"As things are now a wizard alone builds a city (should be a small group of units) he is supposed to be a leader, but he is alone. Also he builds a city and suddenly there are people in there... still he walks around alone for 100s turns (25 years!!), heroes don't come out from his village or his troops, but instead he has to find them around. The guy is the owner of a city but inexplicably he doesn't have the money to get nice clothes or a horse until he finds money around... That&#3

Reply to Diablo III in PC Gaming

I'm sure D3 will be successful and have a ton of people playing it. I just can't get passed always on, kicked out of your single player game if you DC concept. I realize that D3 is in some (significant for me) ways a fundamentally different game than D2 was. I remember hours and hours of D2 and LOD LAN games with one of my closest friends. We'd often order pizza, crack a case of beer, and kill a weekend. We can still do that with D3 I

Ive always thought that rather than a teleportation spell they could include an expensive late game city improvement for magic gates a la MOO2's Jump Gates. It accomplishes the "only in your own territory" goal without the side effect of being the ultimate "oh shit" button. If you're main force is out of position attacking in a foreign land, you're still screwed. There are also plenty of ways to limit it to make sure that it's useful, but not

Reading back through this thread I notice that the discussion revolves around D2: LOD, Homeworld Cataclysm, DA: O, and similar stuff and complains that all DLC quality isn't in that vein. It strikes me that this seems like complaining that every game isn't as good as D2, Homeworld, and DA. You're going to play and enjoy plenty of games that aren't as good as any of those three, but apparently DLC has to be on a "classic" level in order to be worth the money

You're using random numbers without any backing to support your argument. You can certainly point at SPECIFIC DLC that was $10 and only gave 2 or 3 hours of gameplay, but I can point at $10 DLC

[quote who="Emperor_Nero" reply="30" id="2971516"]The only DLC I would buy would be a full expansion pack, back in the day I had Starcraft, then the expansion came out so I got it. Added entire campaigns, I mean that is the way it should be. It should add something to the game that wasn't there before. 1 or 2 mission DLCs are a rip-off, but when you get something like Dragon Age: Origins Awakening - that would be worth the 30 dollars you pay for it. It added like another 20+ hours to game

All the others (except maybe diplomacy, depending on implementation) are the reverse, the earlier I start using it the better off I am at endgame. My champions will have more levels, my troops will be experienced and upgraded, my economy will grow exponentially. Thus if these systems really are balanced then best path is to special

This looks great. My only question is regarding defensive strategic spells. Has there been any thought around implementing any? The ability to enchant an area to protect it for offensive spells (Curgen's Volcano, for example) or to enchant your land to make it harsher to invaders? Summoning haunted woods that make it harder for an enemy to travel through or force them to lose units/face the spirits of the woods (as an example)? If I design my
