Erasing towns of the fallen empire is not quite logical. At least the bigger ones (it is OK for small villages). Cultural victory is OK as it is in Civ IV. It is OK if there is a limited number of turns in the game. I hope there will be no limit. If cultural points are in Elemental too, it may be OK, if you generate much more culture points and winn. However "Q+30" expression you use - plus is not the right operand. Consider different map sizes. If Q+30 i

Tooltip will help you in most cases. The hungarian notation is good, if you print the code and work on paper or you are writing a book about programming. Even with tooltips I think it is good, if you use "m_" (class members) and I used "sz" prefix for T strings (it is not good to use (char *) on windows platform, where str prefix is used). Starting every class name with "C" is bad due to the reasons already mentioned (if you are trying to access them in IDE all first letters are C).</
I would strongly suggest using PEP8
We are good at it in my company. Especially at points 3, 6, 11, 14 and 15 [e digicons]k1[/e] for the link.

Yes, clean coding is great. However I have not seen it since I started programming. Well not quite true, some simple tasks at the university were clean. I am very happy, that I could move from C++ with MFC to Java. It has compatibilty issues too, but not as much as the mentioned deadly combination.
I never played X-Com
Poor you! However you still have a chance. There is a freeware remake for WindowsCE. It was a great game. It has been followed by several "remakes" however no one was as good as the first one. UFO Afterlive was close but even it was not as good.

Antimagic zealots as a minor race - good idea! However it would be a bad idea to have such faction. As I understand the game, each faction is ruled by a magic chaneler. So why should they obey their master?
Or will they be much bigger and you can scroll around like in AoW?
There are lots of answers to your question in this forum. Just read the previous announcement - that about detail levels! We will see however, what map size will be available in the beta. However I don't think it would be important to have a huge map in early betas. Of course it will be important in the late ones. The overall strategy of huge worlds will definitely differ from the strategy on the small w
BoogieBac, could you consider to add a "notepad" to the game?
Well. I think the game should be playable in a window. If so, you may run any text editor you want (without the need of this feature to be present in the game). Logging is however always a good idea. Especially in beta.
The only exception would be dwarves and this would ONLY be for mines for the digging of jewels.
Even dwares will probably not want to live in a depleted mine.

The good story must bring something new. No generator can do this.

I think refilling new creatures is OK. Low level creatures would be generated first, higher level creatures later. The higher the dungeon population is, the higher level creatures may appear. It may be nice if eg. an orc infested dungeon generates orc raiders (as a neutral units) roaming on the map (when dungeon population reaches critical level) . One more idea: It may be nice if specific low level creature allows specific higher level addons - e.g. orcs allow worges and orges,

It is an interesting idea indeed. However it would be difficult to program the movement (especially the user interface) and as a user you can allways split the army into several smaller armies to prevent this. So I think it won't work.

I would suggest such achievments: - peace lover - winns the game without being at war with anyone (neutral creatures and cities do not count) - destroyer of the empires - winns the game by killing all opponents - Famine, the third rider of apocalypse - loses some specific amount of population due to starvation

Great idea! And it wold be very nice if some icon in this forum represents fullfiled achievments. If the number of achievments is let us say 100, the icon would be 10x10 square, where specific pixel(s) represent fulfiled achievments.
Turn_2 = 100 gold reward; Day_20 = 1,000 gold reward; Turn_200 = 10,000 gold reward
Good, however the size of the map may be important too. Perhaps more important than turns is the number of cities (worldwide, not just player ones). The more cities in the world, the higher reward. As a hint may be also used the worldwide income (income of all nations), strenght of the armies and probably some others. Spoils of victory: 1) experience for unit(s), that tr

I agree with both of you however we have discussed the word "rubber" with my former English teacher. He told us about cultural missunderstanding he had with this world. This word tend to be more "something" in british English and it has other meaning in US English. I think however there shall not be a problem with adding some riddles to the map. Actually there is no reason to treat riddles differently from the quests. Heroes IV had this thing very well solved. You had a script languag

Riddles are fine and they can be especially usable by the map makers. General riddles shall be however only an addition with no too serious penalties for not solving them. Otherwise it is "save-load". Possible solutions of the riddles: 1) choose one possible answer from the list. I think such riddles shall be changed afther the load game 2) written text - such riddles shall remain the same after the load. The reason is you may have a good answer, however the "right answer" was

As for the names - my friend played an RPG game once. For the request "enter valid name" he entered "valid name". The dialogs appeared pretty funny (Hello Valid Name.....)

FF3 does not leak much. However it does not end sessions of the closed tabs. It has the advantage they could be easily revived, if one accidentaly closes them. However it consumes memory. I prefer it this way - a lot of memory is no problem nowadays. What I dislike on FF3 is Stardock forums do not work properly with this browser.
I don't see why farms should always be built outside castle walls
A farm is too big to fit the city wall. The wall around the farm would had to be very large. It would be very expensive (a lot of material needed to the construction) and if you want the ctity wall to be usefull, you must add defenders to it. Long wall = lots of defenders. And the farm produces only limited amount of food. In medieval times it was quite common, that if an enemy army got clos
