You guys do realize that ork with a 'k' is the Warhammer 40,000 way of spelling orc and not the real fantasy way right? Although, so many people get it wrong these days (a side effect from DoW I suppose) that I'm not sure why I even bring it up anymore.

I guessed there would be some sort of faction named after the Altarians and there it is, faction numero uno. I wonder what its strengths and weaknesses are.
Thanks for the info guys. I guess Relic just has single race teams in their video previews/trailers to make things look realistic or something.
Oh, I have a quick question for you guys. Upon watching some of the recent Relic Multiplayer videos over the DoW2 website, I noticed each team was one race only (Players on Team 1 were SM while the players on Team 2 were all Orks, etc). Are you be able to mix it up in terms of races that compromise a team (ex. Team 1= Orks and SM with Team 2=Eldar and Tyranid) or will each team have to pick a single race? Also, will there be the option for players to be the same race as y
Seeing as how I liked CoH better than DoW 1 (although DoW 1 was still amazing), I really cant wait for DoW2. Thanks for the preview guys. I hope the IG manage to make it in the game eventually, either as DLC or in an expansion. Until then, I plan to serve the Emperor using Space Marines. [e digicons]:cylon:[/e]
From Inspirations I: "The dark energy (what some might call “magic”)..." This basically confirms 'magic' in the game is really dark energy which we all know is present in the Galciv universe (see latest Drath/Altarian tech trees in ToA). Thus I have two theories I want to get off my chest. Number 1, there will be a human faction known as Altaria (probably good with research anad perhaps with stronger magic capabilities). Number 2 that the dragons in
For those who want elves... it will be possible to mod the race in yourself. On a side note, I find the Fallen to sound a lot like Chaos in Warhammer... I'm just saying...
Thanks for the Avatars Spartan.
I'm glad dragons are not a playable race. When I thought the Beasts were a playable race and read their background, i wondered how SD could balance the awsomeness that is an army of Dragons. Its a much better mechanic to have them neutral (whether visable on the map or not) and be able to recruit them.
The closest I can think of for spells like these would be the sinking of Atlantis or the Searing from Guild Wars. Oh, and the Cataclysm from this game ;)
Isn't Dark Magic the negative aspect of Life?
Sounds interesting. And you do know that SD is making it really easy to mod your own races into the game to offset only two playable races from the start right? Thus, you could make your Necromancer race and your others if you felt like spending the time to do it.
Never played MoM, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. That said, this game is looking good to me so far and I love GalCiv2, which was my first real TBS game. I will be watching closely.
The sentient ones probably have some degree of control over non sentient beasts, thus creating one unified faction.
Oooooh, I like the sound of designing just parts of the world to randomly include in random map generation. To my notebook to start drawing random landforms!
Now that I think about it, SD could "borrow" how seasons/weather work from the Total War series. Certain areas (usually more northward) turn snowy in winters (which in blizzard conditions on the battle map turns visability to near zero). Deserts turn hotter in summer, but I never really campaign in desert areas in TW so I dont really know what advantages or disadvantages fighting in the desert has. In addition, TW has random storms generating in oceanic areas (more to foil fleets slig
I'm pretty sure its been mentioned heroes can become "lesser channelers" (without that exact wording) albeit at a sacrifice to your own personal power.
I'm not a programmer so I may simply be uninformed, but I think that a weather system might be hard for SD to incorperate. That said, It would be awsome if they did! In addition to the above suggestions, perhaps give races an option to become stronger during certain seasons and weaker during the opposing season (ex. Strong in summer, but weak in winter)???
Apparantly only three SD created races, but potentially unlimited when you consider the fact that we will be able to mod our own races and share them with other users with ease. I'm already thinking about which race I will make first.
Click on the Lore tab up at the top for a general overview of the races. And it has been confirmed that we will be able to mod our own races into the game. In fact, I look forward to it...
