Wow more cool models, you rock! I'm up for beta testing too once you get this going.

Wow, some of the best models i've seen put in-game. Is your anti-aliasing turned on in those shots? Other then slightly jagged edges (which the in-game models might have too) these look like official stuff coming out of IronClad! Your first model that was like a whale actually reminded me a ton of Moya from Farscape (this is not a bad thing!) :-) See a picture of Moya here: http://home.earthlink.net/~x1nebula/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/deskb10.jpg
Yeah the text bug you referred to is fixed in 1.03. Who knows, maybe it is somehow related to the Infocard lag issue although I think that might just be textures being loaded and thus causing slow down. One of my friends gets this same issue but it is usually just the first time that he clicks on each type of infocard that it does it then it is fine after that.
I think from my understanding of what bailknight has said, he HAS to mess with .entity files to enable some of his revamped particle effects. He is modding two types of files, .entity and the particle files. If you change the .entity file it must be enabled as a mod for everyone involved in the same game as far as I know.
Well since you already whined you don't want to "wait for the next patch" then I don't know what to tell you to help you. Go look at mods maybe? The next patch that the devs claim makes AI way more challenging comes out within 2 weeks for sure so just be patient.
Yarlen has already said it was pushed to early March. Suspect details will be forthcoming next week at some point.
Can't wait to try this one out this weekend. Looks like awesome work so far!
This looks great. Me and my friends will be trying it out this weekend hopefully (sucks having no time :-/).
Its not that hard to see how many you have if you just look at the shaded background on the military and civilian research trees. The amount of shading tells you how many you have. I guess its not as simple as just having a number, but the information IS there.
LOL, I didn't even know you could replace an AI player like that. That is kind of funny actually to have the AI countermanding your orders. "Attack that planet!". AI: "I don't think that's a good idea John."
I've noticed this behavior as well except I was building frigates.
Woo hoo thanks! That will help a lot!
Another quick suggestion I thought of when playing again Monday night (far too late @#$@# you IronClad!). Can we add an option to be able to locate our superweapons in the Empire Tree's search feature? We can find scouts, capitals etc, but not superweapons. Long-term it might be nice to have more features up there to "highlight planets who aren't fully developed for: Population, Logistics, Tactical" etc with checkboxes for each. Basically so we can do some filtering on our
A lot of the music at least is in .ogg format so theoretically you could just name your clips the same as the .ogg files (back them up first!) and it would play them. I'm not sure where all of the voice clips are stored at. Edit: got beaten to the punch by more detailed responses!
Flak Frigates...?
The OP did not mention his fleet make-up of consisting of any frigates period, much less flak frigates. And yes, flak frigates would be a major problem for my counter to the OP, but like I said, that isn't the situation he set up for us to respond to.
I too generally view pirates as "free experience" for my capital ships. I do bid them up to have the pirates go after an AI player from one direction while I attack from another just to mess them up some. Haven't played any PVP games though, just co-op vs. lots of hard AI players (who really aren't that hard at the moment!).
Not sure but middle-clicking the wheel (third mouse button) resets your view to be centered on the currently selected object. I'm not sure if it resets the angle / rotation though?
As others have said, tons of bomber squadrons even by themselves would pwn your fleet. With 30 bomber squadrons I can take down a level 5 capital ship in roughly 20 seconds or less. In that time, you could take down 1 of my carrier cruisers, maybe 2 if you are focus firing (due to mitigation). After the caps are all dead, short work can be made of your cruisers too. Combine that with splash damage missile frigates and you'd be in big trouble.
Game will probably run if your card supports DirectX 9 fully. I think i've heard of people running it on a Geforce 5 series successfully so you should be ok. You can get a Geforce 7 series card in an AGP flavor though if you need to upgrade without changing your system.
RealDarko: I actually think the lack of worrying about a z-axis is a good thing, and is one of the things the developers did right (although people here are saying you can move on the z-axis, so check it out). As far as the physical game itself - the "technicals" of the game if you will - it's an A+. The developers are highly talented, and knew what they were doing. My hat is off to them in that area. Where they went wrong is that the balance and
I like the idea of letting your human player allies use your Vasari Phase Gate tech as well so they can jump around your planets at least easier.
I would like to see Dual core support for my AMD 64 processor.
What makes you think it doesn't? I see 100% CPU usage on both my cores with my AMD processor. Have you not installed the dual-core optimizer from AMD's website? It helps applications use dual-core that aren't necessarily written for it.
If your apartment is owned by a university, they are providing you with your internet. Thus, the ISP for you IS the university and they almost 100% likely have a hardware firewall on the edge of their network between you and the internet that is blocking the ports.
Yes have always taken out pirate bases with little trouble. Just build a nice big fleet with some capitals and lots of frigates and you will be fine. Also make sure your fleet doesn't do something stupid like run into the gauss cannon ring. Get some long-range missile boats and take out the gauss cannons that way, use your caps to take out the pirate ships. Also, the pirates have lots of low-tech frigates, so get tons of fighter squadrons (talking about 25+ squads here) and you can o
Yeah based on the outpouring of negativity toward the current implementation (I wasn't particularly fond of either implementation in beta either though..) I would imagine that we will see some change in the next patch.
