I can imagine, with Balance in place of course, that a Troll cave could spawn and grow into a menace, in your region, that may cause your ultimate downfall. While cool once, by the 5th time, you are

I've gotta say: I'm from the MoM and Settlers camp. The thing with that is, I've got Settlers 7 (A disappointment, but Settlers none-the-less!), Dawn of Discovery and various other economic simulations that I keep going back to. (Caeser 3, lately) So I don't really want that in this sort of game. I want this to focus more on your typical sort of 4X. 4X-Eco-City-Sim would simply cause my mind to BSOD. As for tactical battles
[quote who="Tormy-" reply="139" id="2627759"] Just marketing my old idea: I think now only "monster" should have an own agenda, your hired heros/governors/children should also (be greedy, hunger for power, ...) That would be way too RPGish for a strategy game. Don't get me wrong, I like everything, what enhances the gameplay, but I am trying to be objective in this case. How did I not know this thread was here?! Suffice to say, after all these years, Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm and Homeworld 2 are the only original disks I still have. They're above and in front of me right now, and all three are installed. (Part of why I haven't switched to Vista/7.) Homeworld (The Voyage Home *Rimshot*) will always be the best strategy game I have ever played. A large part of that is nostalgia. Another large part of that is i
A "Living World" to me implies either; A. Immersion or B. Honest-to-goodness suspension of belief, and the power to do so. Now mind you, that is in the idea of an RPG. Many things in recent years (I say recent, try maybe the last 3) have tried to accomplish this. They have all failed, in my eyes. There is always something, be it a glitch, or poor voice-acting (Oblivion: But. . .But. . .I was talking to you on the other side of the world!

Excuse me, my jaw drilled several miles into the crust of the earth. Be right back. *Returns* So is Beta Testing still going on for this at all? I wasn't referring to units in specifics except the Space Marines -> Terran Marine bit. I was saying more along the idea. Though my SC lore is sketchy at best, so Tau may not be the best representative of it. I just thought I remembered a sort of 'Greater Good' idea from the Protoss campaigns. My memory, of course, may be deceiving me. Really though, now that we've established Tasunke's original problem, it's all argument for the sake of itself

As previously stated, I'd be in for that. Likely as a world builder, as my coding and modeling skills are fairly, well. . .crap.
If you could make a TC (total conversion) mod for base Elemental that turns it into Forgotten Realms, I'd be thrilled and call you a god.
My idea was (depending on the dungeon mechanic of Elemental) a sort of overland campaign map in which you get dragged into random encounter battles. (Something would have to be done to simply prevent people from avoiding encounters. 1 square LOS with everything already uncovered and FoW on maybe?) The adventures themselves could take place in dungeons. I'm not sure the extent of the tile creation system, so I'm not sure it's possible to create a c
