@endofdayz - The problem isn't your criticism, but how you put it, and the fact that is mostly(imo) uniformed criticism. Stating something is just there to 'make a quick buck' is insinuating that it's not being made to be a quality product and that they're just throwing something together for extra money. That is clearly not the case and I would be offended it you said the same thing about a product I was creating. Stating the truth and being tactful are two different things and they

No, because however you buy it you still have the opportunity to use Impulse to download the 64 bit version when it's available.
In normal Dwarvenly fashion, he attacks the closest thing possible. I missed his initial outburst of rage, but when I found him he and two dogs were in a melee in the back of the dining room. The Tanner has sustained minor injuries, but one of the dogs has been bashed on the left side, hurting both legs. <img src="http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/810/wardog.jpg" alt="" width="
It has been a charming journey up from the south as I followed the Western Sea to a humble fortress of about 15 Dwarves. Continuing on with my predecessor's ghostly dealings, I don't inhabit anyone right away, instead meander around as I gain my bearings and determine the layout of the fort. As I wander, my OCD kicks in due to a lack of central organization except around the main stairwell that leads right into our living quarters, making for a very messy day if any goblin managed to
It goes well people. I don't know if it will make it up tonight, the ocean and migrant cataloging(which I gave up on on my 3rd migrant wave) have slowed things down a bit, but should have some good stuff for you once I get through the second half of winter and write everything up. edit: Game is finished, but too late to do anything else. And, if anyone didn't already know, Dwarf Therapist is amazing. DF with a little bit of organizational UI is a wonder to behold. edit2: ARGG!
I'm getting it now. Should have something up by tonight.
Yea I was wondering where he was at, too. If we hear nothing by tomorrow I'll see how bad I can mess things up, as I've never actually pieced an aquifer before, just lakes and rivers.
Civ 4 isn't a good comparison, the actual city proper in Civ 4 is limited to 1 tile. An oil well in the middle of nowhere is also 1 tile. There's no particularly realistic scale in that game at all, in distance or in time (does it really take 300 years to build a monument?). I'm not sure trying to impose a sensible scale on Elemental is fair.
The city proper is 1 tile, but it still has to work tile
Quoting Myles, reply 2The current map is very small compared to the maximum size. Check this thread. I find that comparison to civ4's map sizes invalid considering how much space is used by city sprawl. Saying "Our maps are 250% bigger!" while the cities occupy 640% of the space kind of makes that a moot point for me.
Except that cities in Civ4 could take up 21 spaces including areas around them w

Frogboy made a post stating that Havok was being a little ridiculous with their demands of compensation for 64-bit programming, but later he said there would be a 64-bit version, but it may not be available at release. I'm looking for these posts, but they were in random threads and not anything specific to the issue.
I don't see that city building as complicated at all. Things are a bit cumbersome, but it's not hard to figure out what you need to do. Also, the devs have said they DO NOT want cities to snake in all kinds of directions to accumulate resources, which is why they introduced the pioneer unit to secure resources outside your cities' reach. I think all that needs to be changed is the available city space vs food vs housing. That along with making cities look less blocky would go
I'm pretty busy this weekend to do a decent write up. Better just to wait for Iteu.
Well, I got a match and played my first turn...then the game froze [e digicons]X([/e] Happened after I had clicked to end my turn and waited a little bit. Could have happened when the other player ended their turn, from my uneducated point of view.
Anyone giving it a try yet? I'm looking for an opponent now but no one seems to be on with me.
Like kyrogre said, it'd probably be hard to find a processor that is single core, but I would suggest a higher speed duel core over lower speed quad core.
Right here Raven. Since you're just starting a new game, all you have to do is move the contents into a new folder and start the .exe, though you're pretty smart and shouldn't have any issues starting the game, just figuring out what to do after that. LOL. I had a hell of a time just figuring out how to dig a tunnel the fist time I played.
Raven, I too can't play with the ASCII without my eyes bleeding, so I play using Mayday's graphics pack and it makes everything into 2d sprites. Or at least almost everything, there's a little ASCII still there, but not much. Here's a screen shot for comparison. EDIT: NM, the picture won't show up no matter what I do, so here's a direct link. http://img8.imageshack.us/f/52363393.jpg/ <
It's been a little while since I played DF(since right after the release of DF2010) but I'd love to get in on this. I'm not really that good, but I understand enough to not get us killed unless a ridiculous raid or monster shows up. Then I'll make sure we die a horrendously funny death that emanates fun.
I thought Stardock had made it pretty clear that adding stuff like this is a breeze compared to programming the editors and the game engine. I think Brad said they could add a spell or building in 6 hours, while making an editor or significant game engine changes takes more like 6 months.
I'd like to see it, and know how it all happens, but I would not want to experience it.
As for the definition of purpose, I think its sort of important. Otherwise you start thinking that there is all some destiny and that we MUST breed ourselves into extinction because breeding is our purpose. The only people we need to satisfy is ourselves, there isn't some external hall monitor telling us where to go and what to do, so what we choose as our purpose is really important.
It's a semantics argument.
