I freed up ~5 gigs. Just posting this in case others run across the same thing.
Interest fades after a while. I am sure many were checking regularly and posting waiting for word of beta. Now we know it's not coming out this month, they are probably not visiting as much. Also there were lots of big titles released last month so I image that also has something to do with it.
In the words of Gary Gnu " No gnews is good gnews".
The ramp up makes sense given impulse is gone as does Elemental FE beta beating Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion beta to the punch.
Use the one building per faction as a template to grant the spell after being the first to build a new building? Then use the long cool down time.
I see some mods say to put files in the corresponding folder under my games (for example items, units, etc..). Other mods say just drop it in the mods folder. My question what should be the directory structure inside the mod folder? Is it like SOSE where you need a folder with a mod name and the same folders within (ie units, items, etc..) ? I've tried just dropping them in a mods folder (and enabled use mods) but it hasn't worked for me. Putting them in the corresponding folders one director
Makes sense. I had one ship on auto explore. That was also the first game in which this happened to me.
I am getting the same thing. It is only happening after loading up a saved game. Also If I have auto turn enabled, the turns progress fine. Once I hit the end turn button thoug, I am stuck. One odd thing I noticed, the first time this happened with 1.06, my time left for an adventure tech was displaying as -1.
I've lost all sound a few times during tactical battles. Sound effects seem to always return once the battle ends. Music doesn't always return. During the first instance, I clicked the turn button a few times quickly without moving any troops. It seemed to occur frequently during tactical battles after that point while in the same session. This is a problem in both campaign and skirmish mode.
It's easy to say alt-tabbing ending in a crash is unacceptable however we are not seeing the whole picture. There are deadlines, work is done by priority, and shit happens. They could have spent time working on that bug but at the cost of something else. That something else could have been a pretty important feature or more serious defect. If they had to weight fixing a memory crash verse alt-tab crash given the time left, its obvious which one they would work on. I'm sure if they had the lux
Despite not wanting to hear peoples excitement over wanting the game immediately, it's better they are looking forward to the game then nobody caring.
