Making a game is a lot like writing a term player
Whats a term player??? [e digicons];P[/e] On a more related note, I cant wait for the game!
Anybody planning to do historical maps based on actual countries like Greece or Japan? (I mean historical topography, ores & metals, but other goodies would be non-historical, but shards might go where historical temples & shrines were)
No, but I am considering making a Tyria map (Guild Wars landmass in case you are wondering).
Guild Wars 2, the MMO I am looking forward to the most, has announced the first playable class. It is the Elementalist, making a grand return from GW1. And I must say from the class description page, it sounds even more awesome than the GW1 version! http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/elementalist/
Man, those Capitarans sure are vulgar aren't they. [e digicons]8O[/e] But besides that... pretty cool. Wish I knew more about what makes them unique as opposed to what they call themselves. Although if we go by pictures (and the pictures do indeed preview their specialty as opposed to being simply visual) I suppose we have some indication. Looking forward to the Fallen.
Actually, from what I can gather, as long as you dont intermarry with any Fallen factions you should be okay in terms of looks.
Have you considered making the shards mana-neutral?
Mana is already neutral, you just need to control X number of Y types of shards to cast a spell. For instance, say you have 500 mana, which is enough to cast said rain of fire spell in the screenshot above.. However, if you only have 1 fire shard, in addition to the earth shard, you can not cast that spell. You would need another fire shard in order to cast
I dont think true immortality for anybody but the channelers would fit in lore-wise, but I DO encourage longer lifespans for those who are given essence by a channeler. I think that this should be inherrant rather than an active spell (although active spells could increase a lifespan further). For instance, for upgrading your hero with the ability to cast magic, he would also have an increased (average) lifespan. Similarly, if all you did was make his sword arm stronger, he should still
I'm not taking part in the Beta now (though I have access to it), but I would join B2 just to get creamed by the frog himself or, if the frog was too far away to cream me himself, at least say I was in a game WITH the frog.
I might have to get this issue just to look at the picture better!
I wonder how many of these are just in here for developer convenience and will make it into the final game. Some of these, like research all techs, sounds like an easy way for the developers to balance endgame without necessarily playing through the beggining/middle first.
2 A. I'm actually still a little confused by the Dev Journal on "Succession" as there hasn't been a Dev response in it since the initial posting. How can there be "Succession" for the player if the game ends when the player's sovereign dies? "Sov Death = Game Over" hasn't changed has it? Whether it has or hasn't I'm fine either way, I just want to know for sure before I work up a proper response in the thread.
&n
I too can't wait for this game. Especially since I HAVE pre-ordered and have access to the Beta now. I just dont want to deal with the bugs and such. I'll let the people who dont wish to have fun deal with ironing those out.
Thanks for the link! This is what I am really waiting for! I started playing GW on retail release day when the servers went live. I have 7 characters full up, all heroes fitted out, each character and mule maxed on plat in inventory, and my storage is crammed to the guild with goodies and its plat storage is also maxed out. Sort of ran out of things to do! GW 2 looks like it is going to be truly epic. By the way and
It looks ok, but I don't know. I bought the first one when it came out and only played it for like 3 or 4 days and got burnt out on it. I just couldn't get into it. I don't want that to happen with this one.
This one is supposed to be different in a few ways, the most noticable example being (besides the different races you can play as) that this game is actually going to be a persistant world rather than the instanced one in GW (min
Hey, theres a new Guild Wars 2 video up on their website as well as a new section of their website. The info is nothing new, its just describing the different races, but the real kicker is that we not only get to see a little bit of each race's enviornments in greater detail (especially the capital cities which actually seem like cities), but that theres actual snippets of combat too! Now I must
Dont worry, I did the same thing as you delad. It happens.
I am excited that the Beta is coming out, even if I wont be taking part until minimum 3 or 4 because I cant see myself being of any real help in the 'not-fun' portions of the Beta. Kudos to the rest of you though.
Im so happy for the ability to give AI missions. It was annoying how they could give us missions, but how we couldn't do the same for them. 'Deadlier Pirates' sounds interesting, especially for mid-late game raids when you have such massive and diverse fleets that pirates become more of a minor poke with a spoon as opposed to a legitimate threat that they can be early game.
i knew gw didnt, but it wasnt a persistent world was it? i always wanted to get it. if gw2 has no fees, then it would be a sucess.
GW 1 wasn't persistant, GW2 will be. Perhaps the largest gripe of my GW experiance is going away...
The event system sounds like an upgraded version of Warhammer's Public quests, only events seem to have an actual impact on the world beyond "now we have to wait for it to restart to do it again". If so, then I say bring on the events!
As a GW 1 fan, my opinion may (alright, IS) biased, but I am really looking forward to this game. I am a casual gamer, who doesnt wish to put five hundred hours into a game just to be considered decent. I enjoy games to have fun, and GW allowed me to do that. I was actually starting to doubt GW2 was even being made until this trailer, due to the large lapse of time since their last serious update. Boy, I dont think I've ever been so happy to be proven wrong. I hope this game wil be just as go
I am blown away by the awesomeness of that movie. It makes me wish I had played the KotoR games.
I was never any good at the original Starcraft (lets just say I had problems beating the computer outside of the campaign), but for some reason Starcraft 2 has me rather excited. Maybe its because its so shiny...
If SD wants to please everyone, have a box to turn mega events off like in GC2. Heck, I hate Mega Events myself, but thats because I dont have enough skill or patience to deal with them. Some do however, and they enjoy the twists that pop up so I say give those who want the challenge their Mega Event so long as I can turn them off if I want. Also, Dragon attacks (or monster attacks) may be in the game already. I cant remember however if it was fan speculation or dev info stating that
Yeah, I remember that. I think they took it out because it could only generate rough stories rather than interesting ones. I dont think it helped that a buch of people on the GC2 forums were dedicated story AAR writers with alot of creativity and attention to detail that SD probably did not want to try to compete with with computer generated stories. They DID put an event calandar in instead that lists events (like when technologies became available and war declarations) so you could go in an
